Cali just walked into school when she was dragged off somewhere. She knew who pulled her unexpectedly though. The soft-touch of their hand yet the harsh hold was something she had grown accustomed too. Cali couldn't help but smile because this person always made her heart jump even when they were fighting. The person shoved Cali into one of the private rooms of the student lounge before locking the door behind them. 

Cali sat happily on the bean bag as she waited for the person to speak but they didn't. Cali got up and approached them when she heard soft sniffles. She then hurriedly pulled them into her embrace as they both fell to the floor. 

"Hey, it's okay. I'm right here. Nothing will happen to you." Cali said as she pulled back to wipe off the tears. "I'll always be here for you, Mia." 

Cali took the chance to steal a kiss in hopes to comfort her but Mia finally came to her senses pulled away from the kiss and pushed Cali back hitting her head on the door. The older girl frowned at the action but quickly replaced it with a comforting smile. 

"Tell me what's wrong Mia," Cali spoke softly. 

"THIS!" Mia shouted as she pointed to them both. "THIS IS WRONG! What we're doing isn't natural! THIS IS OVER!"

Mia slapped the girl hard leaving her on her knees. Mia then quickly grabbed her stuff and stormed off. Not noticing the tears flowing from the once shiny eyes of the girl she left behind, nor the blood that dripped from the side of her head. 

Cali stood up and slowly got herself back together. She wiped the tears away and pulled out a beanie from her bag. Cali put it on and winced as she did so, she figured it was just a bruise anyways. The girl packed her stuff, tidied the room, and left with a heavy heart. This time she put on a fabricated smile, knowing that she could still see Mia but Mia wouldn't see her.

The day dragged on and Cali was distracted by Mia as she tried to figure out what suddenly changed in the girl. Her head pounding as if rock metal was playing loudly and her chest getting more painful by the second. Her friends did notice that she was slowing down but they just thought that it was because she wasn't sleeping often so they didn't push her too much and left her to sleep in class.

Mr. Williams, however, noticed that his star student wasn't paying attention, hell she even fell asleep to his lecture. This shocked and enraged Mr. Williams because Cali was a model student and always respected her teachers. 

"Ms. Sloan would you please pay attention," Mr. Williams called out but there was no response.

"Could someone wake up Ms. Sloan," Mr. Williams yelled out to the class.

Julie, Cali's best friend, shook her slightly but she still wouldn't wake up. She tried harder but still nothing that was until she heard Cali moan.

"Cali? Are you okay? Mr. Williams has been calling you." Julie told her.

Cali then shot up yelling out a random answer that was far from the topic, even the class that they were in then fell back down. Thankfully, Julie caught her in time before she fell to the floor. 

"Ms. Avery, what is wrong with your friend?" Mr. Williams asked her.

Julie couldn't answer him as she felt the wet substance from the side of Cali's head. She looked at her hand and saw blood. Julie reacted quickly and carefully as she got Cali down to the floor with help from one of their classmates. Mr. Williams, scared for Cali, hurriedly called 911.

Cali was feverish at this point and everyone in the class was looking worried. Cali was everyone's friend and she held no judgment and loved everyone even the teachers and staff. To see the girl like this scared everyone. 

Julie tried to stay calm beside her as she talked with Cali as if nothing was happening, trying to piece together what had happened before all of this. 

"Hey, Cal can you tell me what happened?" Julie asked the girl.

"I'm not sure, can you?" Cali was definitely confused. "How did we end up on the floor?"

"Cali, listen to me. What happened this morning when you got to school? Did someone hit you?" Julie pushed even though she didn't want to know the answer.

"Umm... I remember getting to school with Alex and then Mia started dragging me away. We talked then she yelled and left me alone. She pushed me, I guess but she would never hit me." Cali explained.

Everyone was shocked to hear what happened and they all grew angry at Mia for what happened to Cali. Suddenly the paramedics came in with a stretcher and took Cali to the nearest hospital. Julie hopped in the rig to watch over Cali.

Alex, Cali's twin brother, was furious. Julie had just texted him about what happened and told him that they were already at the hospital. Alex told her that he would be there soon, he just had to do something first. 

