Chapter 14
***I know you guys are getting sick of my authors notes, or don't even read them anymore. But I wanted to say that I'm so sorry I haven't updated in forever. I've had to deal with A LOT emotionally and I just haven't had the motivation. I've tried to make this chapter as long as I could without writing what I already had in mind for next chapter. I feel like I at least owe you guys that much.
This was supposed to be set in December, but I changed it to January from the previous two chapters, cause I didn't feel like writing a xmas chapter.
And a quick thank you to getting Far Too Young To Die to over 106k reads***
The rest of the time spent at Ryan's house was slightly discomforting. I mean, it was nice to visit him again but the whole reason why I came over here was to get some answers. And those answers weren't given to me. As much as I would like to hear whatever the hell Luna did in the past that was so wrong, it was making Ryan extremely upset. And I didn't want to make it worse by pestering him about it.
Ryan and I had an agreement when we were younger. If we began to feel the need to stop a conversation because it was making us upset or angry to the point of either breaking something or crying to much to even speak, then we would stop and save the conversation for another time. We haven't really been following this agreement in the past, but Ryan had brought it up and to try and enforce it again. The reasoning behind it was because of the pregnancy and he didn't want me to loose the other one too.
"I think I'm going to head home." It's been probably about an hour that I've been at Ryan's house so far. I was tired from all of this and all I wanted was to snuggle up against Brendon on the couch, watching a movie.
"So soon?" Ryan's head perks up, his face wore a saddened expression as he looked over at me.
"Yeah, I told Brendon I'd only be a little while." I stand up from his couch and begin to walk over towards the front door. "It was nice seeing you though. I'll talk to you soon."
"Bye, Hannah. Nice seeing you too." He remained in his position on the couch, only turning his head to look at me leave.
As I left Ryan's house, I couldn't help but to think about this whole situation. Luna seemed like a nice person. What ever could she have done to deserve Ryan's reaction? Or Brendon's for that matter. Did Brendon know about this? The way he spoke to her gave me suspicions that he knew something I didn't.
Once I walked into the house, I was greeted by two small and rambunctious fur balls. Both were wagging their tails and barking at me.
"Hey guys." I placed my keys down on a little side table we had next to the door. I couldn't help but to laugh at how excited they were as their little nails tapped against the hardwood floor.
"Babe, I'm home!" I yelled from the front door. The dogs were still going nuts as I tried to get passed them, without stepping on their tiny paws.
But Brendon didn't reply to me. Did he not hear me? His car is here, so he must be home.
The sound of the television in the background gave an indication that he could be in the living room. It didn't sound too loud, so I don't know how in the world he couldn't have heard me walk in. Especially with the dogs barking.
I make my way into the living room to find Brendon laying on the couch, one arm on his chest and the other hanging off the side. His head was resting against the cushiony material of one of the pillows. His lips were parted slightly as he let out a small snore. And every once in awhile, his index finger would twitch.
A smile formed on my lips as I looked at him as he slept for a few moments. He looked so peaceful right now. As if nothing was bothering him. As if he didn't have a single care in the world. It was nice to finally see him sleep. This whole situation with the baby was stressing him out just as much as it was me. Most nights he would refuse to sleep until I did, which in all honesty, I have trouble getting to sleep in the first place. And then he told me that he would force himself awake with every toss and every turn I would do, just in case something happened. But it wasn't his fault that the first child didn't make it, it was mine. Nonetheless, it was as if he felt obligated to make sure it didn't happen again.
Now that I'm thinking about the baby, everything flooded my mind with what's going to happen. The responsibilities were going to be endless. I just wish everything was all set and ready for when they actually arrive. The nursery was almost done, the baby shower is next week, my last check up, since this was a complicated pregnancy, is tomorrow. So many things happening in such a short amount of time. And it didn't seem as though things were going to be ready in the next two, maybe less, months when this child was no longer in my stomach.
But its going to be perfect and its going to fall into place. All of it. Because I have the man I love to help me care for this child. And he's pretty damn excited to be a father, I just hope things remain the same when he or she is born.
"I love you Brendon." I whispered and quietly make my way over to him. Trying not to wake him, I pressed my lips to his forehead before getting at the attempt to go up the stairs.
Once I get to the top of the steps, I felt the need to see the nursery again. Even though I've seen the progress and everything we've done with it up to this point, I still felt like a kid in a candy story every time I looked at it.
I peer inside the smaller bedroom and smile. Excitement filled my body just thinking about a little person running around within the baby blue walls and playing with their favorite toys in here. Only a little under the last trimester, and this child will be here. I don't think I could wait any longer.
"The room will be amazing once its finished." Brendon slid his arms around my stomach from behind. The sudden touch caused my skin to jump. And all I got from him in return was a chuckle. He sure moves quietly for someone who just woke up from a nap.
"The last check up in tomorrow." My head leaned back to rest on his shoulder.
"I know." He replied. "I wouldn't miss it for the world. And while we're out, Kat and Ryan offered to finish the room for us. Kat said she has some cute ideas up her sleeves, which involves a lot of these Christmas gifts we got from everyone." He kissed my cheek and unhooked his arms from around me. Now that I'm not daydreaming about this room, the more I've come to realize that it still needed a lot of work and unpacking. We had asked everyone to not spend their money on us for this past Christmas, but they didn't listen. So we insisted that if anything, get us things for the baby, though we had already bought many things anyway.
