"A picnic at night? Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous," you mumbled, making your way up the hill.

A picnic blanket was already laid out; you sat down with your picnic basket and waited. To be honest, you expected everybody to show up to a ridiculous invitation Gao had sent out. What could you say? He was the pinnacle of ridiculous. After waiting for about half an hour with nobody showing up, it was crystal clear to you that you were tricked. You gazed up at the stars, watching them twinkle in the dark canvas of the world. It made no difference: viewing the sky from your bedroom window versus seeing it on a hill on a lonely picnic blanket.

With Kiri Hyoryu. Apparently he showed up.

You could probably paint the picture already - with Kuguru leading the frontal assault with her lethal sword of shipping and her trusty shield of excuses. She needs to get herself a hobby. You weren't sure that meddling in the affairs of her peers' love lives was one but no one made you the judge of that. It was just creepy. Gao was probably in on this too.

"So, they set us up huh?" Kiri said, breaking the silence that made itself prominent in the air. A breeze of cool, chilly wind blew, making your hair flap with it. You breathed in and hummed in response.

"Winter is approaching," you commented, laying on your back after sitting up for long. Kiri hummed in response.

"Is something supposed to happen?" He asked, breaking his gaze from the stars.

"Do you want something to happen?" You looked at him quizzically. You were half expecting him to say yes. He didn't answer.

"The Hundred Demon monster attacks are becoming less frequent," you changed the topic. Bad conversation starter.

"Yeah," he responded, however mumbling something to himself. You sighed as you knew you wouldn't get an answer if you pressed matters any further. You slightly wince at the underside of your right leg as it made contact with the ground.

"Are you okay?" Kiri questioned, immediately redirecting his attention to you. "Does your leg still hurt?"

You shot upwards, grabbing onto your leg. You suddenly felt the increasingly difficulty to move your leg. "Dang it."

"Try to hold still," he suggested, slight panic seeping into his voice. To be honest, there wasn't anything he could do to help in his human form. He wasn't a medic or had any medical supplies on hand. Just then, there was a rustling sound. While you curled up into a ball and clamped your leg, Kiri assumed a defensive position of you.

This definitely wasn't part of their setup, Kiri thought as the creature burst into the opening. A wild monster. More like a Hundred Demon monster.

It was obvious to him - the negative aura it emitted screamed Hundred Demon. To you, not so much but it did look aggressive. On its forehead, a huge red cross glowed eerily. It glanced up at the hill and howled.

"Kiri..." you groaned as the pain grew stronger. He gasped. On the side of your leg, the same mark appeared.

"Revenge!" The monster yelled as it charged up the hill.

Leaving him with limited options, he transformed into the Third Omni Water Lord, Miserea - his true form. He stood in all his glory, towering before you. Miserea faced the impending monster.

"That's far enough," he declared, extending his arm out. Columns of water formed and swirled beside him to swarm the intruding monster, almost overwhelming it immediately. As you watch the torrents threatened to close in on the monster, you felt fearful. It terrified you if the same happened if Kiri suddenly snapped.

But why would he do that, you questioned your bizarre imagination. He wouldn't hurt us. Would he? What terrified you even more was that you didn't have a definite answer. The tall pillars of water continued to swirl as it became compact for the attacker.

"Revenge on you!" It yelled, using its horns to bang against its watery bars.

"You've caused [Name] hurt. I will make sure you will never hurt her again," Miserea slowly closed his fist, controlling his torrents to close in on the monster. The water sizzled upon the contact of the monster's skin, as if it were boiling hot.

"Revenge!" It's red cross glowed brighter as it howled in pain. Instantaneously, the agony you've been experiencing multiplied tenfold.

"Kiri!" You cried out, nearly screaming your lungs out.

You felt as if your leg was cut open - the searing pain left you gasping for air. Tears escaped your eyes as your breathing quickly became hitched. The cross marking on your leg glowed a bright red that resembled the unmistakable colour of fresh blood. Immediately, Miserea relieved his choking death grip on the monster but didn't release it. Whipping around, he kneeled next to you. Heaving for air and sobbing your eyes out, you were a mess.

"No no no no no. I am not losing you. Not again. Not again," Miserea said, his words tumbling off his tongue very quickly.

Besides being in a ton of physical pain, you felt a pang in your heart. You've fought that monster before, and nearly died if not for Miserea giving up a part of his life force to revive you. You felt guilty because he was going to do it again. You steadied your breathing, forcing yourself to breathe calmly for Kiri's sake. Even though your leg felt raw and stinging.

"You aren't bleeding but we need to remove the Huntsmen mark," Miserea formed a small globe of water in his palm.

"It's... it's going to be painful but it'll permanently erase the mark so that the monster wouldn't hurt you again," he continued softly, almost mumbling the last part to himself, stroking your cheek with his thumb. You mustered a nod.

