Chapter 1: Operation: Dead Dog

A/n: Sorry for sensitive title. There will be sensitive content.

(??? POV):

I looked over the new additions to Team Rainbow. None of them posed any serious threat to my operation. Then I came across the last one.

'Operator 000: Heaven's Reaper'

A small smile formed on my lips. That name brought back old memories. However, they quickly went away, when I began to cough madly. Finally, I stopped after inhaling medicine. I growled at my disability now. It was from (Y/n).

"Let's play a game, (Y/n). How many will fall before you break?"

Timeskip brought to you by Twitch drone not jumping...

Operation: Dead Dog

Objective: Eliminate all hostiles. Rescue the prime minister and his family.

Details:

-3 story mansion

-over 100 hostiles

-family and prime minister separated

-no collateral damage

-Team Leader: Ash

-Team: Bandit, IQ, Montagne, Ying, Frost

Back-up: Doc, Heaven's Reaper

Mission status: active

(Ash POV):

Anxiety filled my body. This was the first time I was leading a team. I figured Six would go with someone older and more experienced. However, she said she believed in me. I guess I can't let her or my team down. Suddenly, I felt a heavy hand on my shoulder. I looked to see Gilles (Montagne).

Montagne:"Do not worry. You will be good leader."

He states in a heavy French accent.

"Do you have any tips?"

Montagne:"Perhaps getting the team to open up to each other will improve chemistry."

I nodded at the suggestion. It would be like me and the other FBI-SWAT operators. I turned to face my team.

"Hey, everyone. I would like for us to get to know each other. To improve team morale."

The other operators glanced at each other.

"I guess I'll start first. Eliza. FBI. I am a transfer from Israel."

Frost:"Tina. JTF2. I'm a skilled trapper."

Ying:"Siu. SDU. Trained in Israel as well."

IQ:"Monika. GSG9. Attended an Ivy league university."

Montagne:"Gilles. GIGN. Still alive and kicking."

Doc:"Gustave. GIGN. My skills are better on the field."

Then we all turned to Bandit.

Bandit:"Dominic. GSG9. I used to deal drugs."

I raised an eyebrow. That was an interesting way to introduce oneself. Finally, in a far corner, sat Reaper all alone. No one could tell what his expression was, due to his helmet.

"What about you, Reaper?"

I didn't know his name. No one did. He glance over at us. Then he stood up and walked away.

Ying:"Well then. Not very talkative."

IQ:"Dominic, you're just like him."

Bandit scoffed.

Frost:"I wonder why he's the only one without a file."

Montagne:"Maybe some things are meant to stay hidden."

Doc:"Yes, but it is very difficult to trust someone you don't know anything about."

I thought to myself.

'What are you hiding, Six and Reaper?'

Then my watch beeped. It was showtime.

"Alright everyone. Touchdown in five minutes."

Everyone nodded and prepared their gear. I swung my launcher over my shoulder and held my rifle. My heart beat rapidly, as the helicopter began to descend. Finally, the helicopter landed, and we all stepped out. Doc rushed over to me.

Doc:"I'll be waiting with Reaper. If any of you need help, radio it in."

"Got it."

Doc then turned around and walked back to the chopper. I then ran back to my team.

"Okay everyone. You know the plan. Let's move!"

My team nodded, and we headed to our positions. Bandit, Ying, and I will be rescuing the Prime minister, while Montagne, IQ, and Frost are rescuing the family. My team rushed over to the door. I checked the door knob. It was unlocked. After silently pushing it open, I entered the building. The place was massive.

"Cover me, while I drone the place out."

Bandit and Ying nodded. I pulled out my phone, and drove the drone around. First floor looked clear. Then my drone suddenly went static, when it reached second floor. I let out a sigh of frustration.

"They've got jammers on the second floor. We'll lose comms when we reach there."

Then Montagne came onto the comms.

Montagne:"There are jammers at my location."

"I guess we'll go with the surprise attack. Get ready to rush through second floor."

Montagne:"Copy."

My teammates and I advanced to the stairs.

"On my mark."

My teammates readied their weapons.

"3. 2. 1. Ma-"

Suddenly, a loud scream erupted through the whole mansion. I looked at my companions confused.

Ying:"What was that?"

IQ:"Did you hear that?"

Tina:"Sounded like a scream."

Then more screams began to fill the mansion. Something was going on.

