Chapter 3
Meanwhile in the forest somewhere near the castle and the cave
Addison's P.O.V.
I had left the cave this morning and I have been walking most of the day. The rogues seem to have returned to the castle and have stopped searching for me. I mean I think so.
My mate must not be that powerful because he is nt searching for me. Not to sound cocky, but for male wolves, a mate is more important so my mate would go crazy searching for me. I felt bad for leaving him. He might just be a little misguided and I could have helped if not for the mission. Blaze, my wolf, was ignoring me out of spite for leaving my mate.
What bothered me the most was the fact that my mission was to continue the Alpha line in case of an attack. That meant mating someone other than my mate because he was on the attacker's side. This adds the additional problem, it is already hard to get pregnant, but it is even harder to get pregnant with someone who is not your mate. This would cause problems to my mission which means it basically fails. Fuck! Well, I guess there is still the old legend with the first Alpha Queen.
I continued walking in human form until sunset. I stopped at a waterfall. There was a natural cave behind it. This was the path that mom, dad and I designed in case I had to run. The cave had some necessities in it and could protect me during the night. I tried to contact Blaze but I only got a whimper in answer.
I sighed, this could all wait for tomorrow.
*Next morning*
I woke up the next morning right after sunrise. I was well-rested and repacked my provisions before heading out. I couldn't stop at the pack right next to us because that is where the rogues would look for me first. I needed to make it to the Forest Growler pack. The current Alpha and Luna were my childhood friends. From there, I would leave the continent and make a plan to get back the throne. Easy peasy if nothing goes wrong.
I continued walking a couple more hours and everything was going well. Until I heard the howls. I shifted immediately into my white wolf and took off at full speed. I recognized the howls as the ones from the attack on the castle. There were rogues after me! Maybe my mate was powerful after all. Fuck!
I ran in one direction until I saw two humans. They must be nature enthusiasts to be out this deep in the forest. I switched directions to make sure they were not put in harm's way. There was a chance they were not humans, but I would not take the risk of putting a potentially innocent person's life in danger.
I ran some more, but the howls kept getting louder. I wasn't losing them, shit! I tried running even faster. But I ran into a dead end. Only I would have done that! Idiot, I'm an idiot. I tried running back the way I came, but the rogues blocked me. Fuck! The one who I assume was trhe leader of the group shifted.
He said, "I am Blake. I know you are Addison. Your family is worried about you. Don't you want to come back home?" How old did he think I was?! I am not stupid! It is obvious that this is a play to get me back easily into the hand of the rogues. When I didn't answer his little speech, Blake's eyes hardened.
He told me, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. We outnumber you. There is not way out."
It was then when the two humans that I had seen earlier cam walking into the clearing. I sniffed the air, never mind, those were werewolves. I think the rogues were shocked at the audacity of the duo. You usually never interfere in other wolves' business unless you have a death wish. They were all glaring at them, but it didn't faze them at all.
Instead the woman grinned and said, "Who ever said there was no way out?"
I hope their interference doesn't get them killed.
Isabella's P.O.V.
*Several hours earlier*
Carson and I made it to North America quickly and took a car in the direction my gut was telling me the person who sent the call was. I only got more and more worried because we were getting closer and closer to my, I mean, the castle. It wasn't mine anymore and hasn't been for ten thousand years. I was shaken from my thoughts by Carson.
He asked, "Are we going in the right direction?"
"Yeah, we will have to abandon the car soon though and go into the forest," I answered.
"Are we getting closer?" Carson asked again.
"Impatient are we?" I retorted.
"Maybe a little... But are we?"
"I think so, the feeling is getting stronger." With that, I turned back towards the window.
An hour later, I told Carson, "Get out of the car. We need to go on foot." He did as I asked and we went on our way. It was rather boring actually. There was just trees and trees and trees and water and...
Wait, that I is not what you usually see in the woods. I took off sprinting in the direction I saw the werewolves go off in, leaving Carson to follow. Suddenly, I heard howls too. The white werewolf must be being chased by someone, by the sound of those howls it was quite a big group too. I hated it when a big group of werewolves preyed on another weaker than themselves. It pissed me off.
I slowed down a little to let Carson catch up with me. He asked me through the mind-link, "Is your feeling bringing you this way?" To be honest, I had completely forgotten about the original reason for us being here when I saw another werewolf in danger. It was good luck that put my feeling in the same direction that we were going in.
I answered, "Yup."I started to run faster as the feeling intensifies. Maybe the werewolf being chased was the one who sent out the call. It would make sense. I stopped right outside of a clearing where the group of wolves had corned the white one. I listened in on their conversation:
The leader one said, "I am Blake. I know you are Addison. Your family is worried about you. Don't you want to come back home? . . . . . . . . . . . . . We can do this the easy way or the hard way. We outnumber you. There is not way out." I chose that moment for my dramatic entrance.
I waltzed into the clearing with Carson behind me and told them, "Who ever said there was no way out?" The rogues as I can now see glared at me with all their might, most likely expecting me to run away. Tough luck for them! I didn't back down when I had six of the most powerful Alphas staring me down and I wouldn't now. To be honest, in comparison, they looked like a bunch of mad puppies. It would be kind of cute if they were not threatening the girl who sounded the Call.
When it became clear that no one else was going to speak, I continued, "I don't think you should be picking on a werewolf for no reason."
The leader guy, Blake, seemed indignant and retorted, "I am here under the authority of the King."
I scoff, unimpressed, "Which King?" I has noticed that the girl had shifted back.
I was between her and the men, so they didn't see it either until she came up behind me and said, "The Rogue King."
I stare at her, "Who the fuck is the Rogue King?"
Her voice becomes hard and full of rage, "The idiot who stormed the royal castle and has my family!" That was enough to piss me off. These were my descendants, and they needed me. At her words, I faced the idiots. They might think that they outnumbered me, but when I was mad, nothing did. They were a tiny group compared to the amount I have killed.
I warned these rogues one last time, "Walk away and no harm will come to you!" They laughed at me. I mind-linked Carson, "Keep the girl away from the battle." I knew he would listen because he knows that twenty wolves could never hurt me.
I bent down and took two silver knives out of my boot. I threw the first one into a wolf's neck, making him chock on his own blood. The second I kept in my hand to slit the second and third wolves' throats with. I threw it at the fourth wolf who charged at me. I lunged at the fifth one, breaking his neck. I jumped out of the way when the sixth and seventh one went at me. Instead, they hit each other, landing killing blows. The eighth wolf charged me from behind where I threw him into the ninth one, putting them both out of the fight. I continued the battle killing easily. Soon enough, there was only the leader guy, Blake left standing. Even so, he was barely standing. I had gotten my knives back and cut him up. He was about to pass out from blood loss.
I wouldn't kill him. I will leave him with a message for his Rogue King that we can pass on if he survives. I stalked up to him and ordered, "If you survive, tell this to your precious Rogue King, no one messes with my family!" With that, I walked to Carson and the girl, Addison I think is what Blake called her.
Addison was staring at me wide eyes and asked, "Who are you?"
I smiled at her which was probably really creepy as I was covered in blood and answered, "I'm the first Alpha Queen, at your service."
