Chapter 7
"He's coming back home in three days!" I take a fistful of my messy brown hair and realized that I haven't combed it in a few days. "I don't know what to do!"
A quick glance at Kat told me that she was already tired of my complaining. I would be too. In fact, I was sick of feeling anxious about this. I was tired of working myself up over something that I really shouldn't be working myself up about. But she sat me on the couch and put her hands on my shoulders. A quick glare at me said it all. Calm the fuck down.
A few deep breaths, and I felt my muscles relax a bit. Though I was still a bit shaky.
"Hannah," She started. "You need to tell him. Before he finds out when he comes home." Kat sat herself beside me and took one of my hands into her cold ones.
I don't know if I can tell him. Its stressful as it is, let alone wondering what your husband is going to say to you. He may be ecstatic about it, and I may be overreacting. But then again, he may hate me for not telling him sooner. He already had a ton of shit on his mind for the tour and I didn't want to add any extra tension.
"I'll do it with you." She smiled after I didn't reply to her. "And we can invite Breezy over, maybe even Elisa or Meagan. That way you wouldn't do it alone."
I looked back down at the ground. That might make it better. Or it may get my nerves all worked up again and I choke. But at least I would have some sort of support if everything goes down the wrong way with Brendon.
"Yeah." I finally spoke.
"Alright, good." She rubbed my shoulder in a reassuring way, before getting up and grabbing her phone. "I was gonna call them anyways. Socializing is definitely something that you should be doing since you haven't been out of the house in awhile." Awhile? Try since the last day Amelie and Knox were over. I pretty much just stayed in the house mainly watching movies, messing around in the music room, and playing Brendon's shooter games. They were actually quite fun, though I didn't know what I was doing most of the time. Old school Nintendo is more up my alley. But I never left the house, other than a step into the backyard to let the dogs do their business.
I realized that I was in a daze for quite some time, hearing selective pieces from Kat's phone calls. 'Elisa.'...'See you then.'... 'Meagan.'...'Sorry.'...'Breezy.'...'Bring them too.'
"Okay so," Kat sat next to me again, phone in her hand. "Meagan can't make it, she's spending time with family. But Breezy and Elisa said they would try to be here in an hour. Breezy has to get the children ready."
"Did you tell them?" I ask, not looking up from the floor.
"I figured you could." Of course. "Be a bit of practice." I mean she had a point. Though they would actually see for themselves in person rather than on a video chat, which I have just casually hidden the news to Brendon when skyping him every night. I'm surprised he has suspected yet.
"I guess." I couldn't form any words, my mind was in such a twist.
"Hey, it'll be alright." Kat took ahold of my chin and forced me to look at her. "Stop worrying." If only it was that easy.
~~~
"Hey Hannah!" Breezy walked through the living room and sat on the couch next to me, accompanied by Knox and Amelie. Elisa soon made her appearance afterward.
I had one of the couch pillows covering my stomach and smiled slightly at them. My heart rate started to quicken, and I had to take a few moments to calm myself down.
"Kat told us you had some news?" Elisa pushed a strand of her black hair away from her eyes.
I couldn't keep it any longer. Especially not with the four of them, plus Kat, staring me down. So I took a few deep breaths and closed my eyes for a second. And then slowly pulling the pillow away from me, I braced myself for the worst. But instead my ears were filled with gasps and squeals. And soon, both girls and the children had me in a hug.
"Oh my god! Congratulations!" Elisa said.
I couldn't help but to smile. This was going to be easy. If Brendon acts somewhat like this that is.
"Have you told Brendon yet?" Breezy says after they all pull themselves away from me. I honestly felt as if I were suffocating with them hugging me so tightly.
But my smile faded as the words rolled off her tongue. There was a sigh from one of them as I looked away.
"Hannah, you've gotta tell him." Elisa sat on the other side of me and put one of her arms around my shoulders. "He should have been the first one to know."
"Its not...that easy." My throat closes up as I try to fight back the urge to cry.
"Look," Breezy spoke up this time., placing her hand on one of mine. "I know how it feels. I was really nervous about telling Dallon. But once you do, it'll be worth it." She lightly kissed the top of Amelie's tiny head.
