The reader is called in by Fazbear entertainment to figure just what is going on with the Sun/Moon Drop animatronic, seeing as it has become something of a, quote, 'liability'. Now, you have been following Fazbear entertainment ever since you heard about it, and traced it all the was back to Fazbear Pizza. You know something is up and are determined to get to the bottom of it. But you also know that if you don't, that, that animatronic will be decommissioned. You know for a fact that those animatronics there are more than just incredibly made robots, they are alive. They have sentience. So if you can't prove that, and find out what's happening, they will be decommissioned. Which is death to them. They'll be ripped apart and thrown away. Scrap.
Before you were hired for this, you went to the Pizza Plex to check it out, out of your own curiosity. Confirming your suspicions that they are not only alive but that they most likely used the same exact exoskeletons for Chika and Freddy, and reused the others to make Roxy and Monty. Otherwise, why would Chika eat pizza? Eat garbage? That has been said to have happened since the beginning of Chika's existence. Why, would you give a animatronic, (Roxy) have insecurity? How would you even program that? Where is Foxy? Bonnie? What is going on with Monty? They've said that they have the 'Monty situation' under control but they also want you to look into that on the side.

You will be helping SunDrop in the daycare until the kids leave, then talking to them about what's going on. After talking to Sun, you will try to get to know Moon. Which, while it will certainly prove to be difficult, will be safe for you at least. The staff have built a sort of cell? To hold MoonDrop so you can safely talk to them until you deem they are  safe to roam freely. You have someone working with you who works on Sun when they need a tune up so if you can help Moon is any way, David, will be able to try and find and fix what's wrong.
Today is the first day you'll be working here. Exciting but also terrifying. David, from parts and services meets you at the front and walks with you to the daycare. "Okay, just so you know, Sun has a lot of energy so they can keep up with the kids so be prepared. I've told him that you're coming so he is extremely excited to meet you." You nod smiling. From what you've heard about Sun, they seem very bright and sweet, pun intended. "We always try to let them know when a new person it taken on by staff so they won't think you're a intruder or something. To ensure your safety as well as everyone else's." You nod. "That makes perfect sense. I mean, they're also there to protect the kids so I feel like that's just common sense, especially since I'm going to work with them." You two reach the big 'ol doors of the daycare. "All I can say is good luck, here is your remote for the lights, and if you need me, just call me on the walkie." He says, handing you the remote and a walkie-talkie, tuned to his on his belt. "Sweet! I'll talk to you later." Waving to him as you open the doors. He saluted you and leaves to head to parts and services. You peek your head in, you'd never been in the daycare before so this is all new to you. You spot a gaggle of younger kids in a circle and some older kids playing in the slides and ball pit. You go into the room closing the door. You then spot SunDrop in the middle of the circle of pre-schoolers. You wave enthusiastically at them, silently to get Sun's attention. They spot you and tell the kids to go play so they can talk to you. They reach you in four steps. Beaver DAYM, they are tall. "Hi! You must be Y/n! I've been dying to meet you. I can't wait to play today!" They say practically vibrating with excitement, their arms in the air. You giggle. "It's nice to meet you too Sun I've been wanting to meet you." Their sun rays spin, beaming. They grab your hand. "Let's go!" Gently pulling you to come play with the kids.
