Don't say no to this // Part 2

A/N WARNING BIGGEST CHAPTER SO FAR ENJOY MUNCHKINS :))))

Alexander's POV

I took a deep breath in, my throat burning, but I was getting oxygen. I opened my eyes slowly and found myself seated beside the pool. Everything was excruciatingly bright. I squinted and slowly crouched to stand up, looking around but stopping when I noticed something odd.

The pool's cover was crumpled in a heap at the bottom of the pool.
"ALEX!" A voice screamed in horror behind me.
"John?" I asked, standing up.

John sprinted towards me, tears streaming down his face.
"John it's okay! I'm fine!" I quickly assured him, opening my arms for his embrace. John continued to scream, ripping off his jacket and running pull pelt towards me, he wasn't going to stop.

I took a step back and braced for impact, but it never came.

He ran straight through me.

I froze, my whole body feeling cold and empty. I swivelled around to see John dive into the water. I rushed to the edge, careful not to get too close, and peered into the rippled water, watching as John grabbed the tangled pool cover deep deep down on the pool's floor.

He ripped