Two weeks before

"You're going on lunch Y/N?" Her coworker asked, watching as she made her way down the busy halls. It had been a long morning so far, but she was grateful that it was Friday, and Friday meant one thing— getting drunk.

She hummed, holding an Apple and a bottle of water in her hands, "I'll be an hour," she smiled, walking over to an empty seat in the staff room.

She reached for her phone, which she had just gotten used to, her friend suggested she have one, as she was now living in the muggle world. Why not have muggle devices, however Y/N still opted for writing letters.

What was the point of having a telephone, if she had five phone numbers in it. She sighed placing the phone back into her bag, she took a bite from her green apple, the mix of sweetness and sourness satisfying her tastebuds.

"Well, well, well— what do we have here Y/N?" A voice came from beside her, she rolled her eyes and continued eating the apple.

"Pansy— piss off," Y/N spat, not giving her friend another look.

Pansy jumped over the couch, slumping next to Y/N, "I'm surprised you're not eating more," Pansy noted, the single piece of fruit appeared to be the only thing her friend would be consuming today.

"I assumed you would be eating a lot— considering today is Friday— and for some weird reason, you enjoy getting plastered by yourself," Pansy laughed.

Y/N cut her eye at Pansy, "why are you so nosy Pansy, what makes you think I won't eat when I get home," she muttered.

"You're right— anyway, I came to ask if I could join you tonight— Theodore is away, and I'd like to enjoy the company of my friend," Pansy wiggled her eyebrows, the engagement ring catching Y/N's eye briefly.

"Please, come on— it'll be fun," Pansy continued, she played with Y/N's hair, twirling it around her index finger.

"Fine," Y/N mumbled, taking the last bite of her apple, "but no funny business,"

"What does that mean," Pansy fake pouted, however there was a wicked look in her eyes, Y/N expected nothing less from the mischievous former Slytherin.

"You know what I mean Pansy," Y/N rolled her eyes, pulling out her wand. She levitated the Apple core towards the bin, and discarded it.

"Shut up you bore! I'll come straight to your house after our shift is over," Pansy stood up, dusting herself off.

"Catch you later, hot stuff," Pansy winked, walking off towards the corridors.

Y/N was glad that she had Pansy, she was one of the few people she still kept in touch with after she had left Hogwarts. Then again, she didn't have much choice, considering that they worked together.

The day dragged on, it was never ending for Y/N. Numerous casualties, some not as gory as the others, but nether the less she still found herself on her feet, running around, healing patients.

Her shift had ended, she sighed in relief, knowing a few strong drinks would make the headache she was currently enduring subside. Although she knew she would wake up with a more painful one.

She walked towards the hospital entrance, assuming she had to wait for Pansy— but she already found her outside. Taking a deep inhale of her cigarette, then letting it out slowly.

Y/N never understood why Pansy smoked, Pansy knew full well the damages they caused, internally and externally. But Pansy's excuse was that it helped her relax.

"Pansy," Y/N spoke, grabbing the attention from her friend.

"Ready?" Pansy asked, she took a final pull of her cigarette and threw it on the ground. She stubbed it out with her shoe and smiled at Y/N.

"You know, those things make you age rapidly— I mean, skin wrinkles and everything," Y/N commented.

"Thank God I'm a witch right?" Pansy laughed, "nothing that a few spells can't fix," she smirked, linking her arm with Y/N's.

Y/N didn't live far from the hospital, only a fifteen minute walk. Which was ideal for her, she disliked apparition, and she preferred to exercise.

Pansy discussed her wedding plans with Theo, they'd been dating since sixth year. Although they argued and there were some infidelities on both sides, they remained strong, even after the war.

Some said that it was the loss of lives, the terror that the war bought, that made them stronger. Y/N was envious, but not towards her friend. She wanted what they had, but that would never happen, she didn't have time for a relationship.

"What are you going to wear tonight Y/N?" Pansy said, waiting for Y/N to open her front door.

"Maybe jeans, a nice top?" Y/N responded, that's what she usually wore when she had her weekly visit at her local bar.

Pansy shook her head, "you got any dresses?"

"A few, what are you up to Pansy?" Y/N frowned, setting her keys onto the table and walking towards her room.

"I think— you should let loose, you work so hard, you should get dolled up, make yourself feel good again," Pansy said.

