The Unnecessary Disciple

I felt an uncomfortable overwhelming presence coming closer to earth every second. I got up from the bed, walking out onto the balcony and flying up as I felt the meteorite change its course to exactly where I was. I walked back inside and put on my suit as Genos walked up to me with a phone and a briefcase in the other hand.

"They're calling us?" I looked at Genos as he glared at me.

"What did you do?" Genos immediately asked as I sadly smiled at him.

"Changing the fate of this world." I took my hair out and grinned at him as he looked at me in confusion. We nodded and walked over to Saitama as he laid on the floor reading manga.

"Sensei... for some reason the Hero Association wants me and (Y/n)-sensei to come in. We will be back later."

"Okay. Maybe you guys are getting fired." Saitama laughed as I scoffed and walked out with Genos.

I stopped in the road, looking up at the pink star in the sky as I took a deep breath, looking back down at Genos and catching up to him.

We walked into City Z's Hero Association building to be greeted with silence. We slowly walked in before hearing an old man's voice from the left.

"Oh, you two must be Genos-kun and (L/n)-chan?" We looked over to see a white-haired man holding up his two fingers. "My name is Bang. Nice to meet you."

"Ah, Class S Rank 3 Silver Fang? It's an honor!" I bowed and pushed Genos down to bow too as the man laughed.

"The Association called us in." Genos pointed out.

"Everyone's at headquarters. This little branch office is empty now. Each of the Class S heroes got the call to come here... but we're the only ones who showed up." Bang explained.

"Why is that?" I asked.

"Too far away, or perhaps they're busy. Of course, some of the more cold-blooded ones simply don't bother. After all, we're called up only... when there's some impossible problem they want us to take care of. Today's no exception." Bang continued. "The threat level is Dragon, a worst-case scenario. Thirty-five minutes from now, a huge meteor will strike City Z. They are asking if nearby Class S heroes can do anything about it."

"A meteor?!" Genos yelled as I looked at him.

"Genos, calm down." I warned as he glared at me and sighed.

"Apparently, it suddenly changed paths. That means the end for us. The impact will wipe out City Z. I'm afraid there's nothing we can do this time. You guys too should think about evacuating with your loved ones." Genos gasped as I immediately texted Saitama.

"Do the citizens know?" I asked.

"I was told they would estimate the impact area... and issue evacuation orders 30 minutes before it hits." Bang notified as I heard the evacuation drill and smirked. "People are sure to panic."

"That's not enough time..." I estimated the time frame as they continued the conversation.

"And you, old fellow?" Genos asked.

"'Old fellow', is it? Call me Bang." He ordered as we watched him walk away.

"You are not evacuating?"

"My dojo has been in my family for generations. I can not abandon it." We left before he could finish his sentence.

Genos jumped from roof to roof as I flew next to him, staring straight at the meteor. I stopped a few meters away from him as he pressed a button on his briefcase. The case flew out in front of him and split into two parts, forming robot arms as they locked onto his body. He landed right next to me on the roof as the arms finally set in.

"Cool!" I squealed before stopping as a giant robot flew past us.

"Is that—?" Genos whispered as the robot flew around before landing next to us. "You are Bofoi, correct?"

"And you are the new people, Genos and (L/n). Come to stop the meteor?"

"Yes." Genos answered for both of us as I stared at the iron robot. "Bofoi, we need your help."

"Don't get your hopes up Genos, he's not here to help." I notified him before turning back to the robot. "Is that a Titanium prototype?"

"(L/n) catches on quick, learn from her." Bofoi told Genos before answering me. "Yes, I came here to field-test my new weapon. The meteor is a perfect target."

"A test?" Genos wondered as I smirked. "If that meteor hits, you too will die."

"Genos, Metal Knight isn't here, he wouldn't raise his life for something so trivial." I rolled my eyes before continuing. "It won't work, the meteor is too strong for your fireworks."

"She is right, what you are talking to right now is a remotely-controlled drone. Sorry to disappoint you, but my life's not at stake here. Also, I am not Bofoi, I am Metal Knight. Heroes call each other by their hero names, not real names. Everyone knows that." We looked up to see the meteor getting closer. "Look like it's time to end our little chat. How about we wager a bet (Y/n)? If this prototype works, I own you. If it doesn't, I owe you."

"(Y/n)-sensei wouldn't bet—"

"Deal." I cut Genos off and flew to the tallest building, sitting down as Genos followed me.

"What was that? What if he actually wins, then what?" Genos yelled as I glared at him.

"It won't trust me." I said confidently as Bofoi shot his missiles, causing a giant explosion.

"Amazing, such destructive power." Genos complimented as I smirked.

"Careful Genos, get ready." I stood up to see the meteor unaffected by the missiles. Genos started powering up and shaking as I put my hand on his shoulder. "Genos, stay calm."

"I see you've lost composure Genos." I looked behind us to see Bang. "You are far too young to be worried about failure. When your back's up against the wall, just muddle through. The outcome won't change, so that's what is best."

Genos looked deep in thought for a moment before ripping off his sweatshirt and opening his chest to show his core. He took a deep breath and moved the core to his arm as I kept glancing at my phone.

"(Y/n)-sensei, Bang, get down!" Genos yelled and shot a giant beam at the meteor, spewing fire everywhere in the sky. I looked at it in awe, but with a little concern for my son-I mean Genos.

"Genos, it's not working!" I yelled at him as we stared at the power.

"No. I think I see the meteor being pushed back." Bang reassured as we looked at him in shock.

"Really?" Genos asked hopefully.

"Oh, no. It was just my imagination." Bang quickly changed his answer as I sighed.

"You old fool!" Genos screamed before running out of power and kneeling down. "Nine more seconds. Get out of here, (Y/n)-sensei and Bang."

