The Modern Anime Character

-the next day-

I was sitting down watching TV when Saitama woke up scaring me. "Don't come asking to play rock, scissors, paper... with a booger on your finger!"

"Well good morning..." I greeted and took a sip of tea still watching TV.

"A dream?" I nodded and turned up the volume to hear it while making some coffee for Saitama.

"The terrorist group responsible for the riots call themselves the Paradisers." As I finished the coffee, Saitama got up and went to the sink to brush his teeth. "They have destroyed a high-rise building in City F. The situation seems to be spiraling out of control. We just learned the identity of their leader. Hammerhead is a B-class criminal... who has been involved in several violent incidents in the past. He is a man of large stature, standing 2.15m tall and weighing 210kg. According to one report, he once fought 20 men in a street brawl... and sent them all to the hospital. The Paradisers sent the following message to this TV station. "We will continue to riot until food, clothing and shelter... are provided free of charge to those who do not work."... amongst other unintelligible demands."

"Sounds boring." Saitama muffled out as he finished brushing. "No need for me to get involved."

"But they kinda look like you..." I replied as I took another sip of tea. "You match the description of the group."

"Like Hammerhead, the group is made up of unemployed young men... with no motivation to work. Also, the group members all have shaven heads... making them quite intimidating. Those who encounter any shaven-headed men on the street... are advised to leave the area immediately." I slowly looked over at Saitama as he was sweating.

"What? But that's-- they stole my look!" I finished putting on my suit as Saitama was putting on his still looking at the TV. "I spend all this time trying to be a hero... but if they keep acting up, I'll be treated like a villain!" I blushed looking at Saitama's determined face. "I'm gonna smash them! (Y/n), let's go!" I flew out as he started running towards City F.

-timeskip-

"Ahh, it's a terrorist!" A man said as he looked at Saitama.

"No, I'm not!" I laughed slightly until I flew over to where the rock was hurled. A ninja and Hammerhead fighting? This will be interesting...

Hammerhead threw another rock at the ninja and he dodged quickly. He threw rock after rock until the ninja was trapped between them. I noticed he had a crazy smile on his face and he covered it up quickly before the hammerhead could see.

"You're just a little dog bought by Zeniru's money. You think someone like me, who fights for a noble cause-" Hammerhead started.

"Noble cause? If you call destroying a City a "noble cause"." Interrupting his speech, I noticed they didn't sense me the whole time I was watching them.

"Who are you? Are you another dog sent by him?" I scoffed at his question.

"As if I wanna be this thing." I saw the ninja's irk Mark appear when I pointed at him. "I wanna save the City, but that old man is always burning up father's money..." I smiled when the ninja got it.

"You're the past prime minister's daughter, (L/n) (Y/n)..." the ninja whispered.

"You got it! I've always wanted to know what bodyguard he bought to protect him from my big brother since you've already killed my father... Speed of sound Sonic, wasn't it?" My smiled widened when he realized he killed the prime minister. "You didn't know you killed him?"

"He never told me. How do you know my name?"

"I would worry about that poser in front of you before worrying about how I know you." I watched how their fight ended with Sonic throwing a knife at Hammerhead.

"It's over. Unfortunately, I couldn't go easy on them." I motioned for Hammerhead to follow me as he was still alive as Sonic looked away still talking to my Uncle.

"That was close. Good thing he hit my head." I laughed quietly.

"Sorry, but this is where we separate." I waved and flew away until he grabbed my leg and threw me down.

"We're not done here! If I can take you as hostage, maybe they will listen to my requests." I saw Saitama wandering the forests as he was throwing me down.

"SAITAMA!" I screamed his name and he turned our way as he was serious.

"Oh, there you are." He said as Hammerhead towered over him.

"What's your deal? You hear to sign up with the Paradisers?" Hammerhead spoke.

"No, no. I'm just a guy who's a hero for fun with my girlfriend. You're holding her right now." I paled as the Hammerhead snuck a glance at me before looking back at Saitama. "For personal reasons, I'm here to smash your heads in. So, where are your followers?"

"Dead." I coughed and cheekily smiled at Saitama.

"Then, die!" He punched Saitama, picking up dust everywhere. "I better get out of here, quick." I sighed motioning Hammerhead back to Saitama who's still in place.

"What a letdown. I was excited about these battle suits. But the design is lame... and all they do is give you superhuman strength." I laughed agreeing with everything until Hammerhead started to get serious, squeezing me in the process.