The truth was, since working and leaving Hogwarts, Y/N never had enough time for herself. She'd wear make up, and wear what she considered, cute, outfits when she went to dinner with friends.

But she hadn't worn a dress for a while, simply because she didn't have a need to wear one. She had self confidence, after a few drinks.

"You're right, perhaps I'll meet someo-"

"No! I— I mean, this is a girls night, you can't— bring a man into girls night," Pansy sent her a nervous smile.

Y/N frowned at Pansy's sudden outburst, "true," she replied slowly.

Y/N rummaged through her wardrobe, trying to look for any dress that wouldn't make her overdressed but also didn't make her look underdressed.

"Black?"

"No— that's my colour," Pansy smiled, snatching the dress from Y/N's hands.

"Alright— what about— red?" Y/N pulled out a mid thigh red dress, however it was more of a going on a date type of dress, rather than to a bar.

"How about the forest green one?" Pansy suggested.

"Green? I barely wear green— I don't really-"

"Wear it! It will look nice, I promise," Pansy smirked, she walked over towards Y/N's wardrobe and pulled out the dress.

"Are you sure?" Y/N questioned uneasy, she held the dress up to her body and looked in the mirror. She couldn't remember when she had purchased this dress, maybe in Hogwarts, maybe it was given by a friend.

"Positive," Pansy smiled.

The pair got ready, Pansy blabbed on about how the green colour suits Y/N skin complexion and how it hugged her curves tightly. Y/N came to the conclusion that Pansy obviously liked the colour green.

Y/N had finished her makeup, nervousness creeping through her body. She went to show Pansy, but her friend appeared to be too distracted by her phone. She texted away to someone, maybe her and Theo were arguing Y/N thought.

She cleared her throat, "well?" Y/N asked, twirling around.

Pansy's eyes widened, "he's going to— I mean I love it— sorry, I was, texting Theo,"

Y/N ignored the first comment, assuming she had mixed up her wording due to texting her fiancé.

"Everything okay?" Y/N questioned, running her hands through her hair, ensuring nothing was out of place.

"Uh— yes, he's just being annoying— as always," Pansy stood up off the bed, grabbing Y/N's hand and pulling her out of her room.

Y/N made sure she had everything in her clutch bag before leaving her apartment. The two left, walking down the busy high street, the sounds of cars honking, chattering from outside other pubs and restaurants filled their ears.

Pansy walked into the bar first, taking a seat on a spare table. Y/N joined her, and watched as Pansy scanned the room, she let out a sigh and then faced Y/N.

"Are you waiting for someone?" Y/N frowned.

"No— no, this place is just busy and I don't like sitting in the front— I prefer being in the back," Pansy smiled. She called over the waitress, asking for two shots of tequila each and one martini each.

"Tequila?" Y/N frowned, almost gagging at the thought of having to drink the drink.

"I love muggles choice in drinks," Pansy smiled, she pulled out her lipstick and painted the dark red shade over her lips. She wiped the corners of her mouth to remove any excess.

Pansy frowned, as she eyed the waitress that was approaching their table with a single shot of brown liquid.

"Hey! We didn't order that," Pansy spat.

"Don't worry Pansy, someone always sends me a single shot of fire whiskey," Y/N almost blushed as she reassured her friend.

"Wait, what— oh," Pansy had a light smirk across her mouth.

"Bottoms up," she added, waiting for Y/N to down the drink.

Y/N braced herself before downing contents of the glass, she let out a gagging noise after doing so. Feeling the heat rush down her throat and ending up heating her entire chest.

"Do you know who sent you that?" Pansy frowned, her eyes wandered again, before looking back towards Y/N.

"No idea, but I hope it's not a creep who used to attend Hogwarts," Y/N laughed.

"I doubt he's creepy," Pansy laughed, the waitress returned with their drinks. Pansy thanked the young woman and began to sip on her martini.

"What makes you say that?" Y/N asked, biting her olive and drinking the gin.

"Say what?" Pansy replied, picking up her tequila shot and gesturing for Y/N to do the same.

They both downed the shot quickly, Pansy smiling after and Y/N letting out another gagging noise.

"Say that he's not creepy," Y/N answered, wiping the fallen liquid off the side of her mouth. She dipped her finger into her mouth, not letting on drop of alcohol go to waste.

"Come on— you're hot, whoever the person is, is obviously from Hogwarts— they must know you— must know that you used to heavily drink fire whiskey," Pansy burst out laughing.