"New plan. Slowly advance through. We don't know what's going on."

Montagne:"Copy."

My group and I walked up to the second story. Everything was eerily quiet. My eyes darted around every corner near me and ahead. Only the sound of muffled footsteps could be heard. Once again, more screams filled the air. I motioned for my group to move quickly. We headed towards the source of the screaming.

'Who is screaming? And why?'

My team finally reached the room that the screaming we're coming from.

"Ying. Flash that room."

Ying nodded and set her flashing charge. She pressed the trigger, and several flash-bangs were sent into the room. The flashes went off, and Bandit kicked open the door. It revealed a tied and blindfolded Prime Minister, screaming at the top of his lungs.

We checked the room, and there were no hostiles. Ones alive at least. Ten dead men lied on the ground in pools of blood. I rushed over to the Prime Minister.

"Are you alright?"

Prime Minister:"Why did you flash the room, while I was in here?!"

"Sorry sir. We didn't know if there were any hostiles."

Prime Minister:"Are you all stupid? One of your guys executed all of these terrorists and left me!"

Confusion filled my head.

'Who did this?'

Bandit:"Ash. Each hostile was stabbed at the jugular. Instant death."

I nodded.

"Ying. Escort the Prime Minister out. Bandit, cover her."

Ying:"What about you?"

Prime Minister:"What about my family?"

"I can take care of myself, and I'll make sure your family gets out."

Prime Minister:"You better! Or I'll have you killed like these men!"

Bandit:"Okay. Let's go."

He grabbed the Prime Minister and carried him out.

Prime Minister:"Unhand me you Nazi fuck!"

Bandit knocked him out and proceeded out with Ying. I continued in the direction of the family. This time, I didn't bother hiding my sound. Someone was already picking off these terrorists. My teammates could be in danger. Suddenly, I heard a loud explosion and sprinted. Sounds of gunfire filled the top floor. I held my rifle up, ready for any enemy. Soon, I heard yelling from a familiar voice.

IQ:"Frost!"

Her tone was fear. Something happened to her. I ran around the corner, and saw Frost pinned at a narrow wall. Bullets hit next to her, and her side was bleeding badly. I began to open fire on the enemy. Soon, their attention shifted towards me. I had to duck at another wall to avoid being shredded by bullets. I pressed on my comm.

"Someone, talk to me!"

IQ:"We're pinned! Frost is bleeding out. The terrorists are all surrounding the family. No way in!"

"How many?"

IQ:"About thirty."

My eyes widened.

"How many did you all take down?"

IQ:"Only a few. Along the way, we found bodies everywhere. They were all killed silently."

The same was for the Prime Minister.

IQ:"Who's doing all this?"

"I don't know, but we need to get Frost out! Doc!"

Doc:"Yes, Ash?"

"We need back-up!"

Doc:"I'm on my way."

"What about Reaper?"

Doc:"He went off somewhere. I tried to call it in, but your comms were jammed."

I grit my teeth. What was Reaper doing now?

Suddenly, I heard the sound of a fifty caliber sniper go off. Following it, was the sound of flesh being torn apart. The terrorist began shouting in fear. Then several more shots rang out. I took this opportunity to rush at Frost. Along the way, the sounds of gunfire seemed to drop, as more shots from the sniper ensued. I reached Frost, and began to apply pressure onto her wound.

"You're going to make it."

She nodded, while wincing in pain.

IQ:"Montagne and I are pushing forward!"

"Copy! Can you handle yourself?"

Frost nodded, and I sprinted over to IQ and Montagne. I loaded a round into my launcher.

"Breach!"

I fired the shell. It hit the wall, and exploded. Then another sniper shot went off. I watched as the bullet rip through five terrorist's heads. One even came cleanly off.

IQ:"Is this sniper friendly?"

Montagne:"Look out!"

I saw a terrorist running towards us with a C4. Before I could pull the trigger, the terrorist's hand exploded. The sniper shot his hand off. He cried out in pain, and I ended his life. The three of us slowly entered the room. The sniper had stopped firing.

Montagne:"Stay behind me. We don't know if we're clear."

IQ and I nodded, and we walked behind his shield. In the far corner, the Prime Minister's family were huddled up. When we were away from windows, I ran over to the family.

"I'm with the military. We're getting you out."

The Prime Minister's wife looked at me in fear.