"You have no idea how hard it was to get hold of these things! How could you know their value?! I've been looking for someone to test the full power of this suit on!" I was slowly losing air, feeling faint.

"You're killing her!" I slowly looked over to Saitama and smiled, losing consciousness.

I woke up seeing the blue sky and fluffy clouds. "S-Saitama?" I whispered, sucking more air in.

"You're awake?" I wrapped my hands around his neck, hugging him and softly crying. "Hey, why are you crying?"

"Because I feel useless..." I cried harder, pulling myself more into him. "Tell me Saitama, why do you still keep me around?"

"Because you're my everything. I may not show it since I don't have emotions, but I would feel lost if I didn't have you by my side." I pulled away from him as he wiped my tears away with his thumb.

"R-Really?" I brightened up a little seeing him nod like a child. "I-I love you Saitama."

"I love you more (Y/n)." I enjoyed our moment until I realized that we need to find hammerhead.

"Hey, where's hammerhead?" I questioned hoping he didn't do what I think he did.

"I was going to kill him for hurting you, but then I saw myself in him, so I let him go." I quickly pecked Saitama on the lips and got up stretching.

"Let's go home then." Saitama helped me up and before we would walk away, I stood in place sensing someone.

"Where did hammerhead go?" We turned to see speed of sound sonic blowing in the wind like some type of anime. "There's no one left but you." I realized he was talking about Saitama since he looked like him.

"Hammerhead went that way, buck-naked." I facepalmed glad that I didn't wake up sooner. I saw Sonic's knife slowly as Saitama caught it. "What's this?" I grabbed the blade as Saitama saw it coming. "Hey, you got it wrong." Saitama said as he reached up and broke the blade into pieces.

"I got what wrong?" I watched Sonic with curiosity as he shielded his eyes.

"I'm not one of the Paradisers."

"You're lying." I sighed in annoyance as Saitama denied it.

"No, no, no. Don't be dumb. Look at me." I silently chuckled as Saitama's voice grew in anger.

"I don't need to. With that bald head, there's no denying it." I snorted a little at what Sonic said.

"No. Look, it's me. Me. The guy with his girlfriend who are heros for fun."

"Never heard of you, but you're Ms. (L/n)." I bowed respectfully as he recognized me.

"Oh, I see." I rubbed Saitama's back in circles to help.

"Either way, it doesn't matter." I got chills up my back when he put away his blade and smiled at us creepily. "You both read my attacks, twice. That's the real problem. Born in a ninja village... I've been perfecting my technique since childhood. Yet you saw right through them. This I cannot allow."

"(What's he talking about?)" Saitama whispered to me as I shrugged.

"My pride won't have it. I don't care who you are, I can't let you simply walk away." I watched as he appeared behind us facing away.

"Oh, come on. You just want to try out your moves on me. I can tell by that innocent smile of yours." I got the chills again as I saw Sonic's face.

"(Innocent? That's creepy...)" I whispered and before I knew it, I was high up in a tree watching Sonic jump around Saitama. "What the?- how did I get up here?"

"Can I go home?" Saitama asked as he kept up with Sonic's speed. I sat down carefully on the tree as Sonic tried kicking Saitama. Saitama dodged as he said, "Checkmate." And Sonic's crotch fell right into Saitama's fist.

I fell out of the tree laughing my ass off at the awkwardness. "Holy *deep breath* shit! Ahh my stomach hurts!"

"Sorry! That wasn't on purpose. I meant to stop before hitting you... but your momentum carried my fist into your..." I slowly crawled over to Saitama barely holding my laughter in.

"I've worked every job from assassin to bodyguard. No ninja is more deadly. I am Speed-o'-Sound Sonic! But I'm putting my work on hold. Now that I've found such a formidable opponent... I'm dedicating myself to training until we settle this." I laughed harder seeing Saitama's unsure face. "Let me know your name."

"It's Saitama."

"Saitama, next time we will meet, it'll be your demise!" I took deep breaths in unable to stop laughing at him shaking.

"Okay."

"I, Speed-o'-Sound Sonic, the ultimate ninja... will bring you down without fail!"

"Train hard." I crawled up to Saitama clutching my stomach.

"S-Saitama, I need you to carry me home. I don't think I can move from laughing that much." He picked me up carefully as I wiped the tears from my eyes.

Once we got home, Saitama called Genos as I sat down out of breath. "Speed-o'-Sound Sonic? Who is that? And who would possess such a redundant name?" Genos asked as I served Green tea.

"I don't know. He suddenly appeared, declared we were rivals, and took off." Saitama explained.

