It's you who I love.
"Mama, why are you calling at midnight? I'm in the middle of a project. Are you okay? Sila Kuya kamusta sila? Si bunso ok lang ba siya?" Charlie asked worriedly because it was past 10 pm already.
Her Mama, Kristy apparently just called to check up on her since she was in college already. Now there was nothing wrong with a mother checking up on her kid but Charlie knew her Mama there was always an alternative motive, something else she wanted to say.
"Hija, come home. You're struggling there and you know your Papa won't financialize you if he can't see how you're doing." There it is. See, Charlie knew it.
The girl toned out her mother as she scolded her about being irrational. They have had this same fight every time Kristy called since Charlie left and the girl was honestly sick of it. Her Papa, Kyle had stopped giving Charlie an allowance after she moved out so Charlie had to work to earn money. It wasn't just her now anyways, Charlie had Bianca to think about too. Bianca needed her.
"Hija, her mom died long ago. She'll be alright." That was uncalled for.
Bianca lost her mom when they were still in High School then everything came falling apart after that. Charlie was livid at this point, her Mama had no right to bring Aunt Lily up.
"So basically what you're telling me, mama, is to come home to you and papa and leave Bianca all alone because you don't think she has the best interests for me? Is that it? Because mama, I'm sorry but no. I am not leaving Bianca alone here and whether or not she has problems I would've still gone to the same university so no you can't tell me to come home cause I'm not."
Charlie hung up before her mama could say anything else. Rude, she knows but she told them before she left home that Bianca was her first priority. Charlie would never leave her, never again. To Bianca, Charlie was the only constant, the only one left. Charlie had promised Aunt Lily that she would protect Bianca and that she will do.
Her Mama's call got her on edge and she couldn't focus on her schoolwork after it. Charlie was just about to head to bed when her phone started ringing again. Charlie grabbed it without checking who the caller was because, to be honest, she was shitfaced tired.
"Hello?" She greeted
"Lo-vie? I'm s-scar-red." Charlie heard her best friend stutter out.
"B? Listen to my voice. I'm right here. Can you tell me what's wrong?"
"I'm scared. You were gonna leave me. I didn't want you to go but you left me alone, you went home."
"Love, I will never leave you. You are my home now, remember that. How about this? Tell me in detail what happened so I know what not to do. Okay?" Charlie told her and the other girl laughed. "There's that laugh that I love."
Charlie heard the girl giggle before she began to tell her everything. As she did, Charlie slipped on her boots and jacket before grabbing her wallet. Along the way, she listened to Bianca while getting a care package together before heading over to her dorm room. Charlie knocked on the door.
"Who the hell would be knocking at this time of hour?" She heard Bianca say before opening the door. In front of her was her best friend holding her arms out. She jumped into Charlie's arms making her drop the basket but they didn't care they were together.
"Lovie! You didn't need to come here! My roomie's sleeping." Bianca whispered-yelled.
"And leave my best girl awake and crying! I didn't think so." Seeing as Bianca didn't release from the hug, Charlie carried her to the living room where she sat the girl down before grabbing the care and giving it to her.
"Lovie you didn't need to get this for me. I would've been fine with just a call. I honestly can't thank you for everything you've done for me, Lovie." Bianca said as she fiddled with her hands.
"Knowing that you're ok is good enough for me, Love. Anything to make you happy," Charlie told her as she playfully kissed Bianca's nose. Bianca blushed deeply and Charlie couldn't help but smile.
Bianca was gorgeous in the moonlight, all her features lit up and Charlie couldn't help but stare. The girl had her hair down so Charlie pushed a strand away so she could see her best friend's beautiful face better. Bianca had the most mesmerizing emerald eyes that Charlie could always get lost in. She was petite but Charlie loved that about her because she could always carry Bianca around.
"You're staring, Lovie," Bianca pointed out as she moved to sit on Charlie's lap. This time Charlie was the one that blushed which made Bianca giggle. She kissed Charlie's cheek and laid her head on the older girl's shoulder.
They stayed like that for a bit until Bianca broke the silence. "Charlie, have you ever thought about dating someone?"
