Chapter Three
Jasper's POV
I walked down the halls of the castle bored and not tired at all. I couldn't sleep or take a nap for some reason and that was odd because I could sit in a chair in the morning and sleep as soon as I lay back.
But I felt uneasy. Like if I slept I would miss something important. What was on the agenda today again? I think as I walk towards the front of the castle near the throne room.
Ok lets see . . . first breakfast. Then music lessons, work, self defense, lunch, meeting with the new staff, dinner. Hmm?
Meeting with the new staff. Is that's what is so important today? Why? It was almost time for that but It doesn't seem important but it feels important for some reason.
It's only new maids and butlers. Cooks. Servants. I dont see why my mind thinks its such a significance to my day. When my favorite part of the day is self defense. I love it.
What? A vampire has to be strong in order to stand tall and not be pushed around. I can't let people mess with me. I'm the vampire prince for crying out loud. I've gotta be prepared for everything. Every little obstacle that comes my way. Threats. War. Battle. Challenge to the throne. Anything.
And It's fun in my opinion. And I've already mastered hunting. The best part is the reward of the blood from my victim.
I only need mortal blood once a month. And at most its a cup but it satisfies me. If I dont drink it i could go through immense pain. And hunger that's for sure.
I usually eat animals and bone marrow. Normal stuff for vampires. But the reckless, evil, wild, vampires eat mortals. Everyday. And it's becoming a huge problem and is making mortals fear our kind. . . well they already fear us but this is just making it worse. They even took down the east kingdom of the forest. Copper Castle. They had good people in that castle. The king and queen had to run away with their son and young daughter. Although oddly the daughter isn't even a vampire. (But that's a different story to tell later)
I went to my room thinking more about the meeting. I sat on my maroon and gold colored couch.
I looked around my room getting more bored by the second. Their has to be something fun to do. But what? I took a deep breath but my breath hitched immediately. What was that smell?!
It smells amazing! I sniffed the air. It was faint but still there. I went and looked out the window to look if it was something delicious outside that was the scent.
There were a group of mortals of different kinds. They were sort of far away walking towards the castle. I saw some skeletons like me but not vampire. And a few animal people.
But which one of them was giving off that scent? Oh that delicious smell I could sniff all day and not get tired of! I sniffed the air once again and sighed.
I closed the window and was walked out my room and down the hall. I had to find out. My father, King Fallacy the King of all Vampires was at his throne with his lover Encre by his side in his own throne. Smaller than his but just the right size. They have been together for a long time. Ruling side by side. Encre was always there for Fallacy when he was stressed or mad or even rarely in front of me sad. After they got together from what I heard he turned Encre to a vampire to be his forever. To love him forever.
Because it is law for every royal vampire that there lover must be a vampire or they both shall be executed.
But there is a risk. The mortal could die from being turned into a vampire. It is excruciatingly painful and takes days. But Encre was brave enough to take the chance to be with my father. And i admire him for that.
95% of changed mortals die after a few days of being a vampire but fallacy made sure Encre wouldn't die. He stayed by his side. And held him till it was over. Till Encre was like him.
Ever since they have been together. Officially. They got married. I was their and so was most of the people in the kingdoms and even lots of mortals from the towns and villages.
It was a day to remember.
"Hello Encre, father. Good morning. " I said to them. Encre smiled and waved with his hand that wasnt already holding fallacys hand. "Hello Jasper good morning to you to!" he said. He learned English but his accent was very strong. From time to time it would change to French. But I didn't mind.
"Good morning. " Father said. "Sit before the new staff comes in." I nodded and sat in my throne on the left of fathers.
The smell was getting stronger and I was so anxious to know who was giving off the scent. Who? I tapped my foot impatiently.
I looked at the glass pane windows to the castle door. Surly they were mere steps away. I watched the door intensely.
And it started to open.
