I opened my eyes as I felt a jolt of pain throughout my body. My eyes felt heavy. I felt a force on both my hands and legs. Everything seemed dark. I saw something bright to my left. It took me a while to adjust my eyes to focus on that illuminated area. I finally looked at the source of the light. It was just a dimly lit bulb.

I suddenly recalled how I ended up here. I was driving my car to my home after ending my duty at my office. Halfway through the ride, my car suddenly came to an abrupt stop. I tried turning the key to start but the efforts were futile. I frustratingly banged my hand on the steering wheel and exited my car. I looked around the area. This area had an eerie silence to it. No houses were around there and there seem to be no sign of life apart from the thick trees on each side of the road.

I tried fixing my car but nothing worked. After fifteen minutes of unsuccessful attempts, I saw a van coming towards me. I felt relieved to see someone else in that area. I gestured at the van to stop and thankfully it did. A bulky man was sitting at the driver seat. I told him that my car had broken down and asked if he could help me. Just then, the back door if the van slid open and a hand pulled me inside the van. It took me a moment to realise what just happened and then I started screaming. As I scream, someone stuffed a kerchief into my face. I started feeling dizzy and then everything was black.
And now, here I was in an almost dark room. It took me a while to realise that I was really kidnapped. I tried to scream but there was a piece of cloth tied around my mouth to keep me from making any noise. I looked around and I found that I was sitting in a very old bed corner of the bed with the help of a chain.
I tried to move but I couldn't. I felt strands of my hair on my face but couldn't move it away. I felt pain throughout my body and felt weak. I was freaking out badly and didn't know what to do.

|Manik's POV|

One month later:

It had been one month and there was still no news about Nandini. It was like she had disappeared into the thin air, promising never to return again. Her brother was found two weeks ago in his friend's house and he too didn't have any idea about the whereabouts of his sister. He's completely into depression now and his dumbness wasn't helping too.
In the past one month, I tried every possible way to find her. I sent people around the whole city to find her out but that effort too went in vain. All my nights were spent in thinking of the possibilities of where she was. She was all over my head and I hated that.

Next day, I decided to take an unprecedented step. I had a friend working in the police force. I decided to take his help. His name was Karan. I called him and asked him to come over to my office. He obliged and was in my cabin in half an hour. Apart from me and Karan, no one was present in my cabin. Karan visited my office almost every week but he hadn't met me for the past one month because of his work. He was the only person whom I could call a friend.
I explained to him about Nandini's disappearance. I also told him about every effort I made to find her and asked him if he could help me.

'Whoa bro! You used to hate her, right?

What happened now?'

He asked.

'That's none of your business. Just do as I say.' I said in anger.
'Okay.' He said. He was used to my bluntness and knew better not to say anything when I was pissed off.

Just then Inaya barged into my cabin. She had eavesdropped in our conversation.

'Baby, leave her. Why do you have to care about her so much? She's no one.' She said. I hated that she used to call me "baby" when she didn't have any work to do.

'Just shut up and leave!' I lashed out at her in anger.

'Manik, dude cool down. She's your girlfriend.' Karan said with a small laugh.

'No, she isn't. She is just a tool for me for my revenge against Nandini. If you think she is my girlfriend, then you are sadly mistaken. You know better that I don't have girlfriends.' I said to Karan. Inaya seemed shocked.
Karan was stunned and Inaya looked as if she was about to cry.

'What?'

She asked, her voice breaking.

'You heard it right. There's only one person I love in this world and she's also the person I hate the most. She's Nandini. Only I have the right to lay hands upon her and I can hurt her too. You mean nothing to me, Inaya.' I said and Inaya walked out in anger.

Karan looked at me with a confused expression.

'Can you find out Nandini?' I asked Karan.

'I'll try to track her number and find out her last location.'
'Okay. Do that quickly.' I said and gave him Nandini's number. He smiled at me and left.
I sighed, plopping down on my chair. I sat there for fifteen minutes before I got a call from an unknown number. I picked up the call.

'Hello?' I said into my phone.

'Mr.Manik Malhotra?'

came a deep and husky voice.

'Who's this?' I asked.

'Nandini is with me. If you want her, you gotta come here. I'll send you the location and if you inform anyone else about this, Nandini will be dead.' said the voice.

I felt that the voice was really familiar.

Wait...

No, shit! It was Gaurav.
