Dead or Alive pt.2

Band: Nocturnal Bloodlust

Members: Natsu, Daichi

-------------------------------------

The sun was nearly gone leaving the world around Natsu in darkness. There was no sign of any other light except for what was left of the sun, just a crack of light on the horizon. The only sounds that could be heard was his breathing and the moans of the undead that were somewhere in the distance. Something someone didn't want when out on your own at night.

Natsu was currently crouched down behind a broken down car catching his breath. He had been running blindly out in the open searching for any possible sign that Daichi was nearby. Any sign would have been a good one at this point. The sheer thought of Daichi not having made it, it scared Natsu to no end.  He just had to keep believing that Daichi was okay.

Letting out a sigh, Natsu slowly raised up and glanced through the broken windows towards the zombies that were just milling about down the street. He hadn't been noticed yet.

BANG!!

The sudden sound had Natsu ducking back down, his heart racing and his eyes wide. He was scanning the darkened area for the origin of the sound. It sounded like a gunshot, and it was close as well. Now, anybody with half a mind would have avoided any sound of a gunshot knowing that it could be looters looking for quick supplies. Right now however, and that was Daichi. That gunshot was the only thing that could possibly lead him to the male, and he'd risk it being someone dangerous just to find out if he was right or wrong.

Natsu looked back over the car and stared at the few undead that had been attracted to the gunshot. A sigh escaping Natsu as he fully stood up and started running in the direction he heard the shot. He hoped that he was right and it was Daichi that had shot off the gun, but if he was shooting the gun, that meant he was in danger. A worried frown slid onto the males lips as he turned down a side street and continued running, keeping his eyes out for any zombies that could come out of nowhere.

"Daichi!"

Natsu risked being heard as he yelled out for the other. He slowed to a stop and waited for a few seconds, listening for the sounds around him. He was aware of the moaning sounds of the undead coming in his direction, but then he heard it. He heard a response back.

"Natsu!"

There was no mistake, that was Daichi's voice. He whipped around and took the alleyway heading in the direction he heard Daichi.

It didn't take long to find the male. He was trapped on top of some news stations van. Natsu stood at the opening of the alleyway before he pulled the gun from his waistband and aimed, firing off three rounds into three zombie heads watching them drop to the ground. It also happened to get the attention of some of the undead that were surrounding the van. Sure it wasn't exactly the best situation now, but it would at least allow Daichi a chance to get down.

"I'll meet you at the corner!"

With that Natsu waited a second to make sure Daichi got down before he turned and ran leading the Zombies around. He knew he was faster and could easily lose them, it was just a matter of doing so and getting back to Daichi that was the thing. But one way or the other he would meet back up with the male, that he would make sure of.

After a few random turns, two hiding places and a full on sprint the entire time, Natsu had showed up at the corner he was to meet Daichi at. He was quiet and careful as his gaze wandered over the area.

"Daichi. . ."

Natsu whispered as loud as he could without attracting much attention. When no response came, his stomach twisted and he was fearing the worst. A rustle near some store had caught his attention as he turned and aimed his gun, ready for anything. When Daichi came out however, the two stared at eachother for the briefest of moments before they ran at eachother.

Natsu dropped the gun, his hands flying up and cupping the others face before his lips crashed against Daichi's in an emotional kiss. All his fear he felt, happiness and relief poured into the kiss leaving Daichi stunned in place with wide eyes. Even as Natsu pulled away from the kiss, Daichi's lips were still tingling and a blush rose onto his cheeks.

"Don't ever do that to me again. From now on, if either of us have to go out, we go together. But I'm not going to risk losing you again."

Daichi was working on getting his brain to function right, but he nodded his head letting the other know that he had heard him. Daichi knew that he and Natsu were close, and his own feelings for the male. He never imagined that they were reciprocated like this, which is why he was so shocked. He slowly slipped out of shock and looked towards Natsu.

"I don't think I'm going to be scavenging anytime soon after this."

Natsu gave a smile, fighting back his tears.

"Good, because even if you were I wouldn't let you go. Not without me. . .or ever if I had any say in it."

A laugh came from both males before Natsu pulled Daichi in for a gentler, sweeter kiss before pulling away and sighing.

