Ch 11: Navel Combat
This chapter was made by USS-Texas. Support the super dreadnought for I have zero knowledge on how to do Navel combat.
Somewhere between the island of Vytal, a relatively small battlegroup is conducting a simple naval patrol. In the Battlegroup are the ancient reactivated USS Texas of the New York class super dreadnoughts, The Powerful but untested USS Anthony R. Towson of the Montana-class battleships, The Veteran JS Myoko of the Kongo-Class destroyers, and the Unreliable USS Zumwalt of the Zumwalt class destroyers.
The Head of the Battlegroup is Colonel Pervak Victor "Vitya" Yemelyanovich, An original member of Ivan's Marines. Leading from the Battlegroup flagship, Anthony R. Towson, Ragnar is conducting a routine patrol of the area. He is a bit weary and anxious; this is his first time leading aboard the Towson. But with the other captains, Jack "Jackalope" Sumnter of the USS Zumwalt, Tokunga "Toku" Unojo of the JS Myoko, and the 24-year-old Ragnar K. Eksinud of the USS Texas, who is the Adopted son of Fleet Admiral Artyom Eksinud. He feels confident in his small Battlegroup's abilities.
Aboard the Towson's central Bridge
Pervak: It seems relatively quiet for this sector. Any word from the Admiralty?
Comms officer: No, sir
Pervak: Contact the other captains and make it a video call in my office.
Comms officer: Yes, sir
Pervak walks towards his office and shuts the door behind him. Sitting at his desk in front of his computer, the other captains of the Battlegroup soon appear on the Screen.
Pervak: Have any of you detected anything?
Jack: Nadda
Tokunga: No, sir
Ragnar: Nothing; you think something is going to happen?
Pervak: I'm not sure, but it's been strangely quiet.
Tokunga: Hai, This is supposed to be the supply highway for the Atlas invasion force. Yet, we have seen nothing.
Jack: Maybe they finally grew a damn brain?
Pervak:*scoffs* Doubtful, But we must keep an eye out. On other business, What do we think of these new "allies" from the Krauts?
Tokunga: We should trust them wholly. They have shown to be a great ally so far.
Jack: I don't trust them one bit.
Ragnar: Neither do I, or my Father for that matter. They shouldn't be here.
Pervak: I...I would have to agree. They shouldn't be here.
Jack: Exactly! They are a bunch of Nazis! I'm telling Ya!
Tokunga: Jack! Please! They are not Nazis!
Ragnar: Tokunga is right, I don't think we could call them Nazis, but they are still WW2-era Germans. They, No doubt, have some superiority complex.
Pervak: Maybe we are being too harsh; they haven't shown any malice towards any of us
Jack: Yet.
Tokunga: Jack, please.
Ragnar:*sigh* There are talks of placing them under heavy CIA watch. My Papa has been talking with Major General Mihaly, and he doesn't trust them either.
Pervak: General Mihaly doesn't Trust them either?
Ragnar: Yeah, it seems most of the army also agrees with him. They aren't exactly happy fighting with Nazi-era Krauts.
.Tokunga: And who do you know this?
Ragnar: I speak with Tom Macnamara sometimes. He tells me some things.
Jack: Well, at least some people see sense.
Pervak: That's enough, all of you. Return to your posts, and watch out for any Atlas ships. Pervak Out
Pervak Exits the call and walks back to his Bridge. However, when he reaches the Bridge, there is a message for him.
Comms Officer: Sir, you have a message from the Admiralty.*hands him a letter*
Pervak Raises his eyebrow in confusion but accepts the letter from the Comms officer and reads it. As he finishes the letter, he turns a ghostly pale.
Comms Officer: Sir, are you okay?
Pervak: Alert the Battlegroup! We've got a massive fleet heading our way! Sound general alarm!
The Townson's PA system shouts out General quarters, and everyone Scrambles to battle stations. All other ships in the fleet also enter Battle readiness. Everyone is confused at first as a heavy fog covers the area. But soon, a massive fleet is seen on the horizon.
Pervak: God help us all...
