The Hallway

Band(s): Vrzel

Member(s): Kuu, Cion

-----------------------------------------

The halls were dark, lit only by the dim oil lamps that lined the walls on either side giving the hallways a dim glow. Dust covered nearly every inch of the hallway, leaving a cloud of particles as someone moved down the hall.  It was the current scene for the blonde walking that hall.

His name was Kuu, dressed in a pair of black sweat pants, a white graphic band T-shirt and a matching black jacket. . .he currently walked the hall, his green eyes scanning the area. His steps were slow, careful and hesitant as he was unsure what to even make of where he was. It was like a nightmare that he was currently living, the hallway surrounding him seeming so real. The last thing he remembered was falling asleep in his bed, maybe he was mistaken.

Stopping after a few minutes of walking, Kuu turned and looked behind him. There were no side halls he could turn down, no doors to open to enter another room. The hall seemed to go on forever, and the darkness left by the dim lights left very little for him to see. The darkness only got darker the further down he tried to see. It left him even more unsettled than he felt when he first started walking the hallway.

Just when he was going to start walking back in the direction he came, something caused him to spin around and face the opposite direction.

"Kuu~"

An eerie whisper of a voice sounded down the hall, and Kuu could have swore he not only recognized the voice, but also saw something move in the shadows. Standing frozen, he tried to see what moved.

"H. . .hello? Who's there?"

His voice shook as his heart raced in his chest. Trying to stay calm was proving harder and harder to do the longer he stood there.

Kuu collected himself a bit, wrapping his arms around himself for comfort when no response came from down the hall. A sigh, slipped from him as he gave a quick glance over his shoulder and then looked back to where the voice came from.

Now, to Kuu's knowledge of horror films, he knew better than to chase after the voice. . .especially since he was by himself. Also, just standing around like he was left him a sitting duck. That was something he just didn't want, it was bad enough he already made the mistake of calling out to whoever or whatever had called out his name. He prayed he hadn't sealed his fate doing that. He would love to just get out of there though.

Looking either direction, Kuu gave a bit of a whine as he tried to decide if he wanted to go towards the voice, or turn his back to it. Both ideas were horrible ideas. On one hand he'd be walking towards danger, on the other danger could rush up behind him at any second if he turned his back.

"Turn around~"

That same quiet whispering voice spoke once more causing Kuu to spin around once more and look behind him. Panicked and shaking, his stomach was twisted and sick, he had to make a decision. Though, he did have to take into account there were two voices, one from either direction. Did he go towards the one that knew his name or the one that told him to turn around? One seemed just a little safer than the other, but still jut as dangerous.

The thoughts left Kuu bouncing in his spot, kicking up a little dust in the process.

"The other way~"

"Kuu. . .this way~"

The voices were starting to come a little more frequent, which had Kuu glancing in both directions as they echoed in his ears.

"Quiet! Just stop! I wanna go home!"

Cupping his hands over his ears, Kuu tried to block out the voices.

"Come this way~"

"Kuu~"

"Turn around~"

"Follow me~"

"QUIET!!!"

The scream echoed throughout the hallway, Kuu having had enough. A frightened sob escaped from his lips, tears pooling at the corner of his eyes as he stood there.

"Goodbye~"

Kuu froze as all went silent. His hands slowly lowering from his ears, slowly looking around. It was dead silent, not even the dust was being kicked up at the moment. A chill ran over every inch of Kuu, something wasn't right. It was all too quiet, too quiet for nothing to happen.

One light went out at the far end of either side of the hall. Kuu jumped and let out a surprised yelp. His green eyes were wide, watching as another set of lights went out. The darkness slowly closing in on him. And then another, and another light burnt out. The closer they got to him, the faster they burned out.

Kuu was in a complete panic at this point. Breathing heavily, his heart nearly beating out of his chest, the fear laced in his eyes was enough to warn anyone who would have been around if not for him being alone. Just as the last lights started going out, Kuu ducked down, his hands over his head and his eyes closing.

"Nooo!"

Darkness overtook him, but something wasn't right. Someone was shaking him and he could hear someone talking. His eyes flew open as a gasp escaped from Kuu, bolting into an upright position on his bed. Covered in a cold sweat, his gaze quickly looked around before landing on his black haired companion.

Cion was standing next to the bed looking worried and slightly startled.

"You alright? You seemed to be having a nightmare."

Kuu stayed quiet before he slowly nodded.

"Y. . .yeah, just a nightmare."

"Must have been some nightmare. You were tossing and turning like you had ants in your bed."

Running his hands over his face and lowering his head a bit, Kuu sighed and closed his eyes for a second.

"Yeah, it was a nightmare."

"Must have been quite the nightmare."

A  laugh escaped Kuu as he raised his gaze to Cion.

"Well, you're safe here and I'm just down the hall. Try and get some sleep."

Cion gave a smile to Kuu before leaning over and pressing a kiss to his forehead. Moving away, he walked to the door and let himself out, leaving Kuu sitting there looking after him. As the door closed, Kuu slowly laid down and pulled the covers up to his chin. His eyes roamed over his entire room, fear and hesitation to fall back asleep swelling within him.

Slowly, he closed his eyes and drifted back to sleep.

When he next opened his eyes, Kuu was standing back in the middle of the hallway. Panic instantly filled him as he yelled out into the darkness.

"Nooooo!"