Charlie didn't answer right away and Bianca figured that Charlie didn't want to talk about it but after a while, Charlie spoke. "No, there's only one girl for me and even if she doesn't know that I love her, I would do anything to make her happy. Anything to make her smile."
Bianca smiled at her words. "Do I know this girl that's got my best friend smitten?"
"I sure hope so," Charlie chuckled. "She's amazing. Breathtakingly beautiful and kind-hearted even after everything she's been through."
Bianca's eyes sparkled at what Charlie had just said but continued to ask. "Can I meet her?"
"You've met her already, Love," Charlie said as she stood up. "Now come on let's get you to bed."
Charlie picked her up and carried Bianca's small body to her room. Bianca holds tightly to Charlie even though she knows Charlie would never drop her. Charlie set the girl down and turned to leave but Bianca held her hand stopping the girl.
"Please stay." Her voice was tired but Charlie could tell she was still scared to be alone. Charlie just nodded and climbed in beside her. Bianca turned to face her and stayed in Charlie's arms.
Charlie waited until Bianca fell asleep before pulling her close and whispering to her. "It's you. My heart beats for you and only you. I wish I could have the courage to actually tell you but I don't want to scare you, Bianca. If I have to live with just being your best friend that takes care of you that's what I'll be. Anything for you. It's you who I love."
Charlie kissed Bianca's forehead before accepting the tiredness she felt. Unbeknownst to her, Bianca heard everything, every single word, and her heart was beating fast. Charlie loves her too, she was the girl Charlie had been describing. Bianca couldn't help but smile as sleep consumed her too.
-------------------------The next morning-------------------------
"WHO ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU SLEEPING IN BIANCA'S ROOM!" The two girls were woken up by Bianca's roommate screaming at them.
"I mean no harm," Charlie said as she stood up and put her hands up. "I'm Bianca's best friend and she called me last night to comfort her."
"How do I know you're telling the truth?" Penny asked holding the pan out like a weapon.
"She isn't," Bianca said from the bed, shocking Charlie and angering Penny. "Penny put the pan down, she's my girlfriend."
Penny shrugged and left the two alone. Charlie faced Bianca utterly confused with what just happened. Bianca chuckled at the tired and confused look on Charlie's face. She stood up and place her arms around the older girl's neck. "With the way you act, it's more convincing to say your my girlfriend."
Charlie let out a sigh she didn't know she was holding. "That makes more sense, I guess." She crashed on the chair behind her still tired but looking a little bit disappointed.
Bianca laughed and climbed on her lap. "Unless of course, you wanted it to be true." Charlie stiffened at that and looked at Bianca with a confused look again. There was a trend happening here.
"You might not have the courage but I do, and I don't plan on losing you anytime soon," Bianca said as she pulled Charlie in for a kiss.
Charlie stiffened again at the shock but soon relaxed into it and held Bianca tighter, not wanting to let go. Their first kiss was long-awaited but worth every second to both girls, who were simply enjoying it.
The moment was disturbed however by Bianca's roommate yelling. "Get a room!"
"We are in a room!" Bianca yelled as she stood up and slammed the door in response. Charlie watched in awe of her best friend, scratch that, her girlfriend.
Charlie grabbed Bianca and lifted her up as she spun around. She was beyond happy at the moment at she didn't want it to end. Charlie set Bianca down and captured her lips in a kiss once more. Charlie's hand slipped around Bianca's waist while Bianca's hands were caught in Charlie's hair. They finally broke apart from the lack of oxygen but they were smiling ridiculously. The two crashed on the bed and stayed there just enjoying the new comfort.
"Now, I finally understand why you insist on calling me, Love," Bianca smirked. "Not so sly as you think."
Charlie chuckled in response. "But you didn't pick up on it till last night when I confessed while you were asleep."
Bianca blushed at the remark and snuggled closer to Charlie. "Even if I was asleep, you still got the courage to say it, you get points for that," Bianca said as she planted a small kiss on Charlie's lips.
"As long as your happy, I'm happy," Charlie replied as she held Bianca.
"I'm happy when I'm with you," Bianca said, satisfied with where they were at the moment. "I love you, Charlie."
"I love you, too Bianca," Charlie said as Bianca laid her head on Charlie's chest. "I'm never letting you go."
"I wouldn't want you to."