Wife:"I-Is my husband alive?"

"Yes. I'll take you and your kids to him."

Relief filled her face. She helped her kids up, and followed us out. We went in another direction, clear of the windows.

Doc:"I've got Frost. We're heading out."

"Got it. Any visual on the sniper?"

Ying:"Negative. Bandit and I scouted the area. No trace of the sniper, just bullet casings."

'Crap. We got a loose sniper on our hands.'

"Montagne, you take point. IQ and I will follow behind the hostages."

My team nodded, and we proceeded to the exit.
The children were whimpering in fear, and their mother was trying her best to comfort them.

Wife:"Hush, dear. It'll be okay."

She then turned to me.

Wife:"We must hurry! The terrorists have a bomb set up here. It will blow up the whole property."

My eyes widened. We didn't come prepared for a bomb defusal.

"How much time?"

Wife:"About ten minutes. It's in the maintenance room."

"Montagne. Take these hostages to safety. IQ and I will defuse the bomb. Get ready for a quick getaway."

Montagne nodded. He led the family out, while IQ and I headed for the bombs.

"I hope your bomb defusal skills are still sharp."

IQ:"As long as it's not the highest tech. I should have no problem."

We arrived to the maintenance room. I gently pushed the door, but IQ cried out.

IQ:"Wait!"

I head something unclip. Then a large explosion sent IQ and I flying backwards. I landed on my side groaning in pain. Near me was IQ, she was bleeding from her leg, but was still awake.

"IQ, talk to me."

IQ:"I can't move my legs."

I tried to get up, but the pain was too great. I looked down to see my legs were crushed by a metal door.

"Crap. That wasn't the bomb, right?"

She flipped open her scanner.

IQ:"No, but I can shoot the repeater from here. It will stop the bomb from detonating the whole area, but we'll still need to get out of the mansion."

"Better than nothing."

IQ weakly aimed her pistol. Before she could pull the trigger, her gun was kicked away by a terrorist. He then pressed his foot on her legs, making her scream in pain. I tried to reach for a pistol lying on the side, but another foot stepped on my hand. I screamed in pain and looked up to see a terrorist aiming his weapon on me.

Terrorist:"What do you think you're-"

He was cut off when the other terrorist was shot in the head. IQ was freed from her tormentor. The terrorist aiming at me looked for the source of the shot.

Terrorist:"Show yourself!"

Suddenly, Reaper appeared behind the terrorist, and stabbed him through the throat. The terrorist gurgled on his own blood before dying. Reaper put away his knife, and pulled out his gun. He shot something near the bomb. IQ brought out her scanner again, and her eyes widened.

IQ:"How did you-"

She was cut off when Reaper hoisted her up. He set her over his shoulders, and walked over to me. Then Reaper removed the door wth ease, lifted me up, and set me over his other shoulder.

"What are you doing?"

He didn't respond, and began running out of the mansion. A blush began to form on my cheeks. Reaper's hand was grasping tightly right below my butt. I looked to see IQ blushing as well. Reaper would have lost his hand if it weren't for the fact that he was saving our butts. He carried us out of the mansion, and I felt the gusts from the helicopter's blades spinning.

Ying:"Over here, Reaper!"

We enetered the Chinook, and Reaper set us both down onto stretchers.

Bandit:"Pilot, move!"

The engine began to whirr louder, and the helicopter began to take us away. The mansion exploded brightly. I looked over to see Doc helping Frost.

Doc:"Reaper? Do you have any medical experience?"

Reaper didn't answer. Instead, he picked up some medical supplies and tools. Then he sat in between IQ and I. Reaper began to treat my wounds, but I stopped him.

"Help IQ first, she's more injured."

Reaper stared at me for a second. Then he stabbed a syringe into my arm, and I felt a lot of the pain become alleviated. After that, Reaper flicked my knee, and my leg jumped a little. I could still move my legs. Then he attended to IQ. I watched him, as he draped a blanket over IQ's legs.

IQ:"What are you doing?"

Reaper placed his hand under the blanket, and the sound of tearing jeans was heard. IQ began blushing.

IQ:"S-Stop-"

He injected a syringe into IQ's arm. She leaned back weakly.

IQ:"Hey...stop..."

Doc:"It's okay."