The Texas suddenly makes a sharp turn to port, trying to get all ten of its 14in guns to face the fleet on the horizon. Pervak orders the Towson to follow the Texas in it's maneuver. The Myoko and Zumwalt pull back behind the Battleships. The Towson lights up as the Atlas fleet enters it's firing range. The Zumwalt and the Myoko launch missile after missile, covering the vessels in white smoke. For its part, the Texas has to wait a bit longer before its old but mighty cannons sing. Several Atlas Battleships sink after the first wave of fire, but it barely dents their 50-strong fleet.
Pervak turns weary, knowing that they may very well lose this battle. He contacts Fleet Admiral Eksinud but is told he will have to hold with what he has for at least 10 hours. As the message from Artyom concludes, the Atlas Fleet fires back. The whole horizon turns a bright white from the sure amount of cannons firing. The Towson takes several rounds to the armor belt. It shakes violently under the amount of shells hitting its hull. Due to its smaller outline, the Texas manages to evade most of the shells but still takes a few shells to its deck. The Myoko and Zumwalt managed to Evade all the Shells as the battleships covered them.
The Atlas Fleet performs an encircling movement and circles the Battlegroup like a mass of sharks.
Ragnar: Fuck! They've got us surrounded! Turn hard to port! Protect the Destroyers!
Noticing what Ragnar is doing, Pervak hails him on the Radio.
Pervak: Ragnar! What the fuck are you doing!
Ragnar:*on the radio* If we lose the destroyers, we will lose! So we have to protect them! We should circle them to protect them from the Atlas ships!
Pervak: ...good plan Ragnar.
Ragnar:*on the radio* Thank you, sir.
The massive Towson Turns to port like the Texas and circles the destroyers. This whole time, the Battlegroup has been firing with all they have, and so has Atlas.
As the battle rages on, the Towson, along with the rest of the battlegroup, find themselves in a desperate struggle against the overwhelming might of the Atlas Fleet. The foggy sea is now illuminated by the continuous flashes of cannon fire and missile launches, turning the engagement into a chaotic and lethal dance.
Pervak, watches as his ship and the Texas continue to fire relentlessly at the encroaching Atlas ships. Their massive 16-inch guns and advanced missile systems unleash a storm of firepower, which proves effective in sinking several enemy vessels. Despite the early successes, the sheer size of the Atlas Fleet poses a formidable challenge.
Ragnar, makes a strategic maneuver to protect the Myoko and Zumwalt destroyers, recognizing that their loss would jeopardize the battlegroup's chances. The group forms a defensive perimeter, using the battleships to shield the smaller ships from the relentless enemy fire.
Pervak communicates with his fellow captains, coordinating their efforts and keeping an eye on the situation. This collaborative approach allows them to maintain a coordinated defense and adapt to the rapidly changing circumstances.
Despite their resolve and skill, the sheer volume of fire from the Atlas Fleet begins to take a toll. Both the Towson and Texas sustain damage from direct hits, as shells slam into their armored hulls, causing shudders and sparks to erupt within their compartments. The battle is fierce and unforgiving, with the ships of the battlegroup facing intense pressure on all sides.
The ships' crews, composed of experienced veterans and skilled sailors and marines, carry out their duties with utmost dedication and discipline. They continue to operate their weapons and systems efficiently, striving to maintain the integrity of their ships and the safety of their comrades.
As the battle stretches on, a heavy sense of determination permeates the battlegroup. They know that this engagement could have significant implications for the outcome of this campaign. While they have managed to inflict damage upon the Atlas Fleet, the question remains: will they be able to hold their ground and withstand the full might of their adversaries?
4 hours later~
The Towson has taken several rounds to it'ssuperstructure, and its 4th turret only has one working barrel, the Myoko, which has fared well and has only been hit by a few shells; the Zumwaltencountered a massive mechanical failure when 12in shell hit it's lower Bridgedisabling most of it's weapon systems, and the Texas has fared the worst. Dueto it's hull being extremely old, it is more vulnerable. Three of its tencannons have shut down from either damage or mechanical failure.
