Schlatt In The Past (Part 1)

(Hello! This is a quick message from the author. Before you read the story, I would just like to say that I got the idea from a YouTuber by the name of Dream Simp. I'll have a link up above to their channel if you wish to check it out, as this one-shot is pretty much a written version of their amazing series. Thanks, Aaron.)

-3rd Person POV: Omniscient-

It was later on in the day, maybe five o'clock PM, and the scene was set in a peaceful field of grass, swaying ever so slightly in the evening breeze. The sky shone down it's hazy, half-moon gaze upon the field, and everything was calm. That is, until the portal appeared. Warping and blue, glowing eerily, it dropped out a figure, popping out of existence shortly afterwards. The figure looked peaked out of it's brown-ish gray eyes at the world around it, it's hands clasped together tightly in fear. When it saw no immediate threats, it moved it's head around to see where it was with the simple thought of 'where am I?'

Shrugging slightly, it stood up, bringing it's last memory to mind. Maybe to orient itself, or maybe just for comfort, either fit. Last it knew, it was doing a challenge with it's close friend, Wilbur Soot. It's baby blue sweater said as much, sopping wet from being dunked in water. The rest of it's outfit was simple: black shorts, with white socks, and black and white converse. It also had a black kerchief tie around it's arm, and last, but certainly not least, a red scarf. It's physical features, in a basic description, were short, it's messy, side-swept white blonde hair falling over it's horns, as well as somewhat covering its well-framed face. It's light olive skin was soft and rosy, and it had a golden halo adorning it's head, signifying purity. It sighed. Might as well start walking-

Just then, a man it knew well walked into the clearing, chocolate brown hair underneath a gray hat. His black coat on top of his white shirt made him almost unrecognizable, as he normally wore a yellow jacket. His dark blue pants were tucked in neatly under a pair of black shoes, a light pink kerchief tie around his leg. He had bandages on his hands, maybe attained from a fight, as well as a leather strap around his chest, likely for the guitar that he loved to play. His diamond sword glinted in his grasp as he spotted the other, who happily thought 'Wilbur', running up to it's friend. He had just enough time to wonder 'who the hell is that?' before he was tackle-hugged, barely keeping on his feet. Just as he recognized it as Schlatt, it cried, "Wilbur! Where the hell are we?" He looked at it in skepticism, asking, "Is this a joke, or something?"

It looked up at him, the confusion imminent in it's eyes. "What?" He noticed the dead look in his friend's eyes, and began to ask, "And why are you so-" But he wasn't able to finish, as Wilbur yelled, "UGH, STOP AVOIDING THE FUCKING QUESTION!" It whimpered, putting it's hands over it's mouth, and curling into a ball, hands moving over it's head. "S-So loud.." It murmured, earning a semi-shocked glance from the previously yelling Wilbur. He looked away from it with a sigh, hearing it say "I'm sorry..." He exhaled, telling the other that it was fine with a small eye roll. It smiled slightly. "O-Okay.." Wilbur made a quick decision, almost immediately regretting it afterwards as it clung to him. "Well, since you don't know what's happening, I'll bring you with me." Earning another grateful smile. "Okay."

-Time Skip: Five Minutes-

Tommy And Tubbo were busy conversing in the small space above their cavern as Wilbur walked in, calling Tommy's name only once with an annoyed look. Tommy walker over to Wilbur, Tubbo leaving the room, and the creature from earlier clinging to Wilbur. Tommy raised an eyebrow, not yet seeing it, and looked up at his brunette friend. "What is it?" He asked curiously. Wilbur took a small, yet deep breath, closing his eyes, before opening them, and explaining. "Well, we have a problem, but you can't mention it to anyone else." Tommy shrugged. "Okay." Wilbur sighed, moving it in front of him, though it still cling to him like a newborn kitten to it's mother. "Well, we have to deal with him." Tommy's eyes widened, and his confused smile turned into a frown. "Is that-" Wilbur interrupted him, confirming his thoughts. "Yes, it is. He doesn't know what's happening." Wilbur added, as if that somehow made it better.

