"So what are you going to wear?" Pansy wiggled her eyebrows, walking Y/N to the entrance of the hospital.

"I don't even know where we're going Pansy, I might wear something casual," she replied, watching as Pansy pulled out a cigarette, lighting the end with her wand.

Pansy took an inhale, "no, you have to wear something more...exciting," she exhaled, the end of the cigarette now covered in her crimson lipstick.

"A dress?" She suggested. Draco hadn't told her where they were going, just that he would pick her up from her house around 8 pm. She had under two hours to make herself look presentable.

"Yes, but keep it classy, we don't what him thinking you're easy, even if you did put out the first time you met him," Pansy laughed, blowing the thick, grey smoke into the air.

"Fuck off, that was a one-time thing," she blushed heavily, she didn't regret that night. Draco made her feel things she had never felt before, yes, it was uncharacteristic for her, but it felt right.

"And Saturday? Is that included too?" Pansy pressed her lips together, holding in a laugh.

"He's...what's the word-"

"Dangerous? Convincing? Persuasive? Charming," Pansy interrupted, grinning at Y/N.

"Yes, all of the above," she laughed, she'd never met anyone as desirable. He was perfect, sometimes she'd have to blink twice to make sure he was real. She never understood why he didn't have a girlfriend or wife.

With his looks and charm, it confused her on why he remained single after school. He was the ideal man for any woman, yet, his interest was only in her. For two years he had been watching her, waiting to make his move on her.

She couldn't help but wonder what was so special about her that had Draco Malfoy so infatuated. Y/N looked at herself as an ordinary person, she wasn't rich, didn't have a high social status. So she found it hard to believe that he was so heavily interested in her.

"Last night, I was thinking about the Greengrass sisters," Y/N spoke, removing her thoughts about Draco. She couldn't keep allowing herself to daydream about a guy she didn't know very well.

It wasn't good for her, she was becoming distracted too often.

Pansy hummed, "what about them?"

"You know Daphne, the older one," she asked, waiting for Pansy's response. But she had a weird look on her face, almost like she was worried about what Y/N was about to ask.

Pansy nodded, "what about her?" She said slowly, inhaling another pull of her cigarette.

"It's weird, I didn't remember her at first, but when I thought about it, I realised I do remember her,"

"Yeah' go on," Pansy dragged her words, motioning her arm for Y/N to continue.

"She didn't like me, I'm sure she didn't. I remember her always giving me filthy looks, but I don't know why. So now I'm confused at why she made conversation with me the other night," Y/N said, chewing the inside of her mouth.

"Hmm, weird, don't think too much about it," Pansy responded, throwing her cigarette onto the floor and putting it out with the sole of her shoe.

"I know, maybe people can change."

"Maybe, anyway— don't you need to be getting ready?"

She glanced at her watch, she had wasted time speaking with Pansy about something that could've waited until later this evening. She cursed to herself silently.

"Fuck, I'll call you later Pansy," she embraced Pansy and hurried down the street. Barging past pedestrians on the way, she didn't want to be late for Draco or keep him waiting.

Walking would take too long, so she had no choice but to apparate. She hated the feeling, each time it made her feel nauseous, the sensation had her body drained. Thankfully it only lasted for a few minutes, but those minutes made her regret it every time.

'Keep it classy' Pansy said, Y/N could do that. She could do classy, but her wardrobe needed a serious upgrade. She'd go clothes shopping soon as she hadn't prepared herself to go on any dates.

So, her wardrobe was boring, plain T-shirt's, jumpers and jeans. She threw out nearly every item of clothing onto her bed.

Then, she spotted a white dress, she hated wearing white, it always ended up becoming dirty.

She groaned underneath her breath, pulling the white dress off the hanger. This would have to do, now she definitely had to go shopping, after this.

Y/N was determined to use this date to get to know Draco better, she wanted to know more about what he had been doing for the past two years, and the interest he had in her.

Because to her, something didn't add up, and she needed to find out.

After a hot shower, she checked the time. Did she really just spend an hour washing her body and hair? Draco would be here any time soon, and she was hoping there would be a chance he would arrive late.

Fuck, fuck, fuck.

She sprinted into her room, quickly applying her body lotion and slipping on her underwear. The dress she had chosen required a strapless bra, and she hadn't thought to grab it until now.

There was no time to put on makeup, only a quick coat of mascara and lipgloss would have to do for tonight.

She hated herself at this moment, she was never late, her time keeping skills had always been something she was proud of, but not today.

Y/N had no choice but to throw her hair into a bun, at least she could make it neat with an excessive amount of hairspray.

Her evening just became worse when the doorbell rang, instead of him being late, he was early. Ten minutes early, she hadn't even had time to pull her dress up.

"I— I'm coming, let yourself in Draco," she shouted through the walls. She hoped Draco would hear her because he couldn't see her like this.