Y/N rolled her eyes, "still— they could be a creep,"

She drank the rest of her martini and waited for Pansy to finish hers. Pansy appeared distracted, by the muggle phone again, she received text after text and then looked back towards the door.

She let out a groan, "can we go some place else," Pansy asked, throwing her phone onto the table.

"Theo?" Y/N gave her a weak smile.

"Yes," Pansy replied, she gulped down both drinks and stood up.

"Where are we going," Y/N questioned, shrugging on her jacket, "there's a club down the street— it plays great music, it's more of our scene," Pansy winked, the heels of her shoes clinking against the floor below.

Y/N couldn't protest, the alcohol already in her system, if Pansy had suggested this earlier, she would've talked her way out of it.

But she was no longer sober and the buzz, that excited her from the alcohol, made her want to go to this club.

After showing their ID's they walked into the dim lit club. Music pounded in Y/N's ears, she felt goosebumps rise on her skin. She wanted to take off her jacket and head to the dance floor immediately.

"This place is nice— how did you find it," Y/N half yelled over the loud music.

"Theo and his friends go here, they showed me a few weeks ago," Pansy responded, she pulled Y/N towards the bar, both of them leaning against the sticky surface.

"Six shots of tequila please," Pansy shouted to the barman.

"Six!" Y/N yelled, her stomach clenched at the thought of having three tequila shots— and Pansy would make her take one after the other.

"Don't be a pussy," Pansy smirked, handing the barman enough muggle money to cover the drinks.

That made Y/N determined, determined to out drink Pansy and determined to have fun.

The shots were all lined up in front of them, "ready," Pansy asked, her fingertips already holding around the plastic shot glass.

Y/N nodded, one by one, each shot was finished, leaving the empty glasses on the side. Y/N let out a deep breath, feeling the need to dance. She had too much energy and if she didn't use it now, then she would crash and fall asleep.

"Let's dance Pansy," Y/N shouted, she didn't give her a time to answer before dragging her towards the dance floor.

The both danced together, allowing the vibrations of the music run through their bodies. Y/N felt on fire, she felt invincible, she realised why Pansy had brought her to this place.

It reminded her of the Slytherin parties that they used to host, filled with alcohol, sensual dancing and laughter. She missed it, she really did, but life had changed, for the better now.

"I'm going to use the bathroom," Pansy whispered in Y/N's ear.

Y/N nodded, too carefree to realise her friend had left her by herself. She continued dancing to the beat, as if she were the only one on the dance floor.

She loved this, and if she could feel like this everyday, she'd give up her job and do it. But this was only temporary, fun, laughter, carelessness was temporary.

Y/N felt two hands slide around her waist, she would've told the male to remove his hands. But she was far too in her element to do that. So she encouraged it, placing her hands on top of his, making sure he mimicked her hip movements.

"You're beautiful," the deep voice whispered against her cheek.

Y/N ignored him, continuing to dance, she felt him push her closer against his hips.

She felt everything.

"Hey Y/N, I want you to meet som-"

Y/N's eyes opened, Pansy's face fell into a frown seeing the male behind Y/N. She shoved him off Y/N, "get your hands off her," she spat.

"It's— it's alright Pans," Y/N slurred, Pansy cringed internally heating her call her Pans.

"Oh— God, you're out of it!" She whispered harshly.

"I'm— not— just, a little tipsy," Y/N hiccuped, holding onto her friends waist tightly.

"Fuck— he's going to kill me," she whispered, but Y/N heard, and frowned at her comment.

"Who— was you trying to set me up with someone Pans," Y/N wiggled her eyebrows, and began laughing hysterically.

"Not anymore," she growled.

Y/N pouted, and was led out of the club by Pansy. The cold air hitting her immediately, the alcohol had rushed to her head. She couldn't help but feel the need to throw up.

"Pansy, I'm gonna—"

Y/N ran to the corner of the street, finding an alleyway. She threw up her entire stomachs contents, she never usually got in this state, this quickly. But she assumed it was because her stomach wasn't full, Pansy was right about that apple.

"I'm here Y/N," she heard Pansy speak behind her, brushing her hair out of the way.

But her voice became muffled, "it's alright— we will— next week— I'm sorry— I promise— next week— not my fault— it's time—," the sentence broken up, Y/N didn't understand a word.

But for some reason, she wanted to know, what would be happening next week.