Wiping away the remaining tears, you pried your hands off your leg and lay on your back again so that Miserea could heal you. However, he repositioned you so that you were sitting on his lap with your back against his chest. You brought your right leg as close to your body and allowed Miserea to wrap his free arm around your torso.

"It's going to be okay," he promised, giving your side a light squeeze for reassurance. If you could, you would have blushed.

Bringing the water globe close to your leg, you braced yourself. Upon first contact, you screamed. It stung like hell. You couldn't imagine how it was worse than before, but it was the cherry on top. You gripped the neckline of your hoodie and brought it to your mouth. At least you muffled your screaming. Miserea's grip on your hip tightened.

"Revenge!" The monster yelled behind its torrent jail. Just as its forehead glowed brighter, your scream grew louder.

"Kiri, stop!" You begged through your mouthful of hoodie, even though you knew it was for the best. It was like deepening the wound that wasn't there. You clenched his arm as he continued to push the globe onto your mark. The luminous red mark made the water resemble blood, making you hyperventilate and nauseous. It made the Omni Water Lord look even more terrifying - like he had your blood in his hand.

Miserea didn't look so good either - his brows were furrowed in concentration as beads of sweat formed along his hairline. He appeared to be holding his breath because every time he attempted to press the healing water harder, he grunted with effort and hugged you tighter.

While the both of you fought against your own battles of agony, the initially reinforced pillars of water slowly began to cease. Miserea had a quarter left of the globe when the Hundred Demon monster saw this opportunity and began attacking its weakening walls of confinement. He winced, using his hand that held you to grip his side.

"Hang... in there [Name]," the Omni Water Lord gasped for air as he gave a final push. Besides you bawling your eyes out and probably cutting off circulation in one of Miserea's arms, the globe of water finally dissolved onto your leg. Simultaneously, the torrents of water were weakened so much that the monster managed to break free, scattering it into tiny droplets of water, and charged.

"Reven-"

Blast.

"Be gone." Mustering up any remaining strength in him, Miserea blasted a jet of high speed water straight through the monster's body. It formed a circular hole in its chest as it fell to its knees and disappeared in an explosion of small yellow sparkles. The card fluttered to the ground as a glowing red aura outlined it, slowly fading away.

Exhausted, the both of you supported each other's weight - Miserea slumped against your back while you against his chest. His arms dangled from your body as one of yours held onto one of his while the other rested on the picnic blanket. Altogether, you and Miserea were an entanglement of arms, legs and hair. The night air was filled with gasping and coughing. The both of you didn't say anything for a while until Miserea's breathing stabilized.

"Your safe now, [Name]," he reassured again. You felt the mist in your eyes as your whole body shook.

"Kiri..." you hiccuped, turning your body to engulf him in a tight hug. He winced at first, which made you worry, before reciprocating the action as he rubbed you back and whispered sweet nothings into your ear.

"I almost lost you," Miserea stroked your soft hair. He leaned forward as his lips met yours. Your hands were entangled his hair as he pulled you closer, deepening the kiss. He gave you many kisses - his lips would part from yours before hungrily kissing you again, loving the taste of your lips. Finally parting from the kiss, the both of you rested your foreheads against each other, sharing breaths.

"[Name] [S/n], I love you so much. Everyday, I see your smile and everyday I want to protect that smile of hope. I never want to see you hurt. In my previous encounters of you in the past, I could have never done that. I was a coward and let you slip by me. I promise not to let you slip by this time. [Name], you're unique - you're beautiful, smart, fearless and selfless. I'm lucky to have met you," he smiled, wiping away your tears.

"Please stay," you sniffed, desperately grasping his hands in yours, thinking that he was leaving you.

"[Name], I want to be more than your friend. I want to be your buddy to protect you when in danger, to heal you when you're hurt, to hug you when you're alone. I want to always be with you, never leaving your side. I want us to grow together, learn together and buddyfight together because I love you so much," Miserea finished, tears glistening at the corners of his eyes.

"Kiri, Miserea, I love you too." Tears traced your cheeks as Miserea transformed back to Kiri Hyoryu. He kissed you, constantly going back for more as the both of you blushed wildly.

His kisses makes me mad, you thought as he stopped to hug you, your breathing in sync.

"I love you, you know that?" Kiri said.

"Didn't you just say that?" You asked.

"I did. I just wanted to say it again."

While the two of you were having your confession session, a young buddy cop flew down from the sky unnoticed. Picking up the Hundred Demon monster card, he made a report to HQ.

"Yes Commander I. I have secured the card. Returning right away. Thank you," he said, ending the call.

"Nin."

"What is it Tsukikage?" As the young cop's buddy pointed in the direction of where you were, he began to blush.

"W-we aren't supposed to be here!" He whispered-yelled, quickly engaging his buddy skill to fly away in the night with the card in hand.

How can Zanya be so naive at times, Tsukikage thought, shaking his head before joining his blushing partner.
