Part Of My Past - Alex
After editing Backfire, I realised how much I missed these two, so I had to write something else from Alex's POV. I hope you all enjoy this little one shot.

Part of my Past - Alex
“Alex?” I turned around when I heard my name and I caught my breath when I saw him standing there in the middle of the men’s department.
I hadn’t seen him in so long and he looked almost the same, he just had a new tattoo in his arm, but besides that, he was the same. His grey eyes were on me, staring with surprise as a slow smile started to crawl its way up to his lips, his tan skin was the same under the dark clothes that were his trademark, the piercing in his ears, eyebrow and lip, all the tattoos on his arms, the rider boots and that cocky smirk that made me fall for him once.
Marcus was in front of me.
“Wow, I haven’t seen you in so long. You look the same,” he said seeming glad to see me.
“Yeah, I haven’t seen you since I found you and Sarah on the sofa, half-naked and everything,” I answer without keeping the bitterness inside. It had been so long ago, yet it still made me mad.
“Oh, c’mon, Alex. That was so long ago. Can’t you forgive me already? It was a mistake,” he insisted taking a step closer but I stepped back immediately. “Now I know that she wasn’t worth it. I’ve tried to talk to you but you never answered my calls,” he added and I rolled my eyes.
“You really expected me to answer your calls? I thought you had a little brain at least,” I spat and he looked at me impressed, next he smiled as if my behaviour amused him.
“Always so feisty. That’s why I’ve always liked you,” Marcus took another step closer.
“Pff, please. I bet Sarah wasn’t the only one while we were together, so spear me all the lies. You never cared about me.” I tried to turn around and leave him there; for me, the conversation was over but he grabbed my elbow. I shoved him off immediately, not bearing his touch.
“Don’t be like that. You know I loved you, Alex. There was no one like you, even after all this time I still can see that.”
“The what a shame you lost your chance. God day, Marcus,” I stated ready to leave him there for second time that day, but he didn’t let me go again. Oh my God, he was looking for a fight.
“Won’t you give me a second chance? We all deserve one, don’t you think?” He was pleading with his eyes, yet his smile was sure that he got me.
Arsehole.
“Yeah, we deserve second chances but we can’t always get what we want, right? Plus, I have a boyfriend now so fuck off.”
“Oh yeah? Maybe you just want me to fight him for you. I can, if that’s what you want, Alex. I just want you back,” he insisted taking another step closer. My patience was running out.
“And I want you as far away as possible. Got it? Now let me go,” I told him slowly. When you were treating with stupid people you had to be considerate with them, to think of their limitations. God, what did I see in him? How was possible that I loved him? I was as stupid as him, then.
“Alex? What’s going on?” I heard his voice, his characteristic accent and my whole body responded at his proximity. I didn’t have to see him to know he was at my back.
I turned around to find his worried blue eyes watching me and Marcus who still was holding my elbow. I felt his grip tightening and I was two seconds about to kick him in the balls.
“Niall,” I call his name with a smile. Only looking at him could calm my assassin instincts. “Just an arsehole that doesn’t understand I don’t wanna see him.” I looked over my shoulder at Marcus who was glaring at Niall, his eyebrow raised. “This is Marcus,” I told Niall and the surprise in his face made me giggle. Yeah, Marcus was a bit intimidating, considering how built he was and that he was, at least, a head taller than Niall.
“This is your boyfriend?” Marcus asked with clear mock in his voice. I saw red and I didn’t kill him right there just because we were in the middle of the shop. “C’mon, Alex, you can’t be with that!”
“I am and I’m happy with him. Turns out that he is a million times more of a man than you are. He’s not an idiot. Now let me go before I hit you, Marcus,” I threated and he let go of my hand, but he still was glaring Niall and my boyfriend wasn’t better, he looked about to jump over Marcus and make him pay for touching me.
I walked towards Niall and took his hand, urging him to leave but I couldn’t move him. “This is the idiot that cheated on you, right?” He muttered with gritted teeth.
“Yeah, but let’s forget about him. He’s not worth it,” I told him squeezing his hand. I didn’t want him to pick up a fight with Marcus, that could end up really bad. “Niall, let’s go,” I insisted but I couldn’t make Niall look at me, he was still holding Marcus’ deathly glare.
“He’ll never give you what I gave you, Alex. You know that,” Marcus stated out loud and I rolled my eyes. Seriously, what did I see in him? He was a caveman!
“Of course no,” I said and that got Niall to look at me in shock and Marcus to laugh. “He gives me so much more that you look insignificant at his side. So do yourself a favour and leave, stop humiliating yourself, Marcus.” It was Niall’s turn to laugh and I couldn’t stop my smile. I knew what to say that would kill Marcus’ ego forever. “Plus, Niall is way better in bed that you’ll ever be. I’ve never had the kind of problems I had with you, you know? Do you want me to share them here?”
Niall burst out laughing and so did a few people that were listening to our arguing, which made it even more humiliating for Marcus. Oh, sweet and lovely payback. Marcus was tomato red, a vein was pulsing in his neck and I started to laugh as well. And that got him to turn around and leave us before I could start saying other stuff about him.
Niall was still laughing and I looked at him with all the love in my eyes, that same love that burned inside of me every time I saw him. After all this time together, he could still make me feel like the first time, with all the butterflies and fireworks.

“So that was Marcus, uh?” He commented later when we were in his flat after our day shopping. I liked to go shopping with him because he allowed me to spend how much time I wanted in the electronic department and buying men’s clothes!
“Yeah. I don’t know what I saw in him,” I answered shaking my head. “Maybe I had an aneurism by then and I didn’t know about it,” I suggested and he laughed.
“He’s a complete arsehole.” I nodded in agreement. “Though I’m glad he’s an idiot. He let you go and I could meet you and I’ll always be grateful for having you in my life.”
God, Niall always knew what to say to make me melt in his arms.
“You didn’t feel anything when you saw him, did you?” He asked and I could see the fear in his eyes, the insecurity. I shook my head.
“He’s part of my past but you’re my present and my future.” I answered staring in his eyes, loosely placing my arms around his neck and standing on my tiptoes to brush my nose against his. “All I felt when I saw him is shame for once falling for him and relief that it’s over, that he’s nothing but a memory.”
“I know I’ll never look like him and–”
“Thank goodness ‘cos you wouldn’t look good in a boy band with that look,” I cut him off with laughter in my voice. He smiled at me and I pecked his lips. I needed to put him at ease once and for all. “I love you, Niall. You’re the best thing that had happened to me in my whole life. I don’t want you to look different, I want you just the way you are. You are all what I love, like this.” I peck his lips one more time. “Don’t ever think again that I would like you better if you look something like Marcus, because how you look doesn’t change how I feel about you. Do you understand that?” He didn’t say anything, he only looked at me with insecurity still swirling in his blue eyes. “Would you like me better if I didn’t look like this? Without the tattoos and piercings and all my dark clothes? If I looked like your old girlfriends?”
“Of course no!”
“See?” I told him and he smiled finally understanding. “I love you, Niall Horan. Nothing can change that. Plus, I wasn’t exaggerating,” I added leaning closer to whisper in his ear, “you’re way better in bed.”
He chuckled and hugged me tighter. “Oh really?” I nodded with a cheeky smile playing on my lips. “Well then.” He took my in his arms, bride style, surprising me. “Let’s see if I can improve even more.”
I laughed before he kissed me and started to walk over to his room.
