Marble [Poem]
Marble, Marble
Can't you see?
Surrounding you and surrounding me.
Nation of the brave and free.
Pristine halls, shining in glory.
Take a look and see a reflection
Of what you want this place to be.
Books of yore, all of them wanting more.
Grabbing, needing what they don't own.
Marble, marble columns.
Holding a picture of ecstasy.
Whatever could it truly mean?
Dirt being the foundation,
Hiding under all the gleams.
For tis country for you and me.
Marble, marble what do you hide.
Under your great towering dome,
Is someone we don't truly know.
Under all of that gold, hides a stone,
Bitter and cold.
Marble marble what do you see?
A picture of me, wanting to believe.