Reaper then put his hand under the blanket again. I heard the clinking of metal tweezers and scissors. Doc watched Reaper operate on IQ in surprise. After a few minutes, Reaper's hand came from under the blanket. He placed down a tray full of shrapnel wiped his bloodied hands. Then he stood up and walked away. I reached out and grabbed his arm. He looked down on me.

"Thank you."

I let go, and he walked away. Suddenly, IQ weakly spoke.

IQ:"What did he do?"

Doc went over and checked under the blanket shortly.

Doc:"Briefly inspecting this, he most likely saved your ability to walk."

My eyes widened in shock. He operated without even looking under the blanket.

IQ:"How did he operate with out peeking."

IQ blushed saying the last part.

Doc:"I would believe it has something to do with Reaper's helmet, but it would still require immense medical experience."

Reaper keeps getting more interesting by the minute.

IQ:"I didn't get to tell him thanks."

"Don't worry. I'm sure you can tell him later."

IQ nodded.

Doc:"You two should get some rest. It's quite a bit before we reach base."

IQ and I lied down. Before I closed my eyes, I looked over at Reaper. He sat away from us silently. Why does he exclude himself from all of us? Then I finally closed my eyes and went to sleep.

Timeskip brought to you by chibi (Y/n) poking people with syringes...

(Y/n) POV:

BAM!

The sound of my rifle went off. Then a buzzer went off to indicate I hit the target.

BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!

I fired my weapon in rapid succession. The buzzer went off six times. All of my bullets hit their mark. I removed the empty clip and packed up my gun. After I finished, I began walking out of the gun range. At the doorway stood Valkyrie and Blackbeard.

Valkyrie:"How did he hit the target 1km away, in the bulls-eye, in continuous fire? Was there no recoil?"

Blackbeard:"There was recoil. That rifle was a fifty cal."

I kept moving, until the Spetznaz sniper stopped me.

Glaz:"Comrade, where did you learn to shoot like that?"

I didn't answer and pushed past him. Walking through the base, there were operators along the way. When they saw me, they stopped whatever they were doing to stare at me.

Dokkaebi:"Is he a demon?"

Vigil:"You've been watching too many cartoons."

Castle:"So that's the guy that saved Ash."

Pulse:"Hmm."

Jager:"He saved IQ too."

Blitz:"Really?"

Montagne:"He is a very courageous person."

Twitch:"More creepy to me."

Then a familiar operator stopped me on my tracks. Mike(Thatcher).

Thatcher:"Where are ye headin off to, mate?"

I stared at him silently, before continuing to walk.

Thatcher:"You can't hide behind a helmet forever, mate."

This made me stop for a second, but I quickly resumed walking again. I headed to my room and changed into my other uniform. Afterwards, I walked over to the gym. There I saw Eliza(Ash), Monika (IQ), and Tina(Frost) currently under physical therapy. It was mandatory after an injury. They seemed to be recovering quickly a week or two. Suddenly, I heard someone step beside me.

Six:"They seem to be recovering well."

I remained silent.

Six:"Of course you would know, you've been watching them ever since they arrived back at base."

'Spying on me, I see.'

Six:"I just wanted to notify you, that Operation: Dead Dog was a...success."

She strained saying the last part. I knew exactly why.

Flashback...

I was currently sitting in front of Six's desk.

Six:"You are aware that I assigned you as back-up for the operation, correct?"

I silently nodded.

Six:"Well, that's only to hide your true objective."

She pressed a button and multiple images appeared on a screen in front of us. They were pictures of mauled, mutilated, and dead civilians. Young women and little children popped up the most. Then more images popped up. There were dogs that looked feral, insane, deranged. They were attacking the civilians and were being tortured. My eye twitched at the sight.

Six:"What you see, is the underground project of the White Masks. The group of terrorists that hold the Prime Minister has been working on this. Attack dogs made only to kill. They're being sold on the black market for hefty prices due to their unrelenting attacks. These dogs don't stop until they are dead. Now you must eliminate this because we cannot have these weapons going around, and it funds the White Mask."

I nodded.

Six:"Alright then. When primary team deploys. You go take care of this. Along the way, eliminate any hostiles, and the weapons are in the basement. Dismissed."

