Lilo: Troublesome children

Louis slowly made it up the stairs from the basement. When he made it up, he saw William sitting on the floor, playing with a truck. Louis put a hand on top of his 8 1/2 month pregnant belly. He felt the twins kick, roll, punch, etc.

"Will, can you please go clean up your toys downstairs?" He asked. William stood up and crossed his arms.

"No," he almost yelled. Louis stopped dead in his tracks. He turned around to face the pouting 7 year old.

"What did you just say to me?" He asked.

"No!" He shouted. It must've scared one of the twins because he felt a kick right on his belly button.

"William James Payne. You go downstairs right now and clean up your toys." Louis was getting really pissed.

"No daddy! I don't want to!" He yelled, stomping his foot.

"I guess I'm going to have to call daddy to come home now...." He trailed off. He started walking towards where his phone was sitting.

William all of a sudden realized that Louis wasn't joking. He ran over to him. "No daddy! Please don't call him! I'll go clean my toys up!"

"I won't if you go downstairs and clean them up right now." Will nodded and ran downstairs. Louis plopped down in the couch and flipped on the tv. There were no good shows on.

All of a sudden there was a crash from downstairs. Louis stood up as fast as he could and walked down the stairs. What he found down there, almost gave him a heart attack. William was laying on the floor, unconscious, his legs and feet under a bookshelf.

"William! Shit," Louis cursed. He speed walked over to where his son was lying. "William? Please say something babe." Nothing. He attempted to lift up the bookshelf. It was just a little too heavy for him considering he was carrying two babies.

He went back up the stairs as fast as he could to call Liam and '999'. He dialed the ambulance first. "Nine nine nine. What's the emergency?"

"Hi my son is stuck under a heavy bookshelf. He fell unconscious and he won't wake up. I tried to lift the shelf up but its too heavy for me," Louis explained.

"Okay what's your address?" Louis gave all the info and hung up. He called Liam right after.

"Liam, meet us at the hospital in five minutes," he said into the phone.

"Why?! Are you in labour, Lou?" He asked.

"No. It's William. He got hurt and the ambulance is on its way. Just meet us there." Without letting Liam talk, he hung up.

He went back downstairs to see if he could get the bookshelf off. No luck. That's when the paramedics and firemen came in.

The firemen lifted the shelf off him with trouble and slid him out. The paramedics took him and put him in the ambulance. Louis watched everything. He got in the truck with the paramedics and William.

As soon as the truck was parked, the doors flung open. They took William inside on the stretcher. Louis got out slower and ended up being too slow. As he was attempting to catch up to the doctors and his son, he saw Liam at the doors, running towards him.

"Louis, what happened?!" He yelled.

"Well, he made a mess downstairs so I told him to go clean the mess up. He said no twice before I convinced him. Then there was a loud crash from down in the basement. I ran down to see his entire bottom half under the fallen bookshelf. He was unconscious. I tried to get him out but the shelf weighed too much. I called the ambulance and here we are now."

"Lou, I'm sorry you had to do that by yourself. I had a feeling I should've stayed home today."

"No it's good you went." Louis brought Liam in for a hug, his huge bump creating a gap.

"Active little babies." Liam put his hands over the place where the twins were kicking.

"Yeah. Probably excited about what just happened. Anyways, should we go in?" Louis asked. Liam smiled and nodded. He put his arm around Louis' waist.

They finally found William's room. They were shocked at the sight in front of them. Will was hooked up to about 10 machines including a breath mask. He was white. Pale as ever. His eyes barely peeking open. He looked terrible.

The two walked over to his bed. "Hi buddy. How are you feeling?" Liam asked.

"My legs hurt," he said just above a whisper.

"Yeah they're gonna hurt for a little while but the doctors are giving you medicine to help make you feel better," Liam said. Louis shifted uncomfortably behind Liam. "Lou, are you alright?"

"Yes I'm fine. They're just causing trouble," he said in a promising tone. Liam gave him a comforting smile before turning back around to face William.

Louis turned around to walk around the hospital room. He looked out the window. He could see beautiful green Irish mountains all around.

Just then he felt a searing pain in his abdomen and water drop from his body through his pants, onto the floor. He doubled over and groaned.

Liam shot up and bolted to where Louis stood. "Babe! Are you okay?"

"No Liam! I'm not okay! My fucking water just broke and you're not helping!" He snapped.

"Alright then let's get you to a room." Liam tried to help Louis up and that's when a nurse came in. She saw what was going on and rushed over.

"What happened here?"

"His water just broke," Liam said. Louis groaned in pain. "Hang in there babe. We're gonna get you to a room."

"I'm gonna get a wheelchair. I'll be right back," the nurse announced. Liam nodded. She stood up and ran out the door. Liam continued to massage Louis' back while he contracted.

The nurse came in a few minutes later with a wheelchair. Both Liam and the nurse helped Louis into the wheelchair.