She quickly fanned her face to prevent herself from overheating. This was embarrassing, she didn't know why she was so nervous, but she found herself wanting to impress him, even though she barely knew him.

Her door unlocked, footsteps were heard in the living room. He had heard her, and now he was in her apartment, probably looking at the books scattered around the living area and the coffee cups on the side.

"Everything alright," she heard him through her door, his voice deep and calming, which only made her cheeks heat up further.

"Yes, I'm— fuck," she couldn't get her zipper up. Her arms wear tangled behind her trying to pull the metal but it wouldn't budge.

"Y/N?" She could hear the concern in his voice, his footsteps were louder, he was coming towards her bedroom and it was still a mess.

"Yes, yes, just give me a moment," she rushed, tightening her grip on the zipper and trying to force it to move. Yet, there was no movement, her arms became weak from being strained behind her back.

She faced the mirror in the corner of her room and turned around, trying hard to see what the zipper had caught on to. But it was dainty and white like her dress, she couldn't see in the dim lights.

"Can I come in?" He was right outside the door now, her breath had hitched in her throat from his sudden words.

She knew she needed his help otherwise she had to settle on another outfit, and her other options weren't up to scratch. So she let him in, giving him the okay to enter her room.

He pushed the door open, Y/N watched him through the mirror. His tall frame nearly covering the doorway. He held a bouquet of lilies in his hand, her favourite— interesting.

Draco was dressed in a black fitted suit, he wore a white shirt that was near enough the same colour as his skin. He left the first two buttons of his shirt open, God, he was so beautiful.

"Y/N," he breathed, it was weird when he greeted her, he'd always say her name as if it was his first time seeing her all over again. She didn't complain as she liked it, it showed that he was interested in her still.

"Hi, can you— umm, help me?" She asked, dropping her hands to her sides and gesturing where she needed help.

He cleared his throat, setting the flowers onto her drawers and strolling over to her. His cologne filled her nostrils, it was sharp and made her mouth water.

"You look...ravishing darling," he mumbled behind her, she felt his fingers trail down her spine. The touch making goosebumps form onto her skin.

He took his time, touching her naked skin softly. His breathing could be heard, it almost matched hers, heavy and slow.

"Thank you," she replied, watching him through the mirror.

His fingers found the zipper, he pulled it up with ease, which made her previous struggles seem pathetic. She let out a breathy laugh, but it was cut off abruptly when his hand held onto the nape of her neck.

He spun her around, tilting her head so she looked up at him. He was taller than her by a lot, even when she wore heels, there was still a large height difference between them.

"Next time, make sure you're ready, otherwise I won't be able to stop myself from doing what I want to you," he breathed against her lips, the mint mixing deliciously with his own scent.

She nodded, glancing at his lips and then back onto his eyes, she couldn't help herself. He was dangerous just as Pansy had pointed out earlier.

She kissed him first, she knew she shouldn't have, but she did anyway. The kiss was soft and slow, they kissed like they were a couple, it wasn't desperate and full of want. It was the opposite as if they had been together a long time and they missed each other after a long day at work.

Draco slipped his tongue into her mouth, humming straight away. He could probably taste the cherry sweet she had earlier, or maybe the strawberry-scented lipgloss she had applied before he arrived.

Either way, he seemed to enjoy it, because he continued to deepen the kiss, holding onto her neck tighter. He swirled his tongue around hers, it's as if they both couldn't get enough, they matched each others desire for the other.

Perhaps that's why she had these feelings towards him, but she couldn't tell him. It was too early on and she didn't want to end up disappointed.

Draco was the one to pull away, his lips swollen and reddened from the kiss. She knew hers looked the same. Her finger darted out, wiping the remnants of her lipgloss from underneath his bottom lip.

"We need to leave— this wasn't a part of the plan," his voice was strained, he let go of her neck and stepped away, shaking his head as he walked out of her bedroom.

Her heart sank, did she do something wrong? Now she felt bad, his eyes were full of pain, but she didn't know what she did. She internally cursed herself for kissing him. Now she felt like an idiot for doing that, maybe he didn't want this, maybe he just wanted to be friends.

She took a deep breath, picking her clutch up from the side and walking out of her room. Draco leaned against the wall beside the front door. His head was tilted down, but once he heard the sound of her heels he lifted his head.

"I'm ready," she smiled weakly, Draco only responded with a nod and opened her front door.

He let her walk out first, placing his hand on the small of her back and guiding her out of the apartment. She couldn't help but feel disheartened, didn't he want to kiss her?

"Draco...did I do something wrong?" She asked as he walked beside her. His hand still rested on her lower back.

"What?" Draco stopped walking, now standing in front of her and frowning, "what do you mean?"

She sighed, obviously he didn't see what she saw. So she would drop it, they weren't together and he owed her no explanations for his actions.

"Never mind, it's fine," she smiled.

"No, tell me, what's wrong?"

