Chapter 16

***For those of you who read the quick update I posted before I deleted it, I lied. There may be like one or two more chapters left of this. Three MAYBE***

~Brendon's Point of View~

Ever since Hannah's 'freak out' the other night, she wasn't seeming herself. Both leading up to the delivery, and after. She was refusing any sort of human interaction between the doctors and nurses. She even pushed me and the baby away a few times. All of this was confusing me. The doctor also had to end up giving me a special kind of formula for Melody, since Hannah's refused to be anywhere near the baby, let alone breast feed. Why is she pushing us away? Especially the perfect child that she created?

The doctor even said that she was becoming extremely ill. So much so, that whenever she would try to eat something, it would come right back up not even fifteen minutes later. Any time anyone was in the room with her, she would go pale and her entire body would shake. I refused to believe that it was anything other than her nerves. She would soon relax and everything would be fine. Right?

"Mr.Urie." A voice rang through my ears, it was familiar but still seemed foreign to me. Maybe because I wasn't paying close enough attention to register who the voice belonged to. My eyes were fixated on Hannah, whom was currently screaming at a nurse, through the glass of the door to her room and I didn't want to pull away from my gaze.

"Huh?" I turned my head see the doctor standing about a foot away from me. Concern flooded his eyes.

"I'd like to speak to you about your wife." The doctor motioned for me to follow him down the hallway.

Looking down at my tiny Melody sleeping in my arms, I let out a sigh and follow the doctor. We only went about three doors down, I assume to just out of earshot if Hannah decided to listen in.

"Usually I'd say that the couple may go home about two days after the delivery of the child if the woman is stable enough to." The doctor paused for a moment. Was she saying that we could leave? That she needed to stay here? All of this was killing me inside. "But I'm afraid that, that's not the case this time." She looked at me with saddened eyes as if she just witnessed something tragic.

"Go on." I tried to keep my voice at a more monotone level so I didn't wake up my baby girl.

"Due to Hannah's anxiety and stress levels, we believe that that's what is making her ill." The doctor shoved her hands into her jacket pockets. "I'm concerned about her vitality levels and I'd like to keep her here for awhile until she becomes stable again."

"Not to go against a doctor and say that she shouldn't stay here, but Hannah isn't a big fan of hospitals." I replied to her, looking down at the baby in my arms. "Maybe just being here is a cause to the way she's acting."

Melody began to stir, her hand reaching out of the blanket she was wrapped in as she opened her eyes. Her big dark brown eyes. And I didn't notice until now, that she got them from me. It made my heart begin to beat fast as it sank in that I helped to create something this beautiful. And she was looking directly at me. She wasn't crying, it just seemed as though she was observing my face.

"Mr.Urie?" I looked up at the doctor whom pulled my attention away from Melody. "I'd like to keep her here at least over night. If she improves, then we can talk about her departure." She smiles at me and walks in the other direction down the hall.

Honestly, like I said, I believe that being here is what's causing Hannah to act like this. But if that's the doctor's wishes, then so be it. I can't argue with that. I just hope she's alright to leave in the morning.

"You wanna go see mommy?" I turn my attention back towards Melody whom seemed wide awake and more alert than ever. "If she even wants to let us in." I sighed. Hannah's never acted this way before. She's never pushed me away like this. And you'd think that being a mother, she'd never want to be separated from her child.

Slightly bouncing the baby in my arms, I slowly make my way back over towards Hannah's room. There was silence behind the door, which meant that she was no longer freaking out at one of the nurses. I opened the door, peering into her room. She was asleep. Willingly or forcefully, I didn't know.

Stepping inside, I close the door behind me and pull up a chair next to her bed.

"I'm sorry Hannah." I looked up at her restless body. Though she was sleeping, the heart monitor was a little faster than normal. "One more night, and then I promise we can go home and everything will be fine."

Melody began to make small whimpers. My heartbeat quickened, as I didn't want to wake Hannah from her sleep. Reacting quickly, I positioned myself in a way to hold Melody and the bottle of formula I was given earlier at the same time. As soon as she started eating, she went quiet.

~~~
The sudden sound of the baby crying, startled me awake from a sleep I didn't even know I was having. Bouncing her up and down, and trying to coo her back to sleep or at least to stop crying was all I could do at the moment.
"Get out." A soft voice bit through the air. Looking up, I notice Hannah was awake looking at me. But there was something off. The usual loving look in her eyes was completely gone, and instead replaced with anger and hatred. What the hell was going on?
"Babe, its only me." I spoke as calm as I could considering she was practically staring a hole into my chest. Melody was still crying, which wasn't making the situation any lighter.
"I said get out." Her teeth clenched and her voice increased an octave. This wasn't her. The Hannah I knew seemed to be gone. And what was left was fear and anger.
"Hannah, its me. Brendon." I scooted the chair closer to the bed. "Your husband?" Her heart monitor quickened as her breathing became unsteadily heavy. She began to shake again, this time a little more violently than she did a day ago. Quiet sobs escaped her as she looked away from me.
Shit. I knew what this meant. Still holding onto a crying Melody, I got up from the chair and ran over to the door. Opening it, I shouted for a doctor or a nurse. Someone. If I hadn't practically grown up with Hannah, I would have been more worried about what was happening to her. She was having one of her panic attacks, but this time it was a little more convenient since we were already at a hospital. She hadn't had one since the time I had to punch a hole through her door a few years ago.
After about a minute of calling for the doctor, whom nurses said they would inform right away, I no longer heard Hannah's heavy breathing. The doctor better hurry her ass up.
And as if on cue, the doctor turned around the corner, running towards me with a few nurses by her side.
"Mr.Urie, if you would step out if the room please." She said as she pushed passed me. One of the male nurses actually pushed me out of the room.
"Wait!" I tried getting back into the room until they closed the door in my face and shut the blind to the window. That's my wife and I have every right to be in the room.
Sighing, I hit my back against the opposing wall and sunk down to the ground.  Melody was still crying from earlier, and at this point, I don't blame her. Readjusting myself, so I was holding her in my other arm, I pulled out my cell phone and decided to call someone I was intending to when I got home. Or Hannah for that matter, though he was my brother in law we still weren't on the best of terms.
"Hello?" His voice rang through my ears. God, I didn't want to talk to him right now, all I wanted was to be in the room with Hannah.
"Hey Ryan." I tried to sound as cheery as possible.
"What's up?" He asks. I could hear a bit of confusion in his voice. I rarely ever called this man, so it probably came to a surprise to him that I was doing so.
"I was going to wait until we got home before I said anything," I took a deep breath before continuing, "But come to the nearest hospital and meet your new niece."