I stood up and headed for the helicopter. Along the way to the location, Ash tried to bond the team. However, details of my secret mission were running through my heads. Ash wanted to speak with me, but I left to gather my own thoughts. After the team began their mission, I started mine. I quickly tried the basement doors, but they were locked with reinforced steel. Then I headed through the second story. Might as well eliminate most of the hostiles before my teammates arrive. Luckily, the terrorists were all amateurs. I silently stabbed my knife through each of their throats. No one ever noticed. Then the other terrorists finally found my trail of death. Most of them went to one side of the mansion to guard the family, while the others tried to use reverse psychology.

Terrorist:"They'll never expect it if we put fewer men with the prime hostage!"

'I wouldn't, but you announced your plan to me.'

I followed the idiots to one of the rooms. Without them noticing, I executed each and every one of them.

Prime Minister:"Who's there? Help me!"

I decided to leave him to Ash. Afterwards, I made my way down to the basement. It was extremely silent the whole time. My guess is that the terrorists all went to watch the hostages and not their products. My helmet did a scan and many indicators of explosives popped up. I rolled an emp grenade into the basement. I heard everything electrical shut down. My night-vision activate, and I entered the basement. Around me were boxes and old miscellaneous junk. Eventually, my path led me to a reinforced steel door. I set small C4 charges onto the locks and stepped aside. The explosives went off and sounds of the door unlocking filled the basement. I opened the door, and in front of me was horrifying. The images did no justice to what was actually in front of me. Littered all over the place was dead bodies. Most of them were unrecognizable. A limb here, an organ there, and maybe a torso here. I had to take some deep breaths to focus. I continued through the room and arrived at the cages. There was no one in the room, so I activated my headlamp. Immediately, I shut my eyes.

'How can humans do this?'

I reopened them to see clearly. The women and children. I could only assume they were women and children because of some toys and clothes. Nothing about their bodies were human anymore. Suddenly, I heard a weak moan coming from inside the cage. I readied my weapon and looked to see a survivor. Immediately, I opened the cage and rushed in. She leaned against the wall with her eyes closed. I crouched by her side.

"Hey. I'm here to help."

The lady opened one eye. It was bruised and yellow puss filled her eye.

Lady:"Help?"

"Yes. Let me-"

I cut off after looking down. Her entire lower body is missing, and most of her lower torso is shredded.

Lady:"Please help me."

"Don't worry. I will."

Lady:"P-Please kill me."

My eyes widened.

"What?"

Lady:"Please...end this pain..."

I removed my helmet and looked at her.

"No. You're going to get out of this."

Lady:"Let me...be with my family..."

I looked down, and saw her weakly stroking part of a head.

"I-Is that your daughter?"

Lady:"Yes..."

I had to fight back my sick feeling.

Lady:"Please...if you want to help...help me die. I want to be with my husband and daughter."

I slowly stood up and pulled out my pistol. Then I aimed it at her head.

Lady:"Thank you."

She weakly smiled. A tear fell down my face, and I pulled the trigger. The shell casing clinked on the floor. Tears continued to roll down my cheek. Suddenly, loud vicious barking began to fill the entire basement. I put on my helmet and left the cage. The barks got louder, as I approached the dogs. When they came into view, they tried to lunge at me. However, they were stuck in cages themselves. I gritted my teeth in anger and aimed my rifle. My finger pulled the trigger. I unloaded every single bullet of my magazine into those monsters. Then my gun clicked empty. I reloaded and kept shooting. I repeated the process over and over. Then roars of anger escaped my mouth. I screamed at the top of my lungs, while blasting their dead corpses. Finally, my rifle clicked empty. I breathed heavily, while staring at the dead dogs and people. My rifle dropped to the ground. I quickly removed my helmet and began to vomit. Eventually, my stomach was completely empty. I cleaned myself up and refastened my helmet. Then I downloaded all of the information available, but heard a lot of gunfire. My USB read complete, and I removed it before running upstairs. Ash suddenly yelled into the comms.

Ash:"We need back-up!"

I knew what to do. My legs moved faster, and before I knew it, I was outside. Doc had gone into the mansion to help Frost. I grabbed my sniper rifle and went to set up. With my rifle locked and loaded, I pulled the trigger. One by one, every terrorist died. After I finished, I quickly ran back into the mansion to help with extraction when Ash's voice came onto the comms again.

Ash:"Montagne is leaving with the hostages. IQ and I will defuse the bomb in the maintenance room."

I made my way there. Then an explosion went off.

'Noo...'

