Weiss Versus Aldebrand
In a field far away from the town, a lady with a scythe stands amongst the sea of grass - standing still like a sunflower. Her white robes flap in the wind while her eyes are closed.
The scene itself is rather picturesque - the ever blue sky above, the vast expanse of grass, and the white robed lady standing there, simply enjoying nature.
However, the peace is disturbed by a lance-like shard made of white ice flies toward her. She moves her body, but the ice shard makes contact with her body, exploding into a cloud of ice mist.
A large gout of flame - appearing out of seemingly nowhere - causes the icy mist to quickly vanish and another explosion follows, but smoke replaces the where the ice mist was.
Once the smoke cloud is blown away by the wind, two people are revealed.
A young man with red cape and a silver blade and the same lady from before. Except the young man's blade had been perfectly countered with the spear-like tip of the of the lady's scythe.
Neither of them have a trace of any emotion on their face - instead, they moved back and charged at one anther without an exchange of words.
The young man - Aldebrand - formed pure flames in the air without any hint of a chant and launched them at the lady - Eirwen.
She countered with lance-shaped shards of blackened water as she was charging at Aldebrand.
Again, the melee charge resolved fruitlessly - for the handguard of Aldebrand's sword had struck between two sides of Eirwen's scythe - the very tip of Aldebrand's sword coming so close to her pupil to the point the sword reflected against the moistened surface of her eye.
Separating again, they stare at one another like a hawk watching its prey.
Even as hours passed, they still stared at one another while not yet moved from their spots.
If one were to read either one's mind, they would be surprised at the rapid thought that even though the two combatants were human, their minds worked like a supercomputer.
The two were capable of sensing in full 360° degrees - every movement was analyzed for the most minute detail. Every nanometer the grass at their feet moved, the wind current, even the air they breathed - both of them were determined to not let any detail slip past their defenses.
After all, this was not their first fight. Many before lead to this one, which would possibly lead to more.
Weiss created a shard of earth without so much as a motion or word, sending it flying through almost telepathic means at Aldebrand.
Yet with equal ease, Aldebrand did not just block it - he violently struck the shard with lightning so powerful it had turned the rock into magma, then he had sent the magma flying at Weiss, who responded kindly by creating a wall of freezing water followed with a earthen wall behind the water as a means of protection.
Aldebrand seized this chance to quickly appear right in front of her to pierce with his sword, yet was perfectly blocked by Weiss' scythe while the strike caused the wind to fiercely move in the direction of the sword thrust as if his own sword was imbued with the wind attribute.
Though such a powerful wind should have damaged the ground and the earthen wall due to the vortex current created - it did not. This was not due to Aldebrand lacking in power, but rather because he manipulated the very wind in order not to alter his surroundings.
This was one of the many demonstrations of their skill, for it was much more difficult to perform devastating attacks that did harm to the target, but not to the environment.
Weiss took the opportunity to pierce Aldebrand with the water and the earth from the wall she had previously made, but it was useless, as he had blocked it with an earthen wall of his own.
Weiss moved back, to which Aldebrand seized the chance to strike again. Once more he failed, and again did the two find themselves in the same situation as before.
Couldn't one just assassinate the other? Nay, for many years and for the hundreds of battles they fought, they understood well that just ending it with a mere assassination would be dishonorable to not only to their worthy opponent, but to themselves as well. They had gone too far to just let an assassination end it for good, and never would they find an opponent of the same caliber as theirs again. Perhaps they would face off against a similar opponent, but such chances are slim in this world.
It was quite poetic in its own way. Two combatants with polar opposite abilities fighting one another like this.
To sort of break the silent standoff, Weiss creates a giant lance made of blackened ice and sends it flying at mach 10 towards Aldebrand, who envelops his blade with a vibrantly burning flame and bisects the shard cleanly.
However, he is sent flying into the town and slams right into the town center.
As he gets up, wordlessly repaired the impact site, and enchants the town with a protective coat of purified light, causing the building exteriors to give off a faint glow.
In the skies above, Weiss stands in front of a blackened sun, looking at Aldebrand below. With a single motion, tendrils of black light fall from the heavens above, aimed straight at him.
With ease, Aldebrand counters each one and deflected a few - the blackened light causing deep gashes in the ground.
Weiss prepares her next attack aimed at Aldebrand - who leapt at her to attack as well - until a black beam that seemed to absorb all light shatters the attack completely.
"Alright, that's enough you two," says a voice.
Turning to look at the owner of the voice, it is Anastasia Laurenci. A person who is unmistakably more powerful than Weiss and Aldebrand combined. Serves as the mediator between the two.
Weiss and Aldebrand stop what they were doing and walk (albeit in midair) towards Anastasia with a rather peeved air around them.
"Try not to start a fight so quickly, okay?" she asks quite nicely.
Then the aura from Weiss and Aldebrand gives a sort of "whatever" feeling causes the pair to be struck by Anastasia - who had pulled out a paper fan to smack the two over the head with.