"If he is a nuisance, I will get rid of him."

"Well, you're hardly different. Actually, why are you here again? Go home. It's not like we're related." I listened to their feud on Saitama's bed while reading manga.

"Master, I must become stronger—"

"Shut up!" I jumped a little from Saitama's voice. "I am now aware of a serious problem and am reeling from shock. So I beg you, go home for today." I walked over to Saitama and hugged him feeling his body trembling.

"A serious problem? What could cause a problem for someone as great as you? Please, share with me."

"No one knows who I am." I facepalmed a little seeing Genos's shocked face. "It's been three years since we first became heroes. We've defeated many monsters and evil organizations during that time. I've never heard of any other heroes doing as much as us. Everyone in the world should know me by now. Isn't it weird that I don't have any fans or anything, but (Y/n) does? You know what he said to me today? 'Never heard of you, but you're Ms. (L/n)' to (Y/n). Plus everyone in town took me for a terrorist. They've all forgotten how I beat those monsters for them with (Y/n)." I sighed hearing the strain in Saitama's voice.

"Wait, Master and (Y/n)-sensei, are you both listed with the Hero Registry?"

"What's that?" I asked as Genos pulled up their homepage.

"'Take a test at any local branch of the Hero Association. If you score better than the cut-off, you'll be registered in the Hero Registry... and will be allowed to officially call yourself a hero. Once you are recognized by the association, you're deemed a pro... and will get paid from donations collected by the association. All heroes in the public eye are registered, professional heroes. You may be doing plenty of hero work, but self-proclaimed heroes... are really just weirdos—"

"Weirdos spouting nonsense viewed with suspicion." Genos finished for him as I flew back down onto the bed picking up where I left off in the book.

"I had no idea. Genos, (Y/n), are you registered?"

"No. I feel no need to." Genos replied.

"Nope, it feels pointless to." I answered to Saitama. I regretted my decision of telling him immediately as he brightened up.

"Let's register! Genos, register with me and I'll make you my disciple." I facepalmed as Saitama pulled the disciple card on Genos.

"Let's go." Genos agreed as I tried to escape. "(Y/n), you should register with us too."

"Yeah! Please?" I tried to ignore them but failed as they got down on their knees and bowed.

"Please, (Y/n)-sensei!" Genos said as I puffed out my cheeks in frustration.

"Fine! Let's go!" I put back the Manga and went out to get the registration papers.

-timeskip-

Saitama filled his paper out on the table as I did the same on the bed as we listened to the TV. "'Our guest today is Mr. Majimeda... an expert on the labor issues confronting young people today.' 'Thank you for having me. As we saw with the Paradiser incident recently... there's an increase in young people who lack all motivation to work.' 'Can you comment on this phenomenon?'"

"We're not so different, (Y/n)—" I listened in on the TV as Saitama talked.

"'In the case of the Paradisers... I think they've been influenced by irresponsible lyrics...'"

"—from those unemployed guys..." Saitama finished as I nodded.

"No we're not..." I replied.

"'In songs like "Don't Give Up on Your Dreams"... and "Make Your Dreams Come True."'" I stopped listening to the TV as I watched Saitama stretch and lean back onto my lap.

"Just one wrong step and I could've been one of them." Saitama thought as I listened in. I kissed his head softly and pulled back as he looked at me.

"But you're not one of them. You're a hero! And even if people think you're not, in my heart, you will always be my hero." I noticed the tiny smile forming on him as I rambled on. He silenced my rambling by kissing my lips making the blood rush to my cheeks. Once he pulled away, I was at a loss for words. "W-Why...?"

"Thanks for everything (Y/n). I don't think I could've gotten this far without you by my side." I felt my heart drop to my stomach as he smiled again.

"S-Stop it..." I couldn't help myself as I started shaking.

"Stop what?"

"S-Stop being so cute!" I muffled him with kisses as he picked me up.

"I should say that to you."

"Why?" He pointed at my chest as I realized the zipper for my onesie pulled down halfway to show a lot of cleavage. I felt my face heat up as I fell off of him and zipped it back up, hearing his laughter. "You snake! When did it come down?"

"I pulled it down when I fell in your lap." I gasped dramatically as I tackled him on the bed and turned off the lights.

"You're definitely a snake now." I puffed my cheeks.

"And you're my meal." I took a moment to process what he said but I was too late to retaliate as he kissed and licked my neck, making me moan softly. "I'll have you another time. Goodnight my soft roll."

"Goodnight my soft boiled egg."