Louis was put in the laboring tub. One of the nurses checked his dilation. "You are at nine centimeters. Let's get these babies out. Would you prefer bed or tub?"

"The tub please," Louis replied, out of breath.

"Okay." She put on gloves. "On your next contraction, I need you to push."

When Louis felt a contraction, he felt the baby drop as he pushed. He leaned back, panting hard. He pushed again, feeling the head almost leave his body.

He yelled in pain. He pushed once again, letting the baby's head to slip out. By now, Louis was panting like crazy. "You're doing fantastic, love. Give us another just like that."

Louis bared down again, feeling the baby's shoulders slip out. He gave one more slight push, releasing the baby into the nurse's arms. "It's a girl!"

The nurse handed the baby to Louis. He placed her just in front of his still enormous bump. "Hi baby girl."

She let out a gurgled cry. "Dad, wanna cut the cord?" The nurse asked. Liam nodded fiercely. She clamped her cord and handed him scissors. "Here you go."

He cut it gently, making her scream even more. One of the nurses took her away when Louis said he felt another contraction. "It looks like the second baby's breech. All you have to do is push and we'll take care of the rest."

He nodded and got back in position to push the second baby out. Liam grabbed hold of his hand and squeezed it. "You can do this baby."

"It just hurts like hell," he whined. He felt the baby drop like crazy, making it hurt even more. "I can't do this! I just want it out!"

"You can do this, Louis. All you have to do is push that little one out then you're done!"

"It's not that easy, Liam! I can't believe I let you do this to me." He felt a contraction his so he pushed. "Ow ow ow ow!"

A few pushes, many screams, profanity to Liam, and much more later, the baby's legs were out.

"Just get this thing out of me!" Louis screamed. "I can't do this anymore!"

He pushed and screamed again, allowing the baby's body out. He continued pushing until it's shoulders were out. He took a break before pushing the baby's head out.

The nurse caught the baby and announced, "Another girl!" This baby was covered in blood so before Louis or Liam held her, they had to clean her off.

Louis delivered the placenta then was left alone in the room with Liam. "You did fantastic, love. I'm so proud of you." Liam leaned over and kissed Louis' sweaty forehead.

Louis got help getting out of the tub. He dried off before exiting to see the new additions. Liam helped Louis into the bed. The nurse handed one baby to Louis and one to Liam. Liam had the one born first while Louis had the one born second.

"Hi little one," Louis whispered to the baby. "We need name a for you and your sister."

"I had the idea for one of them," Liam spoke.

"Oh what is it?"

"Leah. I've always liked that name so I thought why not name our daughter that. I was thinking about Leah Marie Payne."

"I love it," Louis agreed. "Now we need a name for this one."

Liam stayed silent. "What about Kayla Madison?" Louis asked.

"That's perfect," Liam agreed. "Baby Kayla and Leah."

"Our little girls."

"We need to see William. The last thing he saw was you yelling at me and us leaving in a hurry. He's probably a little traumatized," Liam spoke.

"Poor kid. Everything for him has been so traumatizing in the past day. It's four in the afternoon and he's been hospitalized while watching his dad go into labor," Louis agreed.

"Let's go see him then," Liam said before tuning to the nurse and asking, "Would we be able to leave the room to go see our son?"

"Is he staying here somewhere?"

"Yeah he's in the ICU."

"Well, you can't bring babies into the ICU but if you want, you can leave them in here with a grandparent or something, go see him, then come back."

"Sounds good. I'll call my mum and your mum to come watch them and see them while we go see Will." Liam turned back to face Louis.

"I like that plan."

*~ Hours later ~*

"Thanks for doing this, mum," Louissaid to Jay.

"Louis, it's absolutely no problem. It's never hard to come see my grandchildren."

"Okay. Thank you too Karen."

"It's no problem, Lou. I wanted to see them when they were born anyways."

"Okay good. Let's go Liam." The two linked arms and waved to their mums.

They walked in the door of William's room. He was sitting up partially. He still was quite pale and his eyes weren't open all the way. But, as soon as Liam and Louis walked in, his eyes opened all the way.

"Daddy?" He asked, a little excitement in his voice.

"Hi buddy," Liam spoke. "How are you feeling?"

"Better. My legs still hurt though."

"Yeah I know. They're gonna hurt for a while but then they'll get better. I promise."

"I know. Why is daddy's tummy not big anymore?" He looked super confused.

"It's because the babies are here now. The babies came out of my tummy a few hours ago," Louis explained.

"Do I have a sister?" Louis and Liam decided not to find out the twins gender until they were born. William was dying for a sister so when he found out that he wouldn't know until they were born, he hoped for a sister every day.

"Yes. You actually have two sisters," Louis started. Will smiled.

"Can I see them?"

"When you come out of the ICU of course you can. Babies can't come in here. But it looks like, just judging about what your info says, you'll be able to meet them tomorrow. We're glad you're feeling better buddy," Liam said.

"Okay. I love you daddies."

"We love you too William."
