Patronus
"Dad, where are we going?" Albus asked. It was the summer before Albus's fourth year at Hogwarts, and Harry knew he needed to learn how to make a Patronus. "Well, you need to learn a spell that they don't teach you in school," Harry whispered as they walked out the door and into the yard.
"But, why do we have to do it at night?" "Because, if Lily sees us doing this spell, she'll demand that she learn it. I don't think she could handle it yet. Al, watch me." Harry took out his wand, closed his eyes, and thought of his happiest memory, his parents talking to him. "Expecto Patronum!" A silvery stag pranced around the dewy yard, and finally faded into nothing. "Now you try, think of your happiest memory," Harry said quietly with a small smile. He had a sneaking suspicion about Albus's Patronus. Harry remembered when Lupin was trying to teach him the Patronus charm."Expecto Patronum!" The end of Albus's wand lite up, but then fizzled out.
Then Harry heard something. For a second he was back at Hogwarts, and Professor Snape had once again found him wandering the corridors. He turned around,"Hi, Ginny," Harry said sheepishly. "Hi, Harry, why, is Albus out of bed?" "Um...well....you see... I kind of need to... teachAlthePatronuscharm..." "What?" "I need to teach Al the Patronus charm." Ginny smiled a little, her eyes were clouded with memory. "O-Kay, you can teach him, but I'm going to watch." "Sure. Al, focus on your happiest memory. You can do it, I know you can." Albus closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Expecto Patronum!" A silver doe gracefully raced around them. Harry shed a single tear, thinking of his mum. The doe looked at them and faded. Harry put one hand on Albus's shoulder. "Good job. Al, you know your Patronus is the same as you grandmother and Professor Snape?" "No, why didn't you tell me before?" "I don't usually talk about people's Patronuses."
"Now, do you want to try it again?" Albus nodded. "Expecto Patronum!" "Expecto Patronum!" "Expecto Patronum!" A stag, a horse, and a doe ran around the yard together, and like a dream, they faded.
~Time Lapse To The Beginning Of The School Year~
James, Lily, and Albus were about board the Hogwarts Express. Harry took Lily by the shoulders,"Lily, please don't let anybody open the Chamber of Secrets." A confused look crossed Lily's face, as Ginny smacked him on the back of the head. "What was that for?" Harry asked. "Don't joke about that, you nearly died!" Ginny exclaimed. Harry kissed her on the forehead. "We're safe now,"he whispered. Ginny smiled.
Hermione, Ron, Rose, and Hugo walked up to them. "Hey, Al's Patronus is a doe," Harry whispered to Ron and Hermione. "You've only told us five times, Harry,"Hermione replied. "I'm really excited, okay." "Rose, can produce a Patronus too, a raccoon," Hermione said, looking Harry in the eye. "That's different." "Yes, she is really excited about it to.
"I'm worried about them," Ginny said. "What are they going to do put their name in the Goblet of Fire?" Ron replied with a smirk. Ginny rolled her eyes. They all said goodbye to the kids. Then waved as the train chugged off. "I doubt they'll ever do anything as dangerous as what we did," Hermione whispered. "No, but they'll have their adventures," Ron said in return. "And Hogwarts will always be their home." Harry said looking into the distance.
