I'll come back to you

"Do you have your passport? Your ticket? How bout your ID?" Annie's dad was persistent in her having everything she needed.

"Mr. Liams, I'm sure Annie has everything already." Reed ruffled Annie's hair in response, and the girl just swatted his hand away.

"Quit it, Reed." Annie fixed her hair before turning to her dad. "I'll miss you, dad. I'll come home soon."

"I know you will," Mr. Liams pulled his daughter into a hug and held her tight.

As they separated, Annie was hesitant to ask her dad something but Mr. Liams knew just what she was going to say.

"She'll be here. There's no doubt about it." Mr. Liams reassured her.

"But what if--" Annie was cut short by Reed who butted in. "Don't go there, Annie. You don't want to know where that road leads."

Just as Annie was to counter him again, someone tackled her from behind. Struggling to get up, Annie could only see the person's brown hair but she could recognize the voice as they apologized over and over.

"I'm so so sorry, Annie. I thought you could handle that." Cai apologized as she helped Annie up.

"Cai, you're here?!" Annie was shocked, to say the least.

Cai chuckled at Annie's expression. They may have fought last night but that didn't mean Cai was going to let Annie just leave.

"Of course, Mr. Liams needed a ride home," Cai explained, smiling at the elder man.

Mr. Liams rolled his eyes, knowing that the girl was just making excuses so she didn't have to actually admit that she was in love with his daughter.

"Oh." Was all Annie could mutter out.

Reed and Mr. Liams were mentally slapping themselves at how oblivious Annie could be. Cai laughed at this before pulling Annie to the side.

"So you're really leaving, thought I would leave first..." Cai muttered to herself but she knew Annie heard her.

"It's not like, it'll be forever." Annie held on to Cai's hand, blushing hard at her actions. "I'll be back before you know it."

"I'm counting on you for that." Cai pulled the shorter girl in for a hug. "I can't lose you."

"You won't," Annie replied, holding tightly to the taller girl. "You never will."

"Come on, Annie, our train is gonna leave soon!" Reed yelled in their direction ruining the moment which resulted in a slap on the head from Mr. Liams. "Owww"

"Gosh, I love your dad sometimes." Cai smiled, letting go of Annie.

"He's the best." Annie's smile dropped at the thought of leaving him and Cai.

Cai noticed and pushed something in her hand. A small velvet box with a sealed letter. Annie looked at her with confusion but Cai just smiled at her.

"Read it when you get on the train. I'll wait for your reply, no rush." Cai placed a small kiss on her cheek, making Annie blush deep red. "Come on, Reed's not gonna wait all day."

Hand in hand, the two returned to where Reed and Annie's dad was waiting. Cai took Mr. Liams' bag as he hugged Annie one last time.

"You better take care of my girl, Reed." Cai threatened the older boy.

"Titan, you sound like Mr. Liams." Reed sighed but promised to look out for her anyways, and gave Cai a quick hug goodbye.

Annie took her bag from Reed and they headed inside their train. Finding her seat, Annie waved a final goodbye to Cai before watching her disappear into the crowd with her Dad.

"So what did Cai give you?" Reed asked as he settled on the opposite side of the cart facing Annie.

"A velvet box and a letter. She then said she'd wait for my reply." Annie explained before opening and reading the letter.

'Hey, you're probably wondering why the hell I didn't just say this to you in person...that's cuz, I'm a coward. We both know this pretty well, cuz you were always the bold one. I can't stand to face you when I say this so here we go...

I love you, Annie.

Like really love you. In the romantic sense.

I have been for a while now, you were kinda oblivious to it. Your dad and Reed would not stop snickering about it.

How could I not love an amazing girl like you, Annie? You are the toughest and most honest person I know and I love that about you. You don't care about what people think about you and you always protect those that you do love.

I know you'll be working hard out there in Germany and I don't want to stop you. Annie, I'm gonna miss you while you're gone but I know you'll miss your dad and me more so I'll ease your worries and look after him and he'll look after me. He has been like a dad to me after all.

Just... I don't know...stay safe...and I love you...I'll wait for your reply.

P.S.
The ring is the one I always wear. Since I can't actually be with you, you could have a part of me. I'll see you when you come home...

P.P.S.
Yes, I did put ...'s in this letter.'

"Hey, you okay?" Reed asked as he wiped away a few tears from Annie's cheeks.

Annie didn't answer him but proceeded to open the velvet box. Inside was a silver ring band. A small note was on it.

'So you always know I'm with you.'

Annie smiled as she inspected the ring. Reed was shocked, to say the least. The ring had always been something Cai kept to herself. Now she had given it to Annie, which only meant one thing.

"She finally confessed?" Reed asked, the mesmerized girl.

All Annie could do was nod. Pulling the ring out of the box and wearing it on her middle finger beside her Father's ring on her pointer. Annie admired the rings before kissing them both.

"I love you both," Annie whispered to herself.

"So you gonna answer me or what?" Reed asked from over on his seat.

"She did." That was the reply he got.

"And...?" Reed continued begging her to continue.

"I love her too." Annie finally said.

"Good." Reed chuckled as he covered his eyes getting ready to sleep. "You should tell her that as soon as we get home."

"I will," Annie responded to him and he smiled at that.

Reed soon fell asleep as Annie kept admiring the silver band and rereading the letter, smiling every time she did so.

"I love you too, Cai." Annie smiled to herself. "I'll come back home to you."
