|Nandini's POV|

Manik was waiting for me to finish my work. I was working on the last client's details. It was 7:23 pm by the time I completed the given work.

'Sir, I completed it.' I said to Manik.

He looked up at me with a smirk.

'Now mail all those documents to [email protected].'

He ordered.

I obliged. In the next five minutes, I was over with my duty and stood up to leave.

'You have work tomorrow.' Manik said, to which I turned at him.

'What work, sir?'

I asked, dreading over what work could he possibly give me now.

'Tomorrow we have some new clients coming over. They wanted to see around this place and know more about our company. You have to do a presentation that should include all the information about this company and convince them to invest and sign a contract with us. I'm counting on you, Miss Murthy. Tomorrow, be ready with your presentation.

I don't want to lose this new client.'

Manik said firmly.

I couldn't believe what he just said. I was already exhausted with today's work and I had been assigned another task for tomorrow and I didn't have much time to prepare for it either.
Ughh... this man was getting on my nerves now.

'O...okay sir.' I said, stuttering and feeling nervous that there was no one around besides the two of us.

'Good. Now, you can leave.'

He said and I nodded.

I left the office building, thinking of my work for the next day. I went to the parking lot. Only my car was parked there. Maybe Manik had his own private area to park his car. I entered my car and drove off to my home.
Maybe my old job was better. Though it was humiliating, it wasn't stressful. Atleast I didn't have to face Manik's hatred and despise.

|Third person POV|

Manik smirked, thinking of the pressure he was giving to Nandini. She deserved it, according to him. He felt satisfied that his first act of revenge had been successful. More was to come on its way.
Inaya was continuously trying to text Manik. She was trying to initiate a conversation. Manik was ignoring her. For god's sake, he wasn't her boyfriend. She was just a toy for him and soon, he would get bored of her. But as for now, he just decided not to text her and ignore her.
Nandini, on the other hand was home and had her laptop opened in front of her and she was preparing for the presentation for the next day. She was sure that she would lose her sleep for that day. She just wanted not to freak out in front of the clients.

Next morning, Nandini went to the office, prepared for the presentation. She just had an hour of sleep and was feeling tired. As soon as she reached the office, Manik ordered her to be present at the conference room. She obliged.

In another fifteen minutes, the clients had reached the office and were sitting at the conference room, listening to Manik introduce himself. Then he asked Miss Murthy to give a presentation.

Nandini was nervous but she had to act confident. She couldn't afford to lose those clients. The company's reputation was at stake now.

She began by introducing herself and drifted off to explain about the company's history which she had researched on her laptop last night. She stuttered at a few places and embarrassed herself, but it was fine all over. The client appreciated her efforts but Manik wasn't pleased. He had expected that she would make a blunder of herself and he didn't like that she proved his expectations wrong. He just forced a tight smile at her.
He had to think of something else for her now. He wasn't going to let her loose anytime soon.

|Manik's POV|

I didn't expect Nandini to do the presentation smoothly. Though she stuttered at a few places, she did fine as a whole. We got the client but it wouldn't have affected my company even if we hadn't bagged them. My company was already very huge to care about small clients.

Three days later:

It had been three days since that presentation and Nandini hadn't showed up after that day. She was absent for three days and somewhere, I felt worried. She didn't even inform anyone if she was going to take a leave.

Did she leave the job?

That seemed probable. But she didn't even fill up a resignation letter.

I was pissed off by now. I wanted to see her. I knew I had feelings for her somewhere deep in the heart but at the same time, I hated her as hell. I hated her for betraying me and now, I hated her more for leaving without a notice.

I called Inaya into my cabin. She came.

'Take out Miss Murthy's number from the employees' record and call her. Ask her the reason for her leave.' I ordered. She hesitated at first, but then obliged. She nodded and left.
I was growing impatient each second. I sat on my chair, rubbing my temples, thinking of the probable reasons of her sudden disappearance.

Inaya knocked the door after a few minutes.

'Come in.' I ordered.

'Sir, I called Miss Murthy but her phone is switched off. I tried calling her several times but still it says the same.' Inaya reported.

'Okay.' I said, gesturing for her to leave.

I was feeling more tense now. Something wasn't right and I could feel that.

I decided to take another step forward now. I called in my top-level security team that worked below me. I asked them to assemble in my cabin and they did after five minutes.
There were five huge and bulky guys in that security team. I gave them the address to Nandini's house and asked them to look out for where she is.

'If she is not present in her home, then inquire the neighbours about it.' I said.
'Yes sir.' all of them said in unison and they left for their mission.

I didn't want to go to her home personally, not after the night I had been drunk and had gone to her house. It was still embarrassing for me.

After about half an hour, I got a call from one of the guys of the security team. I inhaled sharply before accepting the call.
'Sir, Miss Nandini is not at her home. We asked her neighbours but even they have no idea.

Also, her brother is also missing.' He said.

I slammed my phone on the table in frustration.

Something really weird was happening. It was something really bad.