"I'm just being silly, don't worry Draco— aren't we going to miss our reservation? If we have one?" She tried changing the topic but Draco still stood in front of her.

"Tell me— or we're not going anywhere."

She huffed, "fine, you just seemed disappointed after we— kissed."

Draco dropped his head, he sighed and nodded. She felt her heart drop again, he just confirmed what she was feeling.

This sucked, really, really sucked.

"It's not you, believe me, I— my mind isn't clear when I'm around you," he paused and took another breath, "I find myself losing my self-control when I'm near you, and I don't want you to think I'm using you— because that's far from the truth."

Oh? Unknowingly, Draco had just made her want him more. She felt the same way. She let out a sigh of relief hearing his words. No one had ever acted this way towards her, and her heart was filled with warmth.

She suddenly cupped his cheeks and pulled him into a brief kiss. His eyes widened at her gesture, he appeared to be shocked and surprised at the same time.

"I don't care, Draco," she whispered.

She could see his jaw clenching, he gulped and then nodded, "I lo- like the dress you're wearing."

"Thank you— now let's go to this restaurant, I'm starving," she laughed, wrapping her arm around his waist.

"Anything you want," he replied, walking them down the warm London streets.

The restaurant was grand, decorated like the interior of the Palace of Versailles. It was beautiful, expensive, but she didn't expect anything less from Draco.

"Reservation?"

"Malfoy," Draco responded, holding onto her waist tightly. His stance showed that he was important, although they didn't know him in the muggle world. You could tell he was powerful by his presence alone.

"Follow me, sir," the waiter replied, guiding them through the tables.

Draco pulled out her chair, waiting for her to take a seat before sliding her back in. She thanked him and watched as he walked around the square table and sat in front of her.

"White is really your colour," he began, drumming his ring decorated fingers along the white table cloth.

"Really? I never usually wear white, tends to get dirty quickly," she frowned, looking down at the dress. There still wasn't a speck of dirt on it, but the night had only just begun.

"Hmm, dirty you say," his lips curved into a smirk, as he continued to make noises with his fingertips

The waiter poured champagne into their glasses, Draco shooed him away when he noticed the waiter's eyes focused on Y/N.

"Mhm."

"Better to take it off, before it gets messy then, don't you think?"

"I said no funny business Draco," she laughed, picking up the champagne flute and taking a sip of the expensive liquid.

"I'm just looking out for you, and your dress," Draco shrugged, mimicking her actions. He licked his lips after gulping the drink. She couldn't help but follow where his tongue went.

"If you say so," she picked up the menu and scanned the items. But she was also looking for the prices too, she had planned on going halves with Draco, but none of the items had prices next to them.

"See anything you like?" Draco asked, picking up his champagne again.

"The steak sounds nice, is there anything you fancy?" She raised her eyes, not moving her head.

Draco hummed, looking at her intensely, "yes."

She cleared her throat, shifting her body underneath his heavy gaze, "right— shall we order then?"

"Mhm," Draco responded, wiping the corner of his mouth.

Their meals were ordered, which left them with a window of time to talk without any disturbances.

There was one important thing that she wanted to ask, why he had waited two years for her. The Draco she knew in school was bold, confident and didn't shy away from most situations, but this Draco in front of her was different.

"What are you thinking about?" Draco suddenly asked, his voice distracting her from her thoughts.

This was the thing about him that she had noticed, he knew more about her than he let on. How did he know that she was deep in her thoughts?

To her, she was just silently playing with the table cloth, but in his eyes, she was stuck in a train of thoughts. Anyone else would've assumed she was bored, but not him, so what was she missing?

She lifted her head, her eyebrows creasing slightly, "why?"

Draco shifted in his seat, his gaze flicked to the cutlery on the table and then back to her, "why what?"

"Why wait two years? I know I asked you before, but your perseverance baffles me, we barely spoke in school but now you wait two years to approach me— why?" Her words were rushed, she wanted to get everything out before he could interrupt her, or distract her again.

"I told you before— there's no catch," he shrugged, picking up his champagne and swallowing the rest of the drink entirely.

"Two years is a long time Draco," she trailed, tapping her nails on the table.

Draco sighed, "if I first approached you straight after the war, would you have given me a chance, after everything?"

"What do you mean? I don't remember much during that time, it's all...blurry."

Draco nodded, "don't think too deep about it Y/N please."

That was unexpected, she could see a shimmer of hurt in his eyes, a light crack when he said the last word of his sentence. She wasn't dumb, there were ulterior motives and she would find them out.

But for now, she'd just enjoy her date.

Draco was hiding something, and if he wouldn't tell her straight up, then she would have to personally dig for answers herself. He was a mystery, no one waits two years for a random person, especially not Draco Malfoy.

She thought of it as a puzzle, there were missing pieces and she would need to put them back together again, it may take a while, but luckily, completing puzzles was Y/N's speciality.

And that, she wouldn't expect Draco to know.
