Reunion

Sometimes I think my life is perfect. I have the perfect job that I love waking up to, and that's way more than some people can say. I have the perfect apartment with a perfect view. But most importantly, I have the perfect family and friends who I love and who love me right back.

My life is perfect, except for one thing, I don't have my perfect someone.

Walking down this beach, sun setting on the horizon, I can't help but wish that I had someone walking right beside. But that's just wishful thinking I guess.

Just as I'm contemplating what to have for dinner, I bumped into something, or should I say someone, and stumbled a little.

"Wow. Sorry." The man said.

I looked up and what I saw had me gasping in surprise. "Nick!"

"Ummm, do I know you?" He asked me as though we don't have a history.

"You haven't changed, have you? It's good to see you still have that sense of humor." I said before pulling him in for a hug.

But he never returned the hug so I pulled away slowly.

"I'm sorry but I really have no idea who you are." He said with a blank expression. Absolutely no recognition sparked in his blue eyes.

"What?" I asked, my smile faded because I didn't understand how he could just...forget me.

"You might know me but I have no clue who you are." I was no longer smiling, in fact, I had to hold back tears and I didn't know why. "It's not because I don't want to remember you." He continued when he saw the expression on my face. "It's...well...A couple of months ago, I was involved in an accident and when I woke up in the hospital I couldn't remember anything about myself."

My hands flew to my mouth as I listened to him with wide eyes. "Oh my...that's...I'm so sorry. So you don't remember anything?"

"At first I didn't but my parents helped me recover a lot of my memories so...I'm getting there...slowly." He said looking down. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name." He said as he looked up at me.

"It's Rebecca. Rebecca Moss." I said.

"Oh, and how did I know you?" He smirked that smirk that always made me want to slap him and kiss him at the same time.

"We were together in high school. We actually dated for a bit." I said, looking down as I felt my face get warm.

"Wow. How'd I manage to convince you to go out with me? I mean, look at you. You're hot." He flirt with his signature smirk plastered on his face.

"Well, I can tell you that it was definitely not your horrible pick up lines." I retorted, matching his smirk with one of my own.

"Come on. I've got great pick up lines. You're just playing hard to get." His smirk never left his face. It only got larger.

I laughed a little at what he just said.

"What? What's the the big joke?" He asked, confusion grazing his face as his smile faltered a little.

"It's just...that's how we met." I told him, a soft smile on my face as I remembered the time we spend together when we were younger.

"How'd we meet?" He asked, full of curiosity and interest.

"You tried to woo me with your lame pick-up lines and I shut you down." I said.

"How'd we end up dating if my pick-up lines were so bad?" He asked as he listened attentively.

"I would to ask myself that every day." I paused. Then laughed. "I guess I fell for looks not your pick-up lines."

He raised an eyebrow and grinned. "What about my personality?"

"Your personality was horrible." I smirked at him and laughed when I saw him scowl playfully.

He laughed. "Is that why we broke up?" He asked only half serious.

I didn't know what to tell him. I mean, who would. How do you explain to your high school sweetheart the reason why you broke up. Especially since he knew the reason at the time of said breakup.

"Ummmm...It was kinda mutual, you know?" I laughed nervously. God, if this isn't the most awkward thing to do, I don't know what is. "After high school, we both wanted totally different things. I wanted to go to Columbia and you wanted to go to Cali. We didn't think the long distance thing would work out so we decided to break up."

"That's it? No angry arguments? No yelling? No throwing things? Just a mutual breakup?" He asked, surprised by the whole incident I had just related to him.

I shrugged. "Yeah. I mean, we debated on whether we should give it a shot but in the end, we both figured that it wouldn't really work out so we decided to just save ourselves the time and heartbreak."

"Huh. I figured I'd be more persistent." He said more to himself.

"Not really. You were almost always persistent but I guess you knew a sinking ship when you saw one." I laughed nervously.

"Well, since I'm practically a new person, I wish I'd given us a chance. You seem worth it and I've only known you for, what, ten minutes." He stated.

I pressed my lips together to hold back the small smile. "That's really sweet."

We stood in silence for a few seconds before he exclaimed. "Oh for the love of...I'm trying to ask you out on a date!"

My eyes widened. "Seriously? That is so cliché."

"What? Asking you on a date?" He asked.

"Asking your high school sweetheart on a date after years of not seeing her." I laughed.

"Technically, since I don't even remember you, you're not my high school sweetheart, so it's not cliché." He smirked as he walked closer.

I stood my ground. "You haven't changed a bit."

"So is that a yes...?" He asked. We were now standing nose to nose.

For some reason, I couldn't say yes and my smile slowly faded. "I don't know, Nick..."

"Then let me help with that." He whispered and immediately pressed his lips to mine.

I didn't respond at first because I didn't see it coming. But eventually I gave in, moving my lips against his. Kissing him back with as much passion as he was kissing me with.

My hands trailed up his chest and around his neck. His hands were at my waist, moving up and down, as though he were trying to memorise me. His hands then suddenly slipped to my ass and I gasped. He took this chance to slip his tongue into my mouth and I lost myself completely. His hands slid up my hips and back to my waist but this time they were under my shirt. It sent shivers up my spine and goosebumps down my arms and a moan escaped my lips, or was it his, I couldn't tell anymore and damn was it just me or was it getting hot in here, which sounds really stupid since we're outside but the things he was making me feel were something else.

I moaned again as I felt his lips on my neck and hell if I know when they left my mouth.

His lips trailed back to my mouth which he reluctantly pulled away from.

He was breathing heavily but then again, so was I. "We really need to stop before I take you right here on this beach." He whispered huskily.

"You're right." I said, then looked into his eyes and smirked. "So, your place or mine?"