The Atlasfleet has been forced to retreat, with only five battleships surviving.
Pervak decided to make sure that those five Atlas battleships don't make it back to Atlas.
Pervak:*to his Comms Officer* Is the two Peg-shaped explosive Launcher still operational?
Comms Officer: Yes, sir.
Pervak: Fire the special shell first to slow them down.
With the Towson's 4th turret only has one working barrel we see Dasha "Tsaritsa" Petrenko, Carlos "Birdseye" Ocampo, and Corporal Frank "Buzzsaw" Westin helping the loaders load the shell in the barrel of the large turret.

The moment the shell is primed and loaded, it is launched from the Towson's turret with incredible force. For a brief moment, the Atlas battleships brace for the impact, uncertain of what's to come. They expect a standard explosive shell, but what they receive is an unexpected surprise.
The shell fired by the Towson detonates in mid-air, releasing a storm of smaller projectiles that pepper the Atlas ships. It feels as though a barrage of cannonballs is raining down upon them, causing chaos and disruption on the enemy vessels. Sailors scramble to secure the damage and tend to the wounded, while their ships' maneuverability is severely hampered.
What the Towson fired was a custom made shell that the Marines on the ship was a Grapeshot shell. And they loved it.
After that, the Towson fired the Peg-shaped explosives towards the five Atlas battleships. Hundreds of peg-shaped projectiles landed on the ships locking in place. The Atlas sailors on board the ships recognize the projectiles and paled.
Pervak: Бум... {Boom...}
The peg-shaped explosives attached to the hulls of the five remaining Atlas battleships begin to detonate. Explosions ripple across their surfaces, creating a chain reaction of fire, destruction, and chaos. The ships are rocked by the massive blasts as the carefully designed projectiles target their vital components.
Huge plumes of smoke and flames rise from the stricken vessels as they endure successive explosions. The once-proud Atlas fleet is reduced to a smoldering wreck as the fierce detonations tear through their armor and infrastructure. It's a devastating scene, with the ships breaking apart and listing heavily, their fates sealed by the well-coordinated onslaught from the Towson and its battlegroup.
Pervak watches the destruction unfold with a mix of relief and satisfaction. His decision to utilize these unorthodox but highly effective tactics has paid off, ensuring that the remaining Atlas battleships pose no further threat to the battlegroup. The enemy fleet's imminent defeat is apparent, and the horizon soon becomes a graveyard of smoldering, sinking hulks.
The Towson and its battlegroup have emerged victorious from this intense battle, despite the heavy damage they've sustained. Pervak knows that they will need time for repairs, but this hard-fought triumph stands as a testament to their resilience and resourcefulness in the face of adversity. With the Atlas threat eliminated, they can focus on ensuring the safety of the surrounding waters.
Slowly, the Battlegroup limps back to Vale to use it's port to repair the ships. Tsaritsa jumps in one out of the three working Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning IIs on the Towson and flys ahead to let the port. Her mission is to inform the authorities about the situation, ensuring that the port is ready to receive and assist the damaged vessels.
Tsaritsa's jet soars through the sky, leaving a trail of smoke as it makes its way to the port. She contacts the port's control tower and provides them with a concise yet urgent report about the condition of the USS Anthony R. Towson and the rest of the Battlegroup. The gravity of the situation is clear in her voice as she relays the extent of the damage and the need for immediate assistance.
Upon receiving this vital information, the port authorities spring into action, preparing for the arrival of the Battlegroup and coordinating with the repair teams. It's a testament to the efficiency of Vale's port operations that they can respond quickly to the unexpected crisis.
The damaged ships of the Battlegroup are soon guided into the port, where skilled technicians and engineers stand ready to assess the damage and begin repairs. It's a challenging and time-consuming process, but with the combined efforts of the military and civilian teams, the Battlegroup can be restored to full operational capacity.
Tsaritsa's quick thinking and bravery in delivering the message have played a crucial role in ensuring that the necessary support and resources are available for the Battlegroup's recovery. The journey back to Vale is a triumphant one, despite the considerable challenges that lie ahead.
