It's Over isn't it
"KISS! KISS! KISS! KISS! KISS!" Shouts rang throughout the room.
The whole crowd cheered for the two to kiss. Without a second thought, Trevor leaned in and kissed Rachel. A sweet kiss that meant everything to him not her. The crowd roared with excitement as the two locked lips except for one.
"It's over," Maya whispered to herself as she walked away.
The excitement of the crowd lowered as the couple separated from their kiss. Rachel pulled Trevor to the side so that she could talk to him.
"Trevor..." Rachel started but she just couldn't find the right words.
Trevor saw the hesitation in Rachel eyes even if she wouldn't look at him. He knew it, then and there, that Rachel didn't love him like that.
"It's okay." Trevor softly spoke as he lifted Rachel's head. "I understand. At least I got a kiss from the beautiful and ever wonderful Rachel."
Rachel blushed at Trevor's words and stood on her toes and kissed him on the cheeks. "Thanks for understanding, Trev."
With that Rachel walked away to find the one she loves.
Maya, on the other hand, had found herself in a music room the house apparently had. She felt tears streaming down her face as she fell to the floor. This wasn't supposed to happen. She was supposed to be the one kissing Rachel. Trevor had to go and ruin everything.
"Hey, are you okay?" Lily, Trevor's older sister, came into the room and asked the younger girl.
"Does it look like I'm okay?!" Maya snapped, but when she looked up she saw the concerned look on Lily's face. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell. It's just everything is messed up and I don't know what to feel anymore."
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Lily asked as she sat down beside the girl.
"Not really," Maya answered, and when she didn't get a response she figured Lily had given up.
The keys on the piano rang through the room as Lily played a soft tune.
"How about you sing it," Lily stated
Maya couldn't help but laugh, this girl was odd in a good way, and she knew just how to cheer her up. "We're not in a movie where you can just burst into song."
"But that's the best part of the movie." Lily pouted which made Maya giggle. "Plus music always has a way to pull your emotions. Just try it."
Maya stood up, walked toward the piano, and watched Lily play before she started to sing herself. What neither of the two noticed was that Rachel had gone out looking for Maya and had found her with Lily in the music room.
"I was fine with the men, who would come into her life now and again." Maya started, closing her eyes to feel the rhythm of the music.
"I was fine 'cause I knew that they didn't really matter until him." Maya sang as Lily pointed to herself in a joking matter which made Maya laugh.
"I was fine when he came and we fought like it was all some silly game," Maya continued to pour her heart out. "Over her, who she'd choose. After all those years, I never thought I'd lose!"
Rachel was surprised. Her best friend loved her like that? How didn't she notice? Why didn't Maya say anything? Why did she keep it to herself?
"It's over, isn't it?" Maya asked no one in particular. "Isn't it? Isn't it over?"
"It's over, isn't it?" Maya repeated, not wanting to believe it herself. "Isn't it? Isn't it over?"
"He won, and she chose him!" Maya yelled as she punched the wall, shocking Lily and Rachel. "And she loves him and she's gone!"
"It's over, isn't it?" This time, Maya turned to Lily and asked her. "Why can't I move on?"
Silence filled the room. No one spoke a word. Maya stood still in her place, hot tears still streaming down her face. Rachel took a step to comfort the love of her life but was interrupted by Lily stepping up to Maya first.
"Because you still love her." Lily answered as she held Maya. "No matter how much you want to move past it, love can't just fade away."
Maya pulled back and looked up to Lily. The older girl wiped away the tears and kissed Maya on her forehead.
"Your love for her can't go away, you just learn to love someone more than you did her." Lily spoke softly, wanting the younger girl to understand.
Rachel's eyes widened as thoughts flooded her mind. 'No! This can't be happening!'
"Who could I love more than her?" Maya asked, even though it sounded like she was asking herself.
Without hesitation and a second thought, Lily leaned in and kissed Maya. Shocking the younger girl and angering the eavesdropper. The kiss was short but sweet and when Lily pulled back Maya yearned for more.
"Only time will tell..." Lily stated as she connected their foreheads together. "but, I hope you can give me a chance to love you just as much."
Maya looked up at Lily and saw sincerity and love in her eyes. Something she had always wanted to see in Rachel's eyes but never got to.
"If I give you a chance..." Maya started. "Can you promise me something?"
"Anything to make you happy, mi luz." Lily answered as she kissed Maya's hands.
"Can you promise me that you won't make me choose?" Maya started fiddling with her hands, avoiding Lily's eyes. "Rachel... as much as she's hurt me... she has been there for everything."
Lily smiled knowing how big Maya's heart is, that she would always forgive Rachel. That's one of the few things that made Lily fall for her. Lily placed her hand under Maya's chin and lifted it up so that the younger girl could face her.
"If she comes back for you, I promise I'll step away." Lily spoke before adding in. "but please for now, let me love you in a way that she never could."
Rachel watched as Maya pulled Lily in for a kiss. Hearing her heart break into a million pieces. Had it not been for Lily's promise, Rachel would've marched right up there and stolen Maya back but hearing that Lily would step away just so that Maya wouldn't have to choose... Rachel couldn't.
Lily saw Maya. In all her glory, in all her wonder, and even in all her faults but she still loved her either way. Lily wouldn't hide away the fact that she loved the girl. Unlike Rachel who was too afraid to say something.
Rachel, then and there, knew that she had no chance in competing. Even if Lily would step back, Maya deserves her more.
"She won, now she has you, and she'll love you, cuz she's the one." Rachel started to walk away, letting the love of her life be happy with someone that could treat her better that she ever could. "It's over isn't, time for me to move on..."
