Chapter Five: Lost Souls

Gerald

We headed through town and found ourselves at a library that was a much darker version than the original library. This one was covered in blood and ash from being burnt to the ground. Yet most of the stuff seemed to be in good condition.

Emberly and Millie started looking through the books while Candice and I searched through the random objects. We found an odd white orb on a table in the back of the library. "What is it?" Candice asked, and I shrugged.

"It looks like some sort of crystal ball or like a communication orb. Typically used by psychics." Millie responded, peering over my shoulder.

"Doesn't that mean it can only be used by a psychic?" Candice asked.

"Well, yes, I suppose so, or a telepath." Millie reached forward and touched it. It revealed an image of Becca at home feeling sad without Millie wondering what was happening.

"Millie, I think I figured out your gift," I said with a chuckle.

"Great, let's see if I can use it to contact Hiromay." She said with a smile and sat down in front of the ball. She put her hands on either side of it and lightly touched her fingers against it. I wasn't exactly sure what she was doing, but smoke suddenly shot out of the ball.

Hiromay was there in a smokey magic form, and she looked around at us with a sigh. "Oh dear, not again. I was wondering what she was planning. Unfortunately, there are a lot of issues that'll have to be cleared up before you can leave." Hiromay said, and we all sighed.

"What are those?" I asked her, and she had a sad look on her face.

"Well, for starters, Millie sold her soul to Michelle playing that stupid game. While Michelle can't physically harm her now because of the second chance enactment she completed, that doesn't stop magic or emotional touch, though." Hiromay explained, and Millie rubbed her temples.

"Fabulous, go on; please talk about someone else." She sighed, and Hiromay continued.

"Gerald, you were supposed to die in 1977; the fact you got lucky and were saved by an intertwining of stories and timelines is a miracle. The devil doesn't like being cheated; she's owed a soul." Hiromay didn't even seem to have a good answer on how to solve this.

"What about Emberly and I?" Candice asked, and Hiromay looked between the two of them.

"Candice, many people are here because of Michelle using your body. Help them move on, and because Emberly lost a soul today to the pit, she will also have to help you. Millie and Gerald, you'll need to find something to exchange with Michelle for souls. She really wants them, though, so that'll prove to be more difficult than you probably imagine." Hiromay responded, seeming irritated with the mess this was turning out to be.

"Great, this should be fun," I said, and Hiromay bid her goodbyes and vanished. I turned to face my friends, "what do we do?" I asked.

"Yes, this should be fun! For right now, you'll have to figure out what you're going to do another time! I have plans for you four." Michelle appeared, and the next thing the four friends knew, they were trapped at the top of a tower. "Have fun escaping." Michelle cackled and vanished, leaving them to fend for themselves.
