Sitting on the rock outcropping with her feet dangling over the edge, McKay kept her writing journal on her knee. She had become uninspired as of late and decided to go to the beach to see if that helped. Her eyes stared at the sun as it sunk lower in the ginger sky. Sunsets were always her favorite part of the day. She was just hoping that they would prove to be inspirational too.
Her eyes were torn down from the beautifully painted sky to the beach where the water was lapping at the shore. Standing near the shore was a man dressed in a black baggy sweatshirt and pants; a black bucket hat over his head. She watched as he stood with his back towards her and his face to the water; his arms out on either side of him as if he wanted to embrace the sunset. She couldn't help but to smile softly at that.
Getting down off her rock, she made her way down the outcropping to the beach where he was. Her footsteps sunk into the sand as she moved over to get closer to him. Just when she was within feet of him, he turned to look her way with the most radiant smile she'd ever seen on his face. It was a smile that put the sun to shame.
"Isn't it beautiful?"
She nodded her head as she tucked a flyaway strand of hair behind her ear, hugging her journal to her chest as she looked from the man to the sun that was slowly sinking lower.
"What's your name?" asked the man as McKay looked away from the sun to him.
"McKay Cook," she said with a small smile; a blush decorating her cheeks. "And yours?"
"Jeon Jungkook," he said as he held a hand out her way. "It's nice to meet you, McKay."
Even though McKay didn't find inspiration that day on the beach, what she did find was something even more precious.