"Can I ask you something?" The whole situation from earlier today popped into my mind as it was still eating away at me.
"Of course." His voice was calm, though his eyes showed curiousness.
"Did you know about Luna before today?" As soon as the words fell out of my mouth, Brendon's eyebrows narrowed.
He sighed before opening his mouth to speak. "Yes. I did. She angers me to a great extent. But those reasons aren't for you to know."
"Well why not?" I just wanted to know what the fuck was so bad about her. But neither Ryan nor Brendon are wanting to tell me. It was quite irritating.
"Because, Hannah." His voice deepened showing his annoyance with me at the moment. "It was something that happened between her, me, and Ryan. And I intend for it to stay that way."
"Brendon please." I was practically begging. "We promised no more secrets."
"Let's just say," His eyes shifted to the floor. "That it involves you. And its not a very nice situation." He places his hands on my shoulders and gives me one of his warm smiles. His brown eyes softened. "Hannah, I love you. More than anything. But please just trust me when I say that this could hurt you mentally. And I don't want to do that to you."
"Fine." I was slowly giving up with this situation. If neither of them were wanting to give me details about this mysterious sister of mine, then I get I'll let it be. Though I could talk to Luna herself, but I don't know if she would have and clue as to what exactly I mean. Hell, I don't even know what I would mean if I were to talk to her.
"There's nothing for you to worry about." His smile never left his face as his lips connected with mine.

"I'm happy to tell you that your child is finally growing completing normal and healthy again." The doctor walked into the room with a few medical papers in her hands. Her heels clicked against the floor as she walked over to a stool to sit on. "There were a few concerns that I had about how he or she would continue to develop, considering they were sharing the nutrients. But everything checks out fine." She smiled, showing her perfectly white teeth.
"That's amazing news." I squeeze Brendon's hand a little tighter.
"And your paperwork checks out." She flips through a few sheets of paper attached to her clipboard before looking back up at us. "You guys are free to go. It was nice meeting you too and I wish you the best of luck." The doctor stands up and extends out her arm. Both Brendon and I take her hand in a handshake before she walks out of the room.
I couldn't contain my squeals of joy as I wrap my arms around Brendon. Everything is fine. Everything is perfect.
"Come on, let's go home and see the progress on the baby's room." Brendon takes my hand in his. "We can tell them the good news."
We then left the doctors office without another word. Every once in awhile as we walked to the car, I couldn't help but to glance at Brendon whom was smiling ear to ear, like a kid in a candy store.
The entire ride back home was silent. It was a soothing silence. It was a everything is turning out to be perfect kind of silence. That and I was feeling very enthusiastic about this whole situation. So if I burst out talking, I might startle Brendon who was currently driving.
It didn't take too long to get back to the house, and sure enough, both Ryan and Kat's cars were here. I wonder how far they had gotten on the room.
"Hannah." Brendon's voice cut through the thin air, backing me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, right." I unbuckled myself and stepped out of the car. Quickly closing the door, I practically run up to our house. It was definitely a lot more work than I originally thought it to be.
"Guys! We're home!" Brendon yells as we step into the house. The dogs greeted us with their tails whipping back and forth.
"We're up here!" Kat ended up yelling from upstairs.
"Ready?" Brendon looked down at me. All I could do was smile and nod, too excited to speak.
We made our way upstairs and soon got to the baby's room where Kat and Ryan were. They were both standing in front of the door waiting for us.
"Okay, go on in guys." Kat opened the door and stepped aside so we could enter the room.
The second I walked in, my eyes grew wide. It looked amazing. The floor was covered with colorful carpets, contrasting well with the baby blue walls which now had white patches on them making it look like clouds. Everything was in the perfect place. The white crib was against the far wall, with a play chest at the foot of the crib. They even got a bookcase that fit perfectly in one of the corners, piled high with all the bedtime stories Brendon and I will be reading, and empty picture frames waiting to be filled, along with a few stuffed animals. But out of everything else in the room, what really grabbed my attention was that there was a tree in the opposite corner of the bookcase. As much as I loved it, I was curious as to why there was a piece of a birch tree in my child's room.
"Before you go asking any questions," Ryan stepped in front of my sight of the tree. "Its preserved so it won't rot on you, and the leaves are fake. Kat bought them at a craft store awhile ago. I thought it was a nice touch. But if you don't like it, I'll be more than willing to remove it."
"No, its...I think its pretty cool." I turned to Brendon who nodded in agreement.
"Feel free to rearrange anything." Kat chimed in. "We unpacked a lot of toys and clothes and put them away for you. And I thought that the cloud effect on the wall would be cool. They might feel like their flying all the time."
"I love it!" I wrapped my arms around Kat in a hug. And then the same to Ryan. It was cute. It was creative. And I think I'm going to grow to love it more and more every day.
***I based to room off of the one at my aunts house. I was at her baby shower not too long ago, and yes..there was a tree in the corner of the room. But in all honestly, it was pretty fucking cool.***