"What do you say we find our way back home?"

Daichi was about to answer when zombies started pouring out of the alleyways in massive numbers. Both males turned their attention towards them only to turn in the opposite direction, running down the street. Being out in the open at night like this was insanity, it was dangerous and stupid, but the two had no other choice. Their only goals right now was to stay alive and get back to where they were currently calling home.

"We should find somewhere to use for cover till morning. Go out when its safer!"

Daichi yelled over the moans, gurgles and growls of the undead behind them. His gaze drifted behind them, looking at the hoard chasing them. He quickly looked back in front of him turning down another side street with Natsu at his side.

"No, if we keep running we can make it back before hand. Someone has to be waiting at the door for us. I promised I would bring you home, that I would find you no matter what."

Daichi didn't like the idea but he trusted Natsu to no end.  If he said that he would get them home then he would trust that he would. With his uncertainty however, he reached forward with one of his hands and grasped hold of Natsu's not wanting to fall behind.

After a few good minutes passed of running, the two ducked into a nearby convenient store. The two had given the small shop a once over before coming to sit next to one another. They were leaned up against the wall and just trying to catch their breaths. Daichi's head rested upon Natsu's shoulder. They had a few things they could eat on while being held up, but running all night back to where they were staying was just not going to work.

"Okay, so maybe you were right. Running all night isn't going to work."

Natsu gave a tired laugh before glancing over at Daichi. He stared for a second, giving a curious look.

"Daichi? Hey, Daichi. . .?"

It was the soft breathing on his neck that gave away to the fact that Daichi had fallen asleep. A sigh escaped from Natsu's lips as he smiled a bit. He pressed a kiss to the top of his head.

"Looks like we will stay here for a bit. Rest well."

Natsu turned his attention towards the door and stared at it for a moment before leaning his head back holding off from falling asleep and failing miserably at it.

~ ~ ~ ~

Natsu found himself startling awake as a can was kicked around. He glanced around a second noting that Daichi wasn't there. Panic swelled within him as he got up from his seated position.

"Daichi?"

There was sheer panic in his voice. But relief washed over him as said male's head popped up a row over.

"Sorry, I didn't want to wake you, and I thought I would gather what I could here before heading out."

A smile formed on Daichi's lips, Natsu on the other hand wondered how long they had been asleep, or even when he had fallen asleep. He looked towards the doors and stared out the glass, it was still dark so they couldn't have stayed asleep for long. Natsu turned his attention back to Daichi.

"Just grab a few more things, I wanna get back soon."

He headed towards the door and stood watch until Daichi joined him there. Natsu reached over and took hold of Daichi's hand and looked at him.

"Don't let go, for any reason."

Natsu said being completely serious. Daichi nodded and smiled.

"I didn't plan on it. Let's get home."

"Sounds like a good idea to me."

Natsu and Daichi carefully stepped out of the convenient store and looked around for any potential threats. When none were presented, the two took off at a run. A good stretch of the run the two had no problems. It was only when their building was coming into view did their luck change.

They were standing just a couple blocks away from their building, the sun threatening to rise over the horizon. The two were catching their breaths and smiling, but fear entered their eyes as they whipped around. The hoard they were running from had somehow caught up with them. They didn't wait for another second before they were running again. Counting the seconds till they were back home.

When they reached the building doors, both of them stared. No one was there. They were panicked and pounding on the doors, yelling for someone to come get them. But with each second that passed, the hoard got closer. Continuously looking back over their shoulders as they screamed and yelled for help. But it all seemed for naught, this was how they were going to die.

At the last second, the doors were flung open and both males were stumbling inside. They fell to the ground on their knees, it was Natsu who let himself fall onto his back and stared at the ceiling breathing heavily. Daichi just sat in a daze of sheer disbelief right now.

"I told you I would get you home. . ."

Daichi slowly turned his attention towards Natsu before he sighed and smiled.

"I never doubted you."

Daichi laid down on his back beside Natsu and laced his fingers together with the others. He stared and gave a small smile, Natsu smiling back.

"Welcome home Daichi. . .Welcome home. . ."