My heart beat rapidly, as I continued to the source of the explosion. There I saw two terrorists, and my team at gunpoint. I pulled out my pistol and shot the one hurting IQ. Before the other could see where I was, I disappeared.

Terrorist:"Show yourself!"

I appeared behind him and stabbed him through the throat. He fell to the ground dead. Then I shot the repeater to minimize the explosion.

IQ:"How did you-"

I didn't let her finish and picked her up. Then I helped Ash and carried the two ladies out of the mansion. Once we boarded the helicopter, we made our way back to base. I helped the ladies much to IQ's protest. Then I left the two to be alone. I sat back in my corners to think about what I saw. Every time my eyes closed, the image of what happened in that basement kept showing.

Flashback end...

Six:"What those monsters did. That's why we're fighting them. To stop all this."

I ignored her attempts to convince me.

Six:"Look. I know you've been through-"

I didn't give her a chance to finish, as I walked away. The things I've done haunt me to this day. No point on trying to convince that what I'm doing is good. Nothing can change the fact that I pulled those triggers.

IQ POV:

I watched Reaper storm away, while Six was talking to him. She just sighed sadly and walked away.

Ash:"What do you think happened?"

"I don't know. Should we ask?"

Ash:"It's not in our position to ask."

Frost:"Well I am curious to where Reaper went when we needed him."

We all nodded in agreement.

"I think Six is obligated to give us answers. We can't keep fighting with an uncertainty."

Ash:"I guess it would be more convincing if we gathered everyone to support."

Frost:"Let's get to it then."

The three of us split up to gather everyone. After a few minutes, we had all of the operators in the meeting room. Suddenly, Six walked in and looked surprised to see us.

Six:"May I ask why you all have gathered here?"

"Who's Reaper?"

Six raised an eyebrow.

Six:"That's for me to know, and you all to stay hidden from."

Thatcher:"That's not going to work. I'm not going into a life or death situation with someone I don't trust."

Six:"Do you trust everyone here?"

Thatcher:"No, but I know something about them. Reaper is a complete mystery to me."

Six:"Then he will stay a mystery."

She began to leave, but I spoke up.

"Then I resign."

She froze and slowly faced me.

Six:"Excuse me?"

"I want to serve and protect people, but it will cut short if I lose my life because of a loose end."

Six:"I seem to recall that Reaper saved your life."

Capitao:"What about everyone else?"

Six:"I believe he would do the same for all of you."

Montagne:"At least tell us why he disappeared during the mission. We needed his back-up."

Six:"He did back you up."

Ash:"How?"

Six:"Who did you think the sniper was? A terrorist?"

We went silent. It made sense if it was Reaper.

Doc:"That doesn't explain the fact that he disappeared from the start. I'm sure finding a sniping position takes time, but he left without a single word."

Six:"You all should know that Reaper doesn't talk."

Vigil:"Which is a serious liability in teamwork. If he doesn't call out the enemies, we're dead."

Six:"The enemies will be dead before he needs to call them out."

Glaz:"No one is that good."

Six:"Trust me. He's that good."

Hibana:"Well we don't trust you."

Six:"Fine, but I still won't say anything, and I'll have your resignation papers ready, IQ."

She then left the room. Everyone was silent.

"Well then. I'm going to get packed."

Jager:"You can't leave!"

"I said, I'll resign."

I left the room before any more protests could come. I'll just return to the GSG9 again, so I can still pursue helping people. Just not dealing with White Masks. I walked around the corner and saw Reaper. He was walking out of the base. Since I wasn't going to be around anymore, screw the regulations. Reaper continued out of the base, while I followed him. We went through the forest for an hour or two. I didn't realize the place looked really nice. When my attention returned to Reaper, he was gone! I looked around frantically.

'Where could he have gone? It was less than a second.'

I continued wandering through the forest. Suddenly, my feet couldn't feel the ground anymore. I fell forward and saw a drop off.

"Ahh!"

I shut my eyes awaiting my death, but it never came. My eyelids slowly opened, and I was still in the same spot. I then turned my neck to see Reaper holding onto my hoodie. He pulled me back gently, and I sat on the ground gathering myself. Then I looked up to see Reaper standing there with his hands in his pockets.

"Uhh. Hi?"

He didn't say anything.

"Thanks for saving me. I would've been dead there."

