Chapter 2

"Rogers."
He turned around at the sound of her voice and was greeted by her usual smirk. He was a bit surprised to see her here but smiled at the sight of her. She sat down beside him and ordered herself a drink.
"Natasha." Steve said with a slight smile. "Pleasant evening, don't you think?" Natasha said as she put her purse on the bar table. Steve chuckled a bit and she gave him the same old smirk.
"There's nothing wrong with the word pleasant." Steve said, smiling at her.
"Oh, so you didn't get my note?" Natasha asked, putting on a surprised expression that didn't fool Steve. He just smiled and Natasha got her drink. "Long day?" He asked and she nodded. She took a sip of her drink and looked at him. "Seems to me yours was long too. Bad day Cap? It's not every day I find you in a bar in Brooklyn." She said, looking into his eyes. "Why are you here though? Are you following me Romanoff?" He asked with a smile that disappeared quickly as she hushed him.
"I'm working." She said with a deep tone to make him understand that she was undercover. "And then I happened to run in to you. It's funny how life works." She said as she took a sip of her drink. He watched her search the room from her seat.
"Need any help on that work part?" He asked and she shook her head. "Nah, but you could buy me another drink afterwards. Unless you're supposed to meet someone." She said and he shook his head with a small smile.
"I'm not on a date." He said and she raised one of her eyebrows.
"You could need one. I'll get you one, don't you worry." She said with half a smile.
"What? No, I'm fine." He said clearly but as he looked her way, she had walked halfway through the room to her mission. That mission being a middle aged man. She grabbed his shirt and whispered something in his ear. The man laughed and Steve furrowed her eyebrows, wondering what she could have told him that was so funny. The man smiled at Natasha before her eyes went up and down her body. He was surely attracted to her. Exactly like everyone else. Steve wasn't surprised, but he didn't enjoy the mans looks.

She whispered something in the mans ear again and touched his arm. The man put down his drink on the table and his hand went around Natasha's waist. She was wearing a black dress that ended a bit above her knees and high heels. It was hard to not find her attractive. Truthfully, Steve couldn't think of a moment he hadn't found her attractive. But as the mans hand traveled down her waist to her ass, Steve had a hard time keeping it together. He watched the scene intensely and couldn't understand how impolite the man was. Natasha kept flirting with him though and the man seemed more amused than ever. Steve was close to walk up to them but he knew he better stay away since it would jeopardise the mission. It didn't take long until Natasha grabbed the mans tie and dragged him with her out of the room. The man followed pleased with a smile up to his ears. Steve sighed and took a sip of his half empty bottle of beer.
Steve sat in the bar for another 40 minutes, waiting to see if Natasha would come back. As she didn't, he realised she maybe hadn't mean what she said about him buying her another drink. He knew that the mission wouldn't have taken that long. He payed for his drinks and grabbed his jacket and left. The streets of Brooklyn were empty and he didn't see any cabs, so he began walking. It was dark outside and all that lit up the streets were a few street lamps and the light from the houses. "I thought you were going to buy me another drink." Steve turned around, almost scared by the sudden voice. She noticed his scared expression and couldn't help but chuckle a bit.
"I didn't know you were still here." He said, still surprised. "My mission took longer than expected. That damn guy knew how to fight, believe it or not. Never trust first impressions." She said as she started walking along side with him. "I can buy you a drink now if you'd like?" Steve said with a small smile. She gave him a quick smile back. "I'd rather take a walk actually." She said. So they did. "Do you go to that bar often?" She asked him after a minute of silence. "Nah, mostly when I need to think." He said and she looked at him with a frown.
"Something special on your mind Cap?" She asked and he looked at her. Her big emerald eyes watched his for a few seconds and he was caught in her beauty for a while before he decided to shook his head. "No, the same old." He said and she nodded. "Yeah, the "old" is never fun." She said and he nodded in agreement. "Oh crap." Natasha suddenly said and Steve looked at her. "What is it?" "I was supposed to find you a date back there. I totally forgot about that." She said with a smirk and he breathed out heavily and smiled a bit.
"I told you, I don't need.." He began but she interrupted him.
"What's your type? Blonde? Brunette maybe? I can't let you sit in a bar alone." She said, putting her hands around his arm, squeezing it a bit as they walked. He looked down at her hands before he looked up at her.
"I wasn't alone." He said with a smile that he received back.
"Nobody special though?" She asked and he sighed heavily. "Believe it or not, it's kind of hard to find someone with shared life experience." He said and she looked at him seriously. "It's fine, just make something up." She said.
"What? Like you?" He asked and she nodded slightly. "The truth is a matter of circumstances. It's not all things to all people, all the time." She said. "And neither am I." He furrowed his eyebrows a bit as he looked at her. She still held her hand tightly around his arm. Almost hugging it. "It's a hard way to live." He said, watching her green eyes.
"It's a good way not to die though." She said, watching his blue.
