A Big Mess

(The idea for this chapter belongs to NebulaQueen42)

-Narrator's POV, 3rd omniscient-

It was a normal day, and the Hermits were all off in their bases, maybe making plans for their mega-bases, or working in their mines. You might find a few in their shops, restocking the shulker boxes and chests, or making more ink for their newspapers. It was a clear, sunny afternoon, the perfect weather to work on a project, or bathe in the early summer heat. That, however, didn't last very long. We can only guess, but the answer that makes the most sense, is that the fates wanted some change.

A big blast shook the islands that the Hermits lived on, sending massive tremors throughout the land. "Is this an earthquake?" Was the question that most Hermits asked themselves, diving for cover. Some were lucky, while others... Not so much. The ground shook one last time, before coming to a halt. The Hermits waited with baited breath. Was it going to send more waves of the seismic activity? Apparently not.

"Jesus Holy Hermits, and the heavens above, what was that my dudes?" Ren sent through the small piece of technology called the Communicator. It was a black device that could be used to send messages to friends. There were older versions, called the Betacators, and the Alphacators, which didn't work quite like these ones did. See, Communicators were the newest version, with added perks. It worked long-range, had private messages, commands, and many other cool functions. Some Communicators had the commands turned off, for purposes such as playthrough.

Betacators and Alphacators, on the other hand, only had one function: short-range texts that were somewhat unreliable. Back to the topic at hand, though. "I think that was some sort of supernatural disaster?" Xisuma sent back questioningly. He was unsure what had just happened, but he wanted to investigate, as many of the other Hermits were already doing. "Guys, I found this weird looking portal-" Grian said, though his message sounded glitched. "You went through it, didn't you?" Mumbo asked. "Yep..."

"Hey, I just found one too- look at this, I'll send pictures- this vortex thing just sorta popped up, gonna investigate- does anyone else have a big, glowing, mist-filled square in their base- what the heck is that-" Many messages were jumbling together as more of the glowing portals appeared, sucking in the Hermits. "Woah, hey there Ren- wassup Iskall- Grian, how are you- Joe, that's my foot- TFC, look- Tango, watch out next time, lol- Doc, what's up bud- Bubbles, hi- Keralis, what's been happening, come update me-"

All of the Hermits tried speaking at once, not even bothering to look at their surroundings. "Hey- woah, guys look around you!" Mumbo said, brushing himself off. "Woah..." They all said in shock. They were in a building that looked like a mansion, with millions of rooms and a bright, white light shining all around. "Hey, MusicalRomantic, you're back!" A voice said, causing others to look up and stare at the Hermits gathered in their tight-knit group.

"Ooh, and look, there's LuckyXena, and LueyLuna23, and Cookieartistfox too!" Exclaimed another, running up to them. "Who are you?" Doc asked, crossing his arms. "What's up with you senpai, it's me, Crystalzye!" Doc shook his head. "I'm Docm77, I have no idea who this 'senpai' person is that you're looking for, but I'm not them." "We don't even know where we are, to be honest," Xisuma added, turning all of their attentions to him. "I'm Xisuma, and these are my friends, the Hermits,"

The people in there looked at them, before quickly rushing around, trying to shut all of the doors. "Let's show you guys around, then?" The first person to speak said. "I'm Sky S, by the way," She introduced herself. The Hermits nodded, introducing themselves as well. "So, these are the rooms you'll want to avoid," Sky pointed to many doors far down at the end the hallway. "This is where you'd want to go, if you want to keep your sanity," she pointed at a few doors down a short hallway labeled "platonic ships".

"Why would anyone want to make ships that loved each other?" Most of the boys thought, looking at the sign. "Moving on, we have the rooms that make you go insane if you're in there too long," she pointed at a section called "murder discussion". Sounds gruesome. "Here is who you'll want to avoid while you're here-" she gave a list of people, descriptions and all. "If you see a woman with gray hair, a yellowish bruise around one of their eyes and heterochromia, and who's name is Chi, tell them that Aaron Misuchi needs them for something, and that's about it, bye!" She finished, before disappearing off to some random hallway.

The Hermits talked amongst themselves. "What are we doing here?" They asked. "I don't know, but if we came out of that doorway over there, then that's probably how we get out," Xisuma inquired. "Let's go back through, then, what are we waiting for?" Mumbo asked, and some of the other Hermits nodded. "What about we check it out first, and meet back here in an hour?" Cleo asked, earning some nods from the other girls. "Fine, but only one hour," Xisuma agreed, and most of them wandered off to look at all the rooms.

The more daring ones went into the angst rooms, while some of the more lovey dovey ones went into the fluff rooms. The in-betweens just followed whatever sounded cool to them, leaving Xisuma, Doc, and TFC standing in the lobby. "Woah, look at this!" Grian said, walking in on a big room filled with multi-coloured lights. "Must be some sort of Rec room or something," Tango said, looking inside. "Oh, look in there Bubbles, there's a couple baking together!" Keralis said, dragging Bdubs over to look. "Cleo, come see this!" False said, dragging her zombie-like friend over to gander at some sort of lottery room.

Doc eventually got dragged down the hall by Mumbo, wanting to look at a room labeled "TRSNS". "Wonder what that stands for?" Doc asked, staring at the engraving on the door. "Dunno, but let's check it out!" Mumbo said, opening the door. What he saw made his face turn gaunt, and Doc looked just about ready to puke. They both raced back out of the room, down the hall, and to the lobby. "Never going to forget that, that's for sure..." Mumbo said sickly. "Wanna force Grian in there with Iskall?" Doc asked, and Mumbo nodded.

-1 hour later-

"I now want to cut my ears off," Joe said, walking into the lobby. "Yeah, let's just leave already..." Grian said, his normally devilish spirit diminished and decaying. He, Iskall, Mumbo, and Doc had all seen the TRSNS room long enough to want to die. They all walked through the door portal back to their dimension slowly, and the swirling mist went out, hopefully for good. "Alright, I'm off to go burn my eyes out, anybody want to join me?" Ren said, and many walked over as he went to go find a bucket of lava. "Let's never discuss that place ever again, agreed?" Xisuma asked. "Agreed." They all promised.

They didn't know much about the strange dimension, only that it wasn't a place they wanted to visit again. They all went back to their bases, none of them bothering to try and finish a project. They all just wanted to delete that world from their memories. Permanently. They all went to bed, and dreamed about the things they had seen. Most of them couldn't sleep, and those that could woke up way later the next day. Ren, Grian, Doc, Joe, Iskall, Mumbo, Keralis and Bdubs did not end up burning their eyes out, but they were tempted.