Reaper remained silent. I stood up and faced him. He was slightly taller than me, so I had to tilt my head up a little.

"Do you ever talk? At all?"

Reaper didn't say anything. I let out a sigh.

"Well. I'm just-"

I cut off because Reaper just walked away. A little anger built up inside of me.

"Hey! I'm trying to talk to you."

He kept walking, so I chased after him. I would ever so often call out to him, but he gave me the same response. Nothing. A while passed, and he finally stopped again. It felt like we hike a mountain. I began to have trouble breathing from the altitude. Plus it was cold.

"Hey...do you always walk this far?"

He didn't respond and just sat on a cliffs edge. I walked over and sat beside him. His helmet hid everything, but it faced forward. I looked to see what he was staring at. Impressed was the least to say. This place sure had a killer sunset.

"I get it now."

We sat in silence, while watching the sun set. Soon the air became shallower and colder. It was these times that I wished for a full uniform. My teeth chattered from the cold, and I frantically rubbed my arms. My vision began to darken from the lack of air. Suddenly, I felt a large jacket drape over me. I looked to see Reaper give his jacket to me. Then he removed my helmet. The only source of warmth for my head. My hair waved freely in the wind.

"Hey! I needed that-"

I cut off when Reaper began to unfasten his helmet. My eyes widened in curiosity. However, it disappeared when he revealed a balaclava and sunglasses. Reaper then set his helmet over my head. The screens blinked to life and a display turned on.

Helmet:"New user: Monika Weiss. Aka: IQ. User suffering from: Hypothermia risk and Suffocation. Activating heater and air pressurizing."

The helmet hissed, and I began to breathe normally again. Then the helmet warmed up a little, and it was like bliss. The feeling went away quickly, when I remembered this was Reaper's gear.

"Wait. Don't you need this?"

Again, silence. This frustrated me. His actions really contradicted his personality. He saves me, treats my wounds, watches over me while I recover, saves my life again, and lends me his gear. Then he goes and gives me the silent treatment.

"Why don't you answer me? I just want to thank you for everything, but you don't respond."

He just looked away. I stood up and removed the helmet and his jacket. Then I threw them onto the ground next to him.

"Maybe Six was right. Anything about you should stay hidden because this is who you are."

Reaper stared at me. Then I turned around and walked away. If he didn't want to talk. Fine. I won't bother talking to him. After a few hours of walking, a snow storm began to brew. I shivered uncontrollably.

'Maybe I should have kept the jacket.'

The snow storm became a blizzard. I'd get snow back in Germany, but never as bad as this. I slowly felt my consciousness falter. Hypothermia was kicking in, and I had to find shelter. However, there were no caves around. The best option was a ditch with trees to shield most of the wind. I sat in the ditch trying to stay awake. My body decided to fail me, and I drifted into darkness.

(Y/n) POV:

I followed Monika because there was a blizzard coming. It only took a few minutes to know she was lost. So I decided to keep track of her. Eventually, the blizzard came around. Monika was going to suffer from hypothermia, so I hurried to her. She sat in a ditch and fell asleep. I shook her gently and only got mumbles.

IQ:"Mama...no more spinach..."

A small smile formed on my face. I put my jacket onto her. Then I replaced her helmet with my. The system automatically began to warm her body up. Perks of being a soldier for the impossible. I then picked her up, and carried her in my arms. Afterward, I headed back to base through the storm.

When I arrived, everyone seemed to be asleep. I carried Monika to her room and set her down. Then I removed my helmet, but left my jacket.

IQ:"I don't wanna go to school..."

She mumbled in her sleep cutely. I was about to leave, but felt her grab my hand subconsciously.

IQ:"Don't leave...Reaper...don't leave..."

I raised an eyebrow. Was she actually sleeping. I quickly checked, and she was. So I sat down next to her bed, while she held onto my hand.

IQ:"Can you tell me your name...before I leave..."

'She's leaving?'

I glanced at her nightstand. There sat her resignation papers. I wondered why she was leaving. Then a possible idea hit me. Ignoring regulations to follow me, trying to get me to talk, mentioning Six and my hidden past. Monika might have stuck her nose too far. Then I finally noticed she let go. Monika was sleeping normally now. I stood up and walked to the door. Before leaving, I looked back at her sleeping body.

"It's (Y/n)."

I whispered, then closed the door and left.