By the end of the day, Sun is covered in a layer of glitter glue and both of you have stickers everywhere. You chuckle. "Well that was fun." Sun looks to you. "Right? I've been wanting to have a new friend. David is nice but I only get to see him when I need to be fixed or upgraded." You smile, peeling of a sticker from the nose on their face plate. "Well now you have me." Sun's rays spin. "Plus, you're not completely alone are you? You can talk to Moon right?" You had heard from David that the two of them may be able to communicate. He's caught them talking to Moon before. Sun then looks kind of sad. "No, you're right. I'm not alone. I can talk to Moon whenever I want, they're in here." They say tapping their head with their finger. You nod. "But?" Sun sighs, or makes a sighing sound rather. "But it's not the same. You know we used to be separate? We could work and play together, Moon would get the kids to wind down and take their naps and I would keep them entertained with them." Your eyes widened. "I... I didn't. What-Why are you combine now? What happened?" He scoffs a little. "Well that's why you're here isn't it? But I guess they wouldn't tell you huh." You shook your head. "I didn't want to hear it from the company. They don't take you seriously. I wanted to hear it from the ones involved, besides who would now better than you and Moon?" Sun freezes for a moment, their eyes wide, shocked almost. Raising a finger to you. "A moment please." You nod. Sun walks over to the side, away from you. And whispers to themselves. "are they serious?" "I think so! This is so nice! I like them!" "chill sunny you just met them." "Oh admit it you like them too!" "ah pfft! as if! they may seem nice but you never know." "Hah! You think they're nice!" "oh whatever." You giggle, hearing the conversation. While it sounded like Sun was talking to themself, you could tell it was them talking to Moon. Sun peeks over at you, realizing. You chuckle. Sun walks over back to you. "So.....Sunny?" It looks like they're blushing, you're a little shocked, you didn't know they could do that. You brush it off. Sun nods. "That's what Moon calls me usually." You smile. "Can I call you that." You ask, holding your hands behind you. "Uh-I I mean of course you can! You can can call me whatever you like sunbite!" He replies sweetly. You hum amused. "What did ya' say?~" They stopped, backtracking, flustered. "I- um that's what I usually use to refer to the kids but you're not a kid, I'm sorry is that not alright?" You wave them off laughing. "No, Sunny it's fine I'm just teasing darlin'. " Sun is still very flustered. You assume Moon is talking to them cause Sun says something while looking away. "Oh hush Moon! They're just being sweet!" You look at Sun questioningly. "What did Moon say?" They look at you. "That you're flirting. B-but that's silly right? Besides we're an animatronic." You smile at them, amused. "Well, I may have been a little bit. And anyway, you are still very much alive." It looks like Sun is steaming. You laugh. "Did I break you Sun?" Their rays are spinning, face flushed. "Wha-no! I'm just overheating a little bit! It's fine." You chuckle. "Okay. Can I ask you something?" You say changing the subject back. "S-sure sunbite." You smile at the name. "Would it be alright if I talked to Moon?" Their eyes widened. "I-I uh I mean sure! I-if that's what you want!" You nod. "If you could come over to get in the box." Gesturing to the clear cell in the corner of the daycare. "you mean the cell." You could tell that was Moon speaking through Sun. You sigh. "You could call it that. I see it more as a... safety precaution to ensure my safety. As well as yours." You say whispering the last part. Sun cocks their head. They step into the box, you closing the door behind. The locking mechanism engages immediately after. "Okay, I'm going to turn the lights off now okay?" Sun nods. "We're ready." You smile at them. You take out your remote David gave you, pushing the button. Once the lights go out, the lights on the container turn on so you can see Moon. You see them change from Sun to Moon. Sun seemed like they were in pain, you get closer to the glass. "Are you okay?! Does it hurt you?! I shouldn't have asked!" You say concerned. Now, Moon, chuckles at this, their voice deeper than Sun's. "Don't worry about it Starling, it's always like this. That's part of why we don't turn off the lights. But to answer your question, yes, it does. Besides, I've been wanting to talk to you myself." You listen but are star struck. "Wow. You're really pretty." You blurt out. Moon freezes, their face flushed, confused. "I- mean I've never seen you before, and Sun is pretty too but- jeez I'm gonna stop now." You stop yourself, blushing. Moon bursts out laughing at you, wiping a-a tear? They can cry? "Thank you Starlight, Sun say thank you as well, we think your pretty too~" Moon says, sitting, resting their head on their clawed hand. You giggle, still flustered. "You two and your nicknames." Moon replies. "What you like Sun's but not mine?" They say amused, feigning hurt. "No it's not that. I like it, it's cute." You say smiling, sitting on the floor, legs crisscross. Moon chuckles. "Now I have a question." You nod. "What did you mean by this container is for your and our safety?" You sighed laughing lightly, your head hanging low. "You heard that huh? Well, I was hired to try and figure out what's going on with you. You know that." Moon nods