"I guess, but..." My words come to a stop as I couldn't exactly come up with a rebuttal. "I..I don't know. I'm just scared is all."
Breezy gently pulled Knox onto her lap and scooted herself a little closer to where I was sitting. The boy had a cheery smile plastered on his face. I could get used to something like that.
Elisa opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off by the sudden noise from my laptop.
It was a Skype call from Brendon.
~Brendon's Point of View~
"Dude, you're gonna break your neck one day doing that." Dallon's voice slightly echoed off the dressing room walls. "Especially if the drum set is lower to the ground like it was."
"Ehh." I waved it off. "I'll be fine, man. I like how the crowd reacts." I let out a small laugh as I throw the black tee shirt in my hand, to the leather couch to my left. All the way from my forehead down to where the top of my pants started was dripping with sweat. I wouldn't doubt if it was further down too. It was honestly kinda gross. I needed a shower as soon as possible. I don't know if I want to wait to get on the tour bus and shower at the hotel, or to take one here, or if I just want someone to pour cold water over me. I'm down with all the options honestly.
"That crowd was amazing, holy shit." Kenny opened the dressing room door, with Dan, our fill in drummer, following close behind him.
And now that we're all in here..."I call first shower!" And with that, I quickly run into the small bathroom connected with the room. I lock the door behind me so they don't push me back out or do some stupid prank on me while I'm in here. And knowing them, they probably would. Even more so if Fall Out Boy convinced them to.
Looking in the mirror, I realize I looked gross. Sweat was everywhere on the skin that was visible, and my hair looked super fucking greasy too.
I undress as quickly as I could, which only consisted of pants and boxers. My shirt was back out where the guys were right? Quickly stepping into the shower, my shoulders relaxed as the hot water ran down my skin.
~~~
All four of us finally finished our showers after a good hour, and we got onto the tour bus. It was still on the earlier side, so I guess its not too late to call Hannah.
Clicking on her name, I await her answer. The call rang a bit longer than usual, and I start to worry. Though it was only about eleven thirty, Hannah isn't usually asleep until later.
But then she finally answered, and a smile spread across my face.
"Hey, babe." I say.
"Ew Brendon!" Dallon yells from across the bus. "Stop being all lovey dovey!" Kenny starts cracking up at his statement, before walking toward the bunks where Dallon and Dan were.
"Oh shut up." I yell back at him. "Everyone on this bus knows you're on the phone until you fall asleep with Breezy."
"Hey, that's different!" I just roll my eyes and look back at my wife through the screen, not bothering to reply. Because knowing him, he'll keep going.
Something was different. Something was wrong. Hannah looked like she was going to break down in an anxiety attack.
"What's wrong?" I ask. I wanted her to be happy and smiling. And this worried me. Even more so that I couldn't be by her side right now.
"Hey." A soft voice came from the other side of the screen. "You'll be fine. We're right here."
"Elisa? Is that you?" I ask, a little puzzled.
"Hey Bren." Her smiling face appeared on the screen. "Actually Breezy and Kat are here too."
"Oh, hey girls." I say, though I couldn't see all of them. They all replied with a light hello.
But my focus remained on Hannah. Her eyes got red as she tried her best not to cry.
"Hey," I got her attention and she looked at me. And a tear finally escaped her eye. She couldn't hold it any longer. "Babe what's wrong?"
"You got this Hannah." Elisa's voice was the only one I heard.
After Hannah calmed herself down a bit, she started to speak. Her voice was still shaky though. What I didn't expect to hear was some pretty... Drastic news. It was definitely something I did not plan on hearing.
"I uh. I'm gonna get to bed." I was in shock. "I love you." And I closed my laptop, ending the conversation.
I placed the device on the couch next to me and hung my head in my hands. I couldn't believe this. Was I happy? Of course. But...it wasn't exactly the thing I was expecting to go home to in three days.
"Hey, you alright?" Dallon walked back out into the open area in just a pair of sweat pants and knelt down in front of me. How do I say this?
"I'm going to be a father."
