Undyne and Papyrus

I just felt this urge to write this. Man. This momentum.

Based off the Tumblr post on Undyne and Papyrus's SOULS.

And Man on the Internet's stuff)

..........

Undyne looked up slightly at the tall skeleton who had been waiting at her door the whole night.

"Wait... You're still here?" She asked.

"YES. I HAVEN'T LEFT SINCE YOU CLOSED THE DOOR. I WAS THINKING THIS WAS A TASK YOU NEEDED ME TO DO IN ORDER TO TEST ME!" the skeleton grinned.

She couldn't help but stare. This guy was impressive. She let her Attribute show.

"Alright. Papyrus was it? I'll give you training until I see you're ready to join the Guard."

...................................................

"Looking good Pap!" Undyne sent down a small shower of Spears and Papyrus dodged them.

"THANK YOU UNDYNE!" Papyrus stuck a bone into the ground.

"So Papyrus. I've been meaning to ask you. Why haven't you ruined the training dummy yet?" Undyne removed her helmet.

"W-WELL... WELL... YOU SAID TO TREAT IT LIKE AN ENEMY. AND... WELL... I AM TREATING IT LIKE ONE." Papyrus meeked up.

"Wait... You're talking and cuddling and reasoning with the enemy?!" She growled out.

"Y-YES!" he squeaked.

"W... Why?" She asked.

"B-BECAUSE STRIKING THEM WITH ATTACKS FOR NO REASON ISN'T RIGHT! WHAT THEY'RE JUST AFRAID AND NEED SOMEONE TO GUIDE THEM? WHAT IF THEY DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS ANOTHER OPTION? WHAT IF... WJAT IF THEY'RE LIKE ME, UNDYNE?" he asked.

"Like... Like you?" She echoed, her throat dry.

"WHAT IF THEY... WHAT IF THEY JUST... WHAT IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING AND THEY'RE SCARED UNDYNE? YOU CAN'T HARM SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE OF THAT!"

She was trembling now.

He...

He was too nice!

If... If she let him into the Guard...

He would die.

Her Attribute shined once more.

"T-that's a beautiful speech Pap. Hey, here's an idea! Let me teach you how to cook!" She suggested.

"COOK?" he asked.

"Yes. All Guards have to know how to cook! You can't fight if you starve!" She looped her arm around his neck.

"YOU'RE RIGHT! ALRIGHT THEN, UNDYNE! TEACH ME THE WAY OF THE COOKERY!"

...........................................................

"N-no, Monster Kid!" She looked up at the platform where two figures stood.

"Damn it! Oh Asgore... I'm so scared... What do I do? What do I-"

She looked up to see the sillhouete draw nearer to the small child.

"MONSTER KID!!" no! Nonononononono!

She won't let them hurt him!

She won't let an innocent child get hurt!

{SLASH}

"U-Undyne... You... You're hurt!" Monster Kid looked at the heroine.

She chuckled.

Life wasn't kind to her.

She wasn't going to let others suffer like her.

"Hurt? This is nothing."

..........................................................

"This isn't just about Monsters anymore, is it?"

"If you leave this place... You kill them all."

"Humans... Monsters..."

"Everyone's hopes... Everyone's dreams..."

"Shattered in an instant."

No.

She wasn't allowing that.

Yes, it's true that humans sealed them Underground.

But the ones up there had no role in the mass murder of this human.

They were innocent.

Just like the thousands of innocent Monsters killed.

No.

She wasn't going to stand there and watch this insane person kill anymore innocent people.

With the KINDNESS she felt.

With the kind thoughts she had.

She reached out to their hopes and dreams.

And millions, no, billions of hearts.

Beat as one.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Papyrus looked up into the night sky and sighed in joy.

He was finally going to join the Royal Guard.

All he had to do was pass this task.

The darkness was frightening. Yes.

But he wasn't going to let that stop him.

He was a big boy now.

...............................................................

He looked away then at the small dummy Undyne had put out for him.

"..."

No.

This felt wrong.

He wasn't sure if this was even logical to him.

Why would someone want to hurt others who could be clueless of the world? Who could need a friend?

He needed to tell Undyne his thoughts.

But would Undyne listen to him?

Could he join the Guard after that?

He wasn't sure.

But...

Once he mustered up the courage...

All the words tumbled out of his mouth.

His feelings, his Mercy, his philosophy, his understanding.

Undyne then taught him to cook.

...............................................................

It was frightening, horrifying even.

How the human was killing so many people.

But...

He wasn't going to shy away.

What if this human was lost?

What if they needed help?

Everyone was too scared to help them.

He would have to do something, right?

He was going to do the right thing.

With all the BRAVERY he had,

All the courage he mustered up,

He stood his ground to teach the human MERCY.

Even at the cost of his life.