Tommy stopped looking at it, and instead up at Wilbur again as next he spoke. "And he won't stop clinging to me, since I'm the only person he remembers." He took another breath, looking straight at the blonde. "So, Tommy- Let him cling to you while I inspect what's happening in Manburg." He finished, looking down at it with slight annoyance as he finished his sentence. Tommy looked annoyed himself, eyes watery because he certainly didn't want to deal with it. "Fine.." They switched places, Schlatt now leaning on Tommy instead. "Sorry, Tommy." It opened it's eyes, and Tommy looked down at it. 'Guess he's awake...' It looked at him in puzzlement, asking, "who are you?" Tommy blinked a couple of times. "Uhmm-"

-With Wilbur-

Wilbur walked towards Quackity, who was wearing his black and blue suit, like what was now normal, black hair shining slightly in the bright lighting, Quackity drawing his blade as the other approached, wary. Wilbur sighed, closing and opening his eyes. "Relax, I'm not planning anything." Quackity shrugged, putting away his sword, and asking with a small smirk, "Well what do you need?" Wilbur blinked slowly, frowning. "Nothing, I was just wondering if you guys have seen Schlatt." Quackity shook his head no, smirk turning into a frown. "No, why?" Wilbur shook his head slightly. "No reason, I'll be leaving now." He then walked away, Quackity staring after him in perplexity.

-With the other Schlatt-

The creature who was now identified as Schlatt and Tubbo were conversing happily in the small living area, Tubbo's eyes filled with sparkly joy. "So cute!" Tubbo exclaimed, hugging Schlatt, who smiled. Tommy, who had been oddly silent, watched from the corner. Then, Tubbo sighed. "What happened to you.?" Schlatt curled into a ball, hands over his head, as he yelled, "CAN SOMEONE PLEASE JUST TELL ME WHAT I DID?!" Tubbo looked at him sadly, and Tommy averted his darkened gaze. Schlatt started crying, eyes still closed, and said that he should just go. He then disappeared, causing Tubbo to stare at where he had been in shock. Tommy spoke up, holding nobody's gaze with his now closed eyes. "Don't panic, he probably went to Wilbur's room."

In Wilbur's room, like Tommy had predicted, Schlatt had his hands still over his head, tears openly cascading down his face as he wondered what he had done. Internally, he was yelling at himself to think.

-When Wilbur Got Back-

"Uhm, Wilbur..." Tubbo said, rubbing
his arm awkwardly, and looking away. Tommy wasn't looking at Wilbur either, and Wilbur raised his eyebrow. "What happened? Where's Schlatt?" Tubbo looked up at him awkwardly with a small frown. "Uhmm, we may or may not have upset him.." Wilbur shifted feet, gaze questioning. "Upset in what way.?" Tommy spoke up, looking at Wilbur solemnly. "Upset as in the way where he cried..." Wilbur's eyes widened. "How did you guys do that?" Tubbo took the chance to talk, explaining. "Well-"

-After they explained to Wilbur-

Schlatt still lay on the bed, wondering what he had done as Wilbur walked in sadly, looking over at Schlatt. He sighed, crossing his arms, and speaking up quietly. "I may hate you, but you're his old self, so I guess there's no point in getting mad.."

-In the morning-

Wilbur lay in his bed, Schlatt clinging to him with a small, sleepy smile. Then, Wilbur woke up slowly, looking around, before spotting Schlatt. He sat up tiredly. 'Fuck, I forgot about him.' He thought, looking at Schlatt. He shrugged, laying back down. 'Guess it wouldn't hurt to get a bit more sleep, though, seeing as I haven't really been getting that much because of the war, so eh, fuck it.'

-Later that day-

Schlatt sat in the garden-like entrance to the cavern, admiring a bee as it flew around, buzzing slightly. He smiled. At that moment, Tubbo walked in in high spirits, noticing Schlatt's admiration for bees almost immediately, eyes becoming wide and sparkly. "Do you like bees?" He asked peppily. Schlatt nodded yes. Not even five minutes later, the two were sat outside, admiring the bees and the sky, amongst other things. Wilbur came upon the two happily discussing, and smiled sadly. 'I forgot how sweet he was when he was younger.' He looked away. 'I wish he was always like this, but after that fight, he was never the same...' flashes of a past memory came to his mind, starting to pull him in. Schlatt spoke up, just spotting Wilbur. "Hey Wilbur, wanna join us?" Wilbur smiled solemnly. "Sure." He walked over to the two, the fight still flashing through his mind.

