Beside me.
I looked at him hopefully, my ears all desperate to hear positive response as negativity has became that passenger, who has got permanent access to my life's vehicle and I'm eager to kick it out.
He opened his mouth and scored 30th position in the list, which consist names of all the boys, who had blackballed my marriage proposal, till date.
'I don't think we're suitable for eachother.' He said and once again something broke inside me, I guess, it's my confidence.
Mom always says, 'God never discriminate and loves everyone the same,' but I think, It's a fallacy.
Because, equality is merely a myth for me. For years, I've been judged by the People, not on the basis of marks, I scored in exams, they gauged on the basis of kilogrammes, reflected by weighing scale, they disparaged me because my score in the scale of skin colour is less impressive.
What's my fault, if I'm not slim and don't have fair complexion?
I did everything possible to change myself. For my complexion, I applied enormous beauty products. To decrease my obesity, I woke up early, did yoga. Although, after all these sweat dripping exertions, I got failed. Only a piece of chocolate bar is enough, to ruin all my hard work.
I'm fed up of being judged. I don't want to marry these boneless males, but do I've any choice?
I'll have to see a guy again, picked up by mom as she won't give up ever. I wish, I could do something to stop her. These rejections are tormenting me mercilessly.
I came out without giving him any response.
I dialled Mom's number and said, "Sorry," and disconnected the call abruptly. I don't want to hear her pep talk.
I decided to spend some quality time with myself at city park.
I didn't even reach half way, when the sky lost his blues and got capture by dark clouds, which indicates, soon it's gonna rain and I should drop my plan of staying out, as I'm very sensitive to rain water.
Before I could do something, it began to rain cats and dogs.
'Shit!'
I saw a cab, parked at left side of the lane. I made roof above my head with my palms, and rushed to hire it before someone else do.
I knocked at the window glass to ask the driver, if he's ready to serve me but after watching him, nothing came out of my mouth. He's not at all looking like a driver.
I'm not concluding this based on his appearance, he has dressed casually as normal guy. It's his aura which screams, do I look like a driver?
I observed his car, to confirm that I'm not making any mistake in hurry and it's actually a taxi.
"Where do you want to go ma'am?"
I told him my address and he said,
"Get in fast."
Without wasting any second, I hopped into the back seat.
I dug deeper inside my tote bag, to take out the handkerchief, to wipe off the rain water dripping from my face. However, I failed to find it. I guess, I forgot to carry it today.
I twitched up my lips annoyingly and lifted up my head, only to catch a pair of eyes looking at me, through the rear view mirror.
He averted his gaze abruptly and began to search something inside the car's cabinet.
I jerked my arms to remove, excess of rain water.
"Here, use this." He said offering me a hand towel.
"No thanks, I don't need....."
"Yes, you do, unless you're not planning to get cold."
"It's nothing like..."
"First, make yourself dry then talk."
I stared at the towel, I genuinely don't want to deny his sweet gesture but I'm a hygiene freak.
"Don't worry, it's clean and absolutely germ free."
I smiled embarrassedly and took the towel.
"Thanks."
"My pleasure."
He set the engine on fire, the tire began to roll, crossing tall buildings. Most of the streets are empty now, because of rain.
My cellphone buzzed aloud, disturbing my peace. I checked the caller id, it's Mom calling. With heavy heart, I picked up.
"Where're you?"
"On the way to home."
"Go back to the same restaurant, there's a boy named Nitin, he's coming to see you."
"What! Now who the hell is Nitin?"
"Mind you language Sia."
"Mom, please spare me, I'm begging you."
"Don't be silly beta, he's very nice, he owns ride-sharing company which provide vehicle services to travel."
"Mom..."
"No, I don't want to listen anything, go back and meet him. Try not to mess up again."
My eyes got filled with tears after hearing her last sentence, my life is actually a mess.
"Okay!", I hung up.
I informed the driver about urgent change in destination.
"If you don't mind, may I know what happened?", He asked.
"Nothing, I'm gonna face my 31st rejection."
"31st!"
"I'm gonna see a boy and he's gonna reject me because I'm not beautiful."
"Who told you that you aren't beautiful?"
"No one has to say, look at me, I already know this."
"You know nothing. I heard you talking about a boy named Nitin, is he the...."
"31st boy."
"How do you know, he's 31st. May be, he's the one for you."
"Oh Common! He's the owner of some ride-sharing company. Why will he choose me?"
"Trust me, he must be the most fortunate guy, if he would do that."
"And why do you think so?"
"According to my judgement, your heart is pure and beautiful too, and I guess, this is what matters the most, to lead a peaceful life."
I smiled painfully and said, "It's easy to say but hard to implement."
"Not for me. Call your Mom and give her good news."
"What good news?"
"That Nitin said yes to this alliance."
"Huh! What?"
"I'm Nitin Mehta. Now do the honour and take your seat."
"My seat!?"
"Yes, it's beside me."
