39: Things are progressing nicely

As my pregnancy progressed, so did everything else. I had to buy clothes as my belly started to grow. My little bump grew a little more over the next two months.

After the initial shock of telling everyone, they were happy for us. The twins couldn't wait to meet the little one. They were so excited they started planning a shower for me.

Scott was enamored with my body and couldn't keep his hands off me. I wasn't complaining.

The girls patted my belly and told Batman how excited they were to meet them. Yes, they still wanted to name the baby Batman.

I still worked as I was getting ready to enter my sixth month and the end of the second semester. We were also going to find out what we were having when we went to our doctor's appointment.

I lay on the table as the doctor examined me and then put cold goop on my swollen belly. He placed a wand on my stomach and moved it around.

"Everything looks good. The baby is coming along nicely. Do you want to know the sex?"

"Yes," we both said excitedly.

He chuckled at us.

"But we decided to wait," Scott said. The doctor gave us a look. We're having a gender reveal party next month. Could you put the picture in a sealed envelope?"

"I can do that," the doctor said.  He put the picture in the envelope and sealed it while I got off the table with Scott's help.  The doctor handed the envelope to Scott, and we left.  Our next stop was the bakery.

                             *********
We drove to the bakery and pulled up. Both of us got out, and I waddled into the bakery. We talked with one of the bakers and placed an order for a cake, explaining what we needed. She took the envelope and smiled. She said she would be glad to accommodate us and congratulated us.

The party was in a couple of weeks, and we couldn't wait. We left the bakery to pick up the girls before heading to Tara's and Kelly's.

We picked them up and drove over to the house, pulling into the driveway. As I exited the car, Scott went and got the girls out.

I waddled into the house behind them.

"Come on, pokey," he yelled.

"You try housing another person for nine months and see how fast you move," I yelled, causing him to chuckle.

I waddled up to the door and went inside.  Tara greeted us, "It's about time you got here."

"Sorry, someone is a bit slower these days," he grinned. I shot him a glare. Tara laughed as I shook my head. "Comedians. That's what I'm surrounded by with everyone."

I waddled into the kitchen to see Kelly cooking.

"Something smells good," I said.

"That would be lunch," he smiled. "How did the visit go?"

"Good. The baby is growing wonderfully, and I'm right on schedule. In a couple of weeks, everyone, including us, will find out what we're having," I said.

"I bet you all can't wait."

"Nope, although the girls want Batman as a name," I told him, making him chuckle.

Scott and Tara walked in as Kelly said, "When does Georgia's adoption become final?"

"Next week, Rob said we just need to sign some papers, and Lina will become Georgia's mother legally," Scott explained.

"See, and just think you two thought I was crazy for introducing you two," he grinned, causing us to roll our eyes at him.

"Is anyone home?"  We heard Kara yell.

"And where would we be?  Our cars are out front!"  Tara yelled.

"I'm in no mood for your attitude, twin," she yelled as she came in with Wyatt and Avie.

Avie approached me and patted my belly, "Hi, Batman."  Scott and I laughed, and then she ran off to play with the girls.

"Ignore my woman. She's a bit moody today," Wyatt said.

"It's called being pregnant, you doof," Kara told him.  He rolled his eyes as we laughed.

Kara and Wyatt found out they were expecting a month after we did. She's around four months along.  Then we heard Mel and Brent come in.

"Be careful," he said to her.

"I am careful," she shot back.

"Well, I don't want you to fall," he said as they walked in.

"First-time father," Kelly smirked, causing us to laugh.

Mel found out she was expecting right after I told her I was.  There must have been something in the water lately.

Surprisingly, even though she was okay with not having kids when she found out, she was happy, and Brent was over the moon. Better late than never.

The three of us took a seat. I had to get off my feet because my ankles were starting to swell.

"So, did you find out what you're having," Brent asked us.

"Nope, we are waiting until the gender reveal party along with everyone else," I said to him.

"And you're cool with this," Wyatt asked Scott.

We all looked at him as he said, "Not really, because I'm dying to know if we are having a prince or a princess. I'm hoping it's a boy because as much as I love my girls, I'm a bit overrun right now," he said to Wyatt, causing us to laugh.

"I'm hoping for a little girl so I can spoil her as much as her mommy," Brent said, which caused us, girls, to go "aww."

"I'm good with whatever I have as long as it's healthy," Wyatt said.

Kelly finished cooking, and Tara helped him bring the food to the table. We called the girls to the table, and once Kelly said grace, we dug in.

As I ate, the baby started kicking up a storm. I stopped and sat back, earning a look from everyone until Scott reached over, placed his hand on my belly, and talked to my stomach.

"Okay, settle down so mommy can eat. We all know you don't want to be left out, and trust me, you aren't. Soon, you will be here, and we can't wait to meet you," he said as we watched him. Then, the baby settled down. I couldn't help but smile. Scott had that calming effect on the baby.

We finished eating and visited for a while before heading home. It had been a long day, and I only wanted to relax.

Once we returned, Scott cared for the girls while I sat down and relaxed. Once he got them situated, he joined me on the couch.

"Are they all settled?" I asked.

"Yes, thanked god," he sighed. I giggled.

"When you were in the hospital, it was quite interesting with them." I looked at him. "Both have their way of doing things."

"That they do," I said to him.

"But it made me realize how much they and I need you," he said, looking at me. I couldn't help but sigh. Being asleep for a month was something. I could hear them, but I couldn't respond. It broke my heart to hear Scott and Ben while I lay there.

I reached for his hand and took it, "Well, I'm here and not going away. Plus, it's not like I would get very far before you caught me."

He chuckled, "Nope. Considering you move much slower these days, in the beginning, not so much."

I giggled.

"We should figure out a name for the little one. I'm pretty sure if we don't, they will end up with the name Batman," he said.

"Yeah, I don't think that would go over well with the baby when they get older," I reasoned.

"Well, for a girl, I love the name Aurora," he suggested.

"Like Sleeping Beauty?"

"Well, we have Princess Kami and Princess Georgia. We might have to have another princess along with them," he shrugged.

"I like it," I smiled.

"As for the boy, I would love to name it Noah," he told me.

"Why, Noah?"

"That's my middle name," he said.

I thought about it, Scott Noah Stevens. That was interesting; I never knew his middle name because it had never come up before.

"I like Noah," I smiled.

"Okay, so Aurora for a girl and Noah for a boy?"

"Yes."

"Finally, I get to name my child," he said with relief.

"You didn't name Georgia?"  I looked at him, a bit surprised.

"I was going to, but Victoria already filled out the paperwork before I could do anything. I mean, don't get me wrong, Georgia is fine, but I wanted to have a say in it," he explained.

"Well, Ben and I both decided, if it were a boy, he would name it, and if it were a girl, I would name it. I gave Kami part of my middle name so she would always have a part of me with her," I explained.

He smiled at me.

So it was decided. I was glad we chose names because I didn't want to be the person who spent forever trying to give a baby a name.  By the time I figured it out, they would be graduating from college.

At least the baby won't be called Batman. That was a plus.