I felt the familiar presence coming up behind us as I kneeled in front of Genos and cupped his cheek. "Genos, you're not dying just yet, you're too young." I repowered his core and placed it back in his body as he stared at Saitama in shock behind him. "It's okay to lean on others for help, otherwise, what are family and friends for?"

I smiled at him and stood up, nodding at Saitama as he walked past us. "Old man, take care of Genos."

"Who--? Who are you?" Bang asked in shock as I smirked.

"I'm a hero." Saitama simply said and shot into the sky, blowing wind in our faces as we looked up to see him break through the rock in one punch, exploding the meteor into pieces.

"He shattered it!" Bang yelled as I floated up into the sky a little. "Unbelievable!"

I used my powers to create a giant shield over City Z, falling back onto the building and kneeling a little when the meteor shower hit harder than usual. Something didn't feel right, as I struggled to keep the shield up, I felt blood come out of my ears and mouth.

"(Y/n)-sensei!" I heard Genos yell as I felt a spark of pain shoot into my head, destroying the shield and pieces of City Z.

"...shit..." I whispered out before collapsing on the ground, seeing Genos hovering over me with Bang.

Saitama's POV

I landed on the ground, satisfied with my work until I looked around for the others. "Genos-kun? (Y/n)?"

"Sensei!" I turned around happy to hear Genos's voice before falling silent seeing him running up with the old man, carrying an unconscious (Y/n) in their hands. "She tried to protect the city, but it was too much for her!"

I cupped her soft cheek in my hand and gave her a long kiss on her (s/c) forehead, taking her off their hands. "Where's the nearest hospital?"

"Just a few meters away Sensei." Genos pointed out as I nodded to him and took off, with Genos and Bang following closely.

-3 days later-

"Although City Z was able to avoid total destruction, the city was still devastated with the effects of the meteor fragments visible everywhere." I read manga as Genos was watching TV about the destruction. (Y/n) was still unconscious in the hospital, so we left it in her hands and went back home.

"If only the Hero Association had called you to help instead of me, Sensei. If you had worked with (Y/n)-sensei and Metal Knight, the damage could have been minimized. If I wasn't so weak, (Y/n)-sensei wouldn't be in a coma right now..." Genos started blaming himself for everything as I looked up at him.

"But that Metal Knight guy wasn't interested in helping, right? And you're not weak, (Y/n) was up against a bigger meteor and meteor shower than before. So stop worrying about it." I sat up, turning to look at Genos sadly but hopeful. "I think we kept the damage to a minimum. After all, no one died."

I keep worrying about (Y/n) though. She's becoming a little too reckless and dependable. I... wonder if it's time to put the cape away and settle down. She's always been good with kids and has always wanted a family, so maybe it's time.

"By the way, do you think we moved up in ranking?" I asked Genos as he looked up at me.

"Yes, we did. I went to Class S Rank 18 to 16, (Y/n)-sensei went from Rank 17 to 15. Metal knight also moved up from Rank 7 to 6. Master, you shot up from Class C Rank 342 to 5." Genos announced.

"Number 5?" I stared at him in shock as he nodded. "From 342 to 5? What the hell? That's crazy!"

"Not at all. Your performance was worthy of Class A or even Class S. After all, it was threat level Dragon." Genos explained as I gave a small eh. "If there had been no damage, I am sure you would be at Class S Rank 5. Smashing the meteor alone was worthy of Class A. But I think the Hero Association assumed that Metal Knight, (Y/n)-sensei, and I played a big role."

(Y/n)'s POV

"What the hell?" I mumbled, squinting at the blinding white light coming from the sun bouncing off the walls. I sat up, remembering the meteor and looked out the window to see a terrible sight. City Z was destroyed with giant craters dancing all over the city.

Without thinking, I put my underwear back on underneath the gown, opening the window and flying out to find Saitama and Genos. After a few minutes of looking, I spotted a yellow suit wearing baldy surrounded by people chanting at him to give up being a hero. I landed on a building a few meters away from the stunt. I watched as one of them tried to rush him before getting blown away while the other's hands were getting crushed.

"I give up! I give up! You're crushing my hand!" The C-Class hero screamed as I held back my laughter.

"You're kidding, right?" Saitama whispered nervously.

"I give up for real! I'm sorry! I'm sorry for lying!" The hero screamed again with tears in his eyes.

"No, you weren't lying." I looked at the baldy in question before grinning as he yelled. "I'm the one who smashed the meteor! Anyone with a complaint, let's hear it. Speak up!"

"Because of you, my brand new car was--"

"You can shut up!" Saitama cut off the man by screaming. "Why would I give a crap about your problems? Tell it to the meteor, jackass!"

"He finally snapped." I mumbled to myself.

"Listen up! I don't do this hero thing for admiration! I do it because I want to! So if you wanna blame me, go ahead, you baldies!" Saitama yelled at the people as I giggled.

"You're the baldy..." Someone whispered.

"WHAT'D YOU SAY?!!" Saitama screamed at the top of his lungs as Genos walked over to him.

"Sensei." Genos got his attention as I was proud of my boys not taking complaints.

"Oh, it's you, Genos. Hang on, these guys--"

"Let's go home... Sensei." Genos pleaded as Saitama finally stopped. They finally walked away as I saw Genos turn back and stare at me in shock. I waved happily before staring and mouthing something to him before walking back to the hospital.

-a few hours later-

I walked out of the hospital and stretched, glad I finally got discharged. I felt something pelt me as I almost fell over from the impact.

"(Y/n)!" I looked up and smiled to see Saitama hugging me to death with Genos running up to us.

"Welcome home, (Y/n)-sensei." Genos greeted happily before frowning as I sadly smiled at him.

"It's good to be back." I mumbled.