Alex stormed through the hallways on his way to the student council office. Passing by students that didn't dare to stop him in his path. The word had spread about what happened to his sister and they were terrified of what the sports star would do. Alex barged into the office in the middle of the meeting. He glared at anyone that tried to stop him as he approached the president. Alex pulled on Mia's shirt and lifted her high up, which was no fret for him as he was the captain of the wrestling team. 

"YOU!" Alex yelled at her. "YOU THINK YOU'RE SO HIGH UP ON THAT PEDESTAL OF YOURS THAT YOU CAN HURT MY SISTER WHENEVER YOU LIKED! SOMEONE OUGHT TO TEACH YOU A LESSON."

Mia closed her eyes when she saw Alex lift his fist knowing that Alex would not be one to shy away from a fight. Alex stopped, however, when his phone rang. He tossed it to the vice-president, Ryan, and told him to answer it and put it on speaker. 

"Alex!" Julie's voice called out. "Where are you?" 

Alex answered her truthfully knowing what would happen if he lied to her. Cali was always walked over by a lot of people who took her kindness for granted, that's why Julie made it her mission to protect her the girl. So Alex knew the consequences of being on Julie's bad side.

"As much as I want to hit Mia too, Cali needs you here. Her head was bleeding really hard, and her beanie was soaking wet from of it." Julie was already crying at this point. "Alex, she arrested when we got here. Her heart stopped."

All the council members were shocked to hear what happened. Mia was the worst. She didn't mean to hurt Cali, gods that girl was her everything. Mia even had no idea why she broke up with Cali so suddenly. Now the girl she loved was on the verge of death and it was all her fault. Mia fell to the floor when Alex suddenly dropped her as he took the phone.

"Is she?" Alex was crying at this point. He didn't care if the student council was there, all he cared about was his twin. 

"The doctors got her back. They're saying something along the lines of broken heart syndrome." Julie explained as she tried her best to hold back the tears. "Alex, we can't lose her."

"I know Julie," Alex said hunched over his phone. "She's gonna be okay. She will be okay. She has to be, Julie."

"Just get here when you can, Alex. She'll be looking for you soon." With that Julie hung up.

Alex stood up and wiped away his tears before turning to Mia, then it came crashing on him. Cali used to go on and on about this girl she had fallen in hopelessly love with. Cali never revealed who she was to Alex and Julie but from the situation at hand, Alex figured it out.  Alex towered over Mia and he smiled when she feared away. 

"I don't know what you're relationship was with my sister and I honestly wouldn't care but you did something unforgivable. Yet I know Cali would still forgive you and find a way to put the blame on herself, that's just who she is.

What I don't understand is why? Why did you hurt Cali? She loves you so much that she wouldn't even tell me who you are to her." Alex told her.

"How did you?" Mia asked confused.

"My sister is many things but subtle isn't one of those. We always noticed that she was staring at you in the halls and during meets but we always thought it was because she was envious of your position. When Julie said, Cali suffered from broken heart syndrome, I put two and two together. Cali was looking over you because she was scared you would burn out like she used to do. Cali loves you and you were in love with her." Alex explained.

Everyone was shocked to hear what Alex was saying. The President was in love with the School's Sweetheart. Alex got down to Mia's level and leaned forward so that she could get the message.

"I don't know what you did that caused her syndrome. I don't care about your position I don't care if I outed you in front of your council. I don't care about who you are but Cali, for whatever reason, does and you hurt her. That's just something I can't let go of.

Cali is the only one I have left. She works double shifts at three jobs on top of school so that I could focus on my sports in the hope of a scholarship. She stood by me when our parents left and took care of Julie when hers died.  She's kind to everyone because she knows pain to an extreme level you couldn't even fathom. My sister, my twin was the best thing that ever happened to you and you still had the guts to hurt her when all she did was show you the love she had for you.

I'd watch my back if I were you, Ms. President. You have no idea how many people want to hurt you for hurting Cali." With that, Alex stood up and picked up his phone and bag.

"While I despise our president, her identity is something that we should respect. So if I hear rumors flying around about what happened here, especially about Cali dating the President and our home life, the wrestling team will have a few new punching bags." Alex finished off before walking out the door.

Every member of the council looked over to their president who was still on the floor, on her knees crying. 

"What have you done, Mia?" Ryan asked as he knelt down beside her. 

He, however, didn't get an answer just the phrase that Mia kept repeating over and over again. "This is my fault..."
