Bdubs' Perspective-

"But...he loves me." Bdubs said quietly.

"If he loved you, why didn't he give you his life?" Grian asked, smirking.

"He lov- he cares!"

Bdubs huffed and ran off, trying to find Etho to prove that Etho did care and love him.

"Etho! Etho get over here!"

Bdubs climbed up into the woods.

"Etho-!"

Bdubs cut himself off as an arrow pierced through his heart.

He collapsed to the ground and his vision got blurry as he saw Etho turn around and glance at him over his shoulder.

Bdubs smile weakly.

"I love you." He whispered before dying.

Etho's Perspective-

I never forgave myself for what happened.

He was my partner, and I let him die.

I didn't protect him.

But this is what this game is.

A survival game.

When we were booted up into the next game, the next trial, things were different.

We now had a soulmate.

...I would be lying if I said that I didn't wish that Bdubs would be my soulmate.

"Hey Etho!"

Etho turned around and saw Bdubs and Impulse in a tight embrace.

Etho's eye twitched and he forced a smile.

"Hey guys! What- what are you two doing?"

"Well since Impulse is my soulmate, we're building a base together! We found each other almost immediately." Bdubs said.

"Yeah, it's like we were meant to be." Impulse said, smiling as he hugged Bdubs tighter.

Etho nodded.

"Hey, wanna come in? Chat?"

"I'm good, thanks. I gotta go find my soulmate."

"Oh...okay. Good luck." Bdubs said and Etho nodded, leaving.

He sighed as he peeked over his shoulder, his heart aching as he saw how happy Impulse and Bdubs were together.

This is just my life now. Away from him.

Etho looked up at the brisk air and he took a deep breath.

"Hey Etho!" Joel waved at Etho and fell off a little hill, taking damage.

Etho winced in pain as he felt the pain.

The two guys' eyes widened.

"Did- did you just take damage?" Joel asked.

Etho nodded.

Joel smiled.

"Yes! Finally! I've been searching forever."

Etho smiled grimly.

"You alright?" Joel asked.

"Yep!" Etho lied.

"Great! Let's go."

They started to walk off and Etho glanced over his shoulder at Bdubs.

"Guess this my life now, huh?" Etho whispered.

A little while later, Etho was riding his horse past Bdubs and Impulse's place.

They all saw each other and Impulse and Bdubs rode over to him on their horses.

"Hey Etho! How's it going with Joel?" Impulse asked.

"Uh- good, yeah he's nice."

"You know, he passed by here earlier." Bdubs said, "He said some stuff about you?"

"O-oh, yeah? Like what?"

"Well, we're not supposed to say, but since you and Joel are soulmates, it seems best." Impulse said in a low voice and he and Bdubs both nodded.

"He said that you were super annoying and that he didn't wanna be with you." Bdubs said.

"What? Oh Joel." Etho sighed.

"Yeah, maybe you should go chat to him about this." Impulse said and Etho nodded.

"Alright, let's go Bdubs." Impulse nodded back to their base.

"Wait, Bdubs can we chat?"

Impulse raised an eyebrow and Bdubs shrugged.

"Sure."

Impulse left and Etho looked at Bdubs.

"What you said about Joel isn't true, is it? What are you doing trying to spread gossip?"

"Whatttt? No, Joel said that." Bdubs lied and Etho rolled his eyes.

Bdubs sighed, "Alright, fine you're right."

"Come on, you never spread gossip!"

Bdubs shrugged.

"It's fun."

Etho sighed.

"Don't knock it till you try it."

"Just...what happened?"

"Well, Impulse actually cares about me and won't leave me once he's done using me." Bdubs snapped and Etho looked hurt.

"Is that really what you think what happened?"

"No...I know that's what happened."

Bdubs then turned and left.

Leaving Etho, and all his broken memories behind.
