CHAPTER SIX

The rain poured hard on the road making it difficult for motorist's visibility. A cab stopped by a cemetery, and a young woman alighted from it clutching her raincoat tightly against her body as she walked towards the cemetery. Some tombstones were beautifully lined with flowers while moss thrived on others; seems like the gardener wasn't doing his job well.

The figure got to the tombstone with the picture of a girl engraved on it and stopped. Retrieving the bouquet of rose flowers she had hidden in her jacket, she bent down and dropped it. By now, the intensity of the rain has reduced greatly and the rain fell in drizzles.

The lady standing in front of the tomb was relatively in her thirties and with a tall figure; satisfying for the height of a woman. From afar, one could spot her chestnut brown hair peeking out of her raincoat. As she gazed on the picture of the girl on the tombstone, tears welled up in her eyes.

"Today is Justin's birthday.... I'm sure you would have loved to be by his side and share in his happiness", she sobbed and continued.

"I hope you are resting in peace now because your baby is in good hands. Say hello to Papa and Mama for me, tell them I really miss them. Will you?" She asked awaiting a response as if there was someone standing to offer her one.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket pulling her gaze away from the tombstone to the caller ID.

"Hey sweetheart, I've just finished my shift so I want us to hangout. Where are you?" The voice at the other end asked cheerfully.

"I went for a little stroll in town. Where is the location?"

"Your favorite restaurant dear.... Why don't I come to pick you up?"

"No need for that babe, I'll catch up with you in a few minutes" she replied and the call ended.

Placing the phone back in her pocket, she faced the tombstone.

"That was Stefan Rivers, we've been dating for three months now and I think he is awesome. We have a date now", she paused. "I'll bring him on my next visit, hope you guys will like him. I want to start a new life with him."

"Bye my dear.... rest in peace." She arranged her flowers and left the cemetery immediately, the sky had turned brighter a little and people were seen paying homage to their deceased loved ones. On getting to the sidewalk, she stopped a taxi and got in.

"No 77 Boleuve street", she told the driver as he drove off.

X.X.X

Flight 225 from Juàrez was due to land by 10:15am. Stacy sat with Sara trying to bring her jumble of emotions under control. This day was a momentous one for her, and her feelings were as buoyant as a hot balloon that could suddenly burst. Would her son be the the same? Not in appearance- eighteen years had passed. She felt shaky and had lost a few pounds.

"I'm so damned anxious. How do I look?"

"Better than candy", Sara replied in her tiny voice.

"I want him to recognize me", Stacy said quickly.

Sara raised her eyebrows and frowned.   "Mum, you don't have to be extra dramatic. He will know you, all right".

Sara glanced over at the arrival board. "Time for a little stroll. That is Dad's plane landing now".

The big domestic plane was taxing into position, and people began to stream out from the terminal building to welcome family and friends. There was no sign of her husband or hey son.

"He won't be long now", Sara whispered and rested her head on her mum's shoulder.

Stacy's eyes began to sting and she swallowed hard. Memories surged back, strong and sweet.  A tall man with dark hair that gleamed in the sunlight suddenly appeared at the rear door of the aircraft but her eyes was on the person that followed behind him. His thick, long, wavy hair was very dark but under the lights shone with the reddish glint of mahogany. He was dressed in a jean and Navy T-shirt. Her breath seemed to stop in her throat. She was aching with love; her son was growing into a young ravishing stunning man.

"Mum!" Cedric shouted and halted in his tracks at the sight of his mum, his cry filled with heart-wrenching emotions.

"Cedric!" She went into his arms with a feeling of joy, of completion, so absolute that just for a moment it was agony. She was beyond words and so was he. Touching was all that mattered, feeling their arms around each other. The pain of the lost years was almost worth this moment.

His mother lifted her head first, her green eyes unashamedly shining with tears.

"My handsome boy, my little angel, I'd have known you anywhere. You haven't changed at all". Stacey laughed shakily and Cedric laughed too.

The clearing of the throat and the voice close by spoke up.

"Don't I deserve to be welcomed too?" Alvin braced his chest forward and pretended to have an offended look on his face as he stood beside Cedric.

Although Cedric hair wasn't purely black, anyone that started at the two figures standing together could see that Cedric had inherited Alvin's warm Olive skin and the nose; that nose was a trait that ran in the family, even Sara possessed the same shape of nose. Stacy couldn't help smiling as she gazed at the two. She was too overjoyed about her son's presence that she forgot her husband was also there.

"Dad, it's obvious the two are catching up and we're being neglected so let's head out and leave them", Sara spoke up.

"How can I forget my little fairy?" Cedric asked amusingly as he carried Sara in his arms.

"C'mon put me down, I am a celebrity and this is embarrassing", Sara teased and did a fake struggle.

"You're still my little doll so quit the drama", he chuckled.

Meanwhile some reporters and fans who were in the airport noticed the loving family and went crazy. They ran up to them demanding autographs.

Isn't that Alvin Ramirez and Stacy the international actress?
She doesn't even look bad. Her shape is still perfect.
We love you Stacy Ramirez.
OMG, they even have Sara with them.

At the end, they were stranded for about 15 minutes before they agreed to sign autographs and take pictures. Sara took some photos with some girls while Alvin and Stacy signed autographs before the crowd gave way.

"Jeez, I never knew you could stir crowds like that", Cedric said in the car as they drove out of the airport.

"That's the life of a celebrity" Sara replied and closed her eyes. "If you reject, you turn to big news the next day.... Life of the entertainment industry".

"Well, I'm starving.... I need some decent food now", Cedric held his stomach and it growled. Laughter filled the air while Cedric was red in the face; pure embarrassment.

"We better stop at a restaurant before Ced consumes us all", Sara said amidst the laughter. The family took turns in mocking him before he dozed off.
