Sabo | mermaid
She felt the sun's rays penetrate her skin, warming it. In the depths of the sea it was difficult to feel the light so intensely. Her father didn't like her risking her life like this just to feel some new emotion, but she couldn't help disobeying him time and time again. Particularly since she had saved that young man from the violence of the waves some time before.
She remembered with extreme clarity the details of that face that had so impressed her.
Thinking back to their first meeting, she had to admit that the circumstances had been rather bizarre.
She was always on one of her forays to the surface enjoying the beauty of the sunlight when Sabo's ship had suddenly appeared, but the mermaid was too lost in the beauty of the air and had not realised the danger.
"A mermaid!" This voice had abruptly brought her back to the reality of the situation. For a brief moment she had watched the young man's face and was enchanted by his beauty.
"Sabo, where?" Another male voice resounded in the distance. (Y/n) then woke up from her daydream and hurriedly jumped into the water, all too aware of the risks of staying on the surface. It was well known that a fate of chains awaited those captured by humans.
And, however much that human might have awakened something in her, she could not fall victim to a stupid blunder.
Too bad that fate had something else in store for her.
A few hours later the sea had suddenly started to change.
She had repeatedly heard tales of the violent destructive force with which wind and water combined to create an inferno during storms.
She not only wanted to savour the warm rays of the sun, but also those sublime stormy moments.
And this seemed to be her chance.
She watched in fascination as the rumbling of the lightning bolts and their flashing illuminated the cloud-covered vault of heaven.
Danger and beauty combined in the equation of the sublime.
At that idyllic moment, the man who would soon become the personification of danger and beauty in her life appeared in her view.
The same boy she met in that fortuitous moment, violently pushed by the waves.
(Y/n) acted even before she could realise what she was doing.
But she knew that a human couldn't survived long in those circumstances.
She rushed towards him, trying to make sure he could breathe and get him away from that nasty storm.
In the calm of a quiet beach, waiting for the boy to wake up, the mermaid could lose herself in looking at his face, which seemed perfect to her. She gently stroked the scar that scarred his face, wondering in what difficult circumstance he had obtained it.
Unconsciously she began to sing a sweet melody.
She was so deep in thought that she didn't realise the boy was recovering in the meantime.
She froze as she felt a warm hand tighten around her wrist.
Sabo was still dazed, yet he recognised her state of agitation.
"Don't stop singing..." He whispered to her.
But (Y/n) simply tried to move away from him, she had definitely gone too far with that game.
She was going to end up hurting herself.
Sabo reached out once more, in an attempt to block her, and, finally, realized who he was dealing with.
"A mermaid!"
"Let me go!"
Sabo seethed. Did she really think he could be one of those fish man hunters? As much as it offended and saddened him, he couldn't help but think that the mermaid had all the justification in the world for being guarded.
"I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt you... What's your name?"
(Y/n) was still guarded, but she felt that she could trust that boy.
"(Y/n)..."
"(Y/n)..." Repeated Sabo hypnotizingly, finally realizing how beautiful that mermaid was. "I am Sabo. Thank you so much for saving me!" And he smiled sincerely at her.
(Y/n) replied with a faint smile.
She would have gladly stayed with the boy a little longer, but more human voices began to echo in the distance.
Sabo turned in the direction they were coming from to try and figure out what it was, but when he turned around, the beautiful mermaid was gone.
He stood up and walked over to the water to look for her, but there seemed to be no one in those crystal clear waters.
"(Y/n)..." He whispered.
He wished he knew more about her. Who she was. Where did she come from? Why had she saved him? Why had she run away?
But he knew perfectly well that fish men had more than one reason to be afraid of human beings.
Even if he wanted to, it would be difficult to track her down.
He sighed.
The only thing he could do was to see her face again and hear her melodious voice only in his memories.
He held out hope that he might meet her on one of his adventures in the sea.