-Later On-

In Wilbur's room with the lights off, Wilbur was sleeping. Schlatt, not so much. He was awake, and had just done something hard, giving him a feeling of accomplishment. Then, he remembered that he had been wearing the same clothes for two days, and shrugged, deciding to see what Wilbur had in his closet. He changed, and walked back out of the closet, feeling kind of embarrassed. He had on one of Wilbur's sweaters, and it was way too big on him. He blushed, looking down at the oversized clothes. 'It's too big because I'm shorter than him-' he thought while running out of the room, hoping Wilbur wouldn't notice, which he didn't.

Walking out of the room, he saw Tommy and Tubbo, still awake, and staring at him. 'God, this is even more embarrassing-' He thought, crouching on the ground in an attempt not to be seen, and saying to please not look at him because he felt embarrassed. Tommy sighed, raising an eyebrow ever so slightly. "Just go to bed." He said, and Schlatt nodded, going back inside Wilbur's room, and falling asleep with the sole thought of 'this is so embarrassing' before falling asleep as far away from Wilbur as possible on the medium sized bed.

-In the morning-

When Wilbur slowly but groggily opened his eyes, and sat up, he found Schlatt wearing his extra jacket, and made a 'bruh' face. 'This bitch, seriously.' He thought, slightly annoyed, but not really.

-Later on (when Schlatt woke up)-

Wilbur was, by now, dressed, and had taken care of all the hygienic chores he needed to do for the day. He played on his phone, bored as all get out, when he noticed blue and white bracelets that he somewhat recognized around Schlatt's wrist. He looked at them, thinking. 'I know those bracelets... But from where?' He raised an eyebrow in thought, before getting a flicker of an image, almost like a flashback, but not quite, and his face fell. They had both worn those bracelets when they used to be friends, promising to never take them off. Guess that only remained true for one of them as time went on, and Schlatt became more evil. He still kept them, though, and that was what shocked Wilbur most. 'I need to talk to Tommy about this...' he thought, shaken.

-Later on in the afternoon-

Tommy, Wilbur, and Tubbo were all in the greenhouse-like area near the entrance of the base, talking about the flashbacks, and their involvement with both Schlatt's. "As much as I like this one better than the present day Schlatt, the others in Manburg said they haven't seen him in days, and they might start to suspect us because of the war, so, sadly, we're gonna have to find a way to change him back." They all shifted awkwardly. "This means we're gonna have to talk to BBH." Tommy spoke up. "But wouldn't that be a problem?" Wilbur sighed, blinking, and putting his hand on his chin in slight thought, pacing a bit. "Yes, it would, because of Skeppy. He wouldn't want you to talk to BBH because you framed him for burning Sapnap's Eiffel Tower."

Tubbo frowned. "I guess I can talk to Dream, and see if he can do it..." He suggested. Both Tommy and Wilbur smiled at that, though Wilbur less so. "Hey, you're right, Tubbo!" Tommy said, and Tubbo smiled happily.

-With Dream-

Dream and Skeppy sat by the campfire in their small campsite, conversing jovially, when Tubbo walked in, interrupting something Skeppy has been saying. "Hey Dream, I need to talk to you for a second..." Dream looked skeptical, but stood up, saying "okay?", and following Tubbo, who had begun walking back into the forest, leaving Skeppy alone. Once he reached Wilbur and Tommy, he said, "he's coming," and stood by their side with a sad smile. Dream arrived not long after, crossing his arms upon spotting Wilbur and Tommy. "So what did you need me for?" He asked, staring between the three under his mask.

Wilbur spoke up. "Well, we have a situation, and we think it can only be fixed with magic like yours and BBH's." Dream nodded, considering Wilbur's words carefully, before responding. "Oh. Well, what situation could you possibly be in where you would need mine, let alone BBH's magic?" Wilbur frowned, putting his hand on his chin as he spoke next. "Well, we need like yours and BBH's because of something that happened to Schlatt. We can't say it aloud here, so I'll teleport us somewhere else." Dream nodded, and Wilbur brought up a game screen, typing in a command that teleported them all to the greenhouse area prior mentioned in their home base. "Step back." He warned Tommy and Tubbo, who did so, as he typed another command.

Schlatt appeared in the arm he had just outstretched, looking up at Wilbur with tender curiosity. Dream took off his mask, brows furrowing as he stared at the younger version of Schlatt in shock. "That's-" he started, and Wilbur nodded. "Yes, it is Schlatt." Dream gulped, wrapping his mind around the image before him. "Do you think you can change him back?" Wilbur added, and Dream opened his mouth to answer, still shocked. "I-"