eyes narrowing. "I do." You continue. "I'm thinking it's some kind of virus, based on what I've heard from David and things from Sun. Is that about right?" Moon rubs his metal neck. "Wow. Right on the mark there Starlight, you sure you shouldn't be a detective or something?" Moon says smirking slightly pointing to you. You chuckle slightly. "I've considered it. My thought is, it only acts up at certain times because right now you seem like you're in complete control. And I'm pretty sure you would notice otherwise." He scoffs. "You got that right. It's like it's a different entity all together. Like there's another one of us in here." Moon says grasping at his head with both hands, they look terrified. "He is always there hiding somewhere in our programming. What he does, is when Sun tries to turn to me, he takes control. I'm in the backseat. It's my body but I can't control it. I'm not in the same place as Sun during that either, I can't talk to Sun either, just watch but I can't do much else than that." You look at him incredulously. "You say he, so it's obvious you know it's not either of you. Do you have any idea who he is?" Moon looks frustrated, understandably so. "Something purple. Purple guy." They shrug and sigh. "I don't know much else." You have a ground breaking revelation. "I need you to tell me something." You say getting completely serious. Moon straightens. "Y-yes?" Your eyebrows furrow. "Have you heard the name William Afton?" Moon's eyes fill with words and names looking through them, purple words stop and are all that's left. "Yes...... t-that shouldn't be possible. That's the founder. I-" Moon's eyes go back to normal. Scared. "That's him isn't it? Afton?" You drag your hand over your face. "Oh fuck. This is way bigger than I thought. That mother fucker is dead right? He's a ghost at best. So it must be part of that crazy fucking VR game. They must have downloaded Glitchtrap or part of it and created a virus. My questions are this." You say sighing deeply, hands together pointing at Moon. "Number one, who put the virus in you? And two, what's to keep it from spreading to Sun? Why only you? Why not the other animatronics? I suppose they probably infected Monty too since I'm also supposed to look into him too... Also why were you combined? Was it before or after the glitch/virus?" Moon knocks on the glass to snap you out of your little ramble. "I think I can kind of answer your questions." You snap your attention back to them. "There's this person, I don't know who, who has been going around in a bunny costume, their name is Vanny. I am 90% sure it was them. Also, I made a sort of, deal with Vanny." Your eyes widen. "What?!" "Yeah! What?! Moon you can't do stuff like that! And how come I have no memory of that?" Sun talking through Moon. You gasp. "Moon." Their eyes snap to you. You gaze at them concerned. "Moony what did you do?" "Alright alright! I'll tell you! Sun I don't need you and Y/n interrogating me!.... They were going to corrupt our whole system. Everything. So, I asked why I shouldn't be the only one. Between the two of us, I'm liked the least so why not? We were combined after I initially got the virus, so they especially didn't like me then. The daycare's ratings are higher now, and that way I keep Sun safe..." You lean against the glass, your hand to it. "Oh Moon... Why didn't you tell anyone?" Moon scoffs angrily. "I wasn't allowed. Until now I haven't gotten to be me. The staff has been careful to not let me out since. Vanny must be pissed." You stand up, hand pressed against the glass. "Good! I'm here for you! And Sun! When I said this glass cage is for your safety I meant it. If one more catastrophe occurs you could be decommissioned for good. Both of you!" Moon is shocked, they start crying. "Hah! I knew it.... You hear that Sun? They want to decommission us...." "I'm not gonna let that happen!" You exclaim, beating against the glass, crying now too. "You don't deserve that, you have done nothing wrong! That bastard Afton has hurt and killed enough people!" Moon looks lopsided at you. "P-people? You're calling us people?" You look at them slightly confused. "Of course! You're alive aren't you? You may be made of different things but we are fundamentally the same. Don't you think?" Moon leans this head and hands against the glass. "I do. We do. Other than David you are the only one who even remotely thinks so. You treat us like we are alive. Like we have feelings. You really are nice." You lean you head against the glass where Moon's is. "Alright. I've had enough of this glass." You say getting up to open the door. Moon panics. "U-um S-Starlight are you sure that's a good idea? I could hurt you!" "Do you think you would? Do you feel Afton near right now?" You reply about to unlock the door. "No! Not if I had the choice! And well....no." He says worried. The mechanism unlocks and the door opens. You rush to them, embracing Moon tightly. "I know I can't make what has already happened to you any better but I going to try my damndest to make sure it never happens again." You say, face in Moon's chest. Moon is silent sobbing. "Thank you Starlight. Y/n. From both of us." Moon says, separating, holding your face in their hand. Moon leans down and gives you a kiss on the cheek. More of a peck? But still very sweet. You blush, hold Moon's hand cupping your face. "Of course my Moonlight." Moon chuckles, flushed, resting his forehead? on yours. "Now that's cute."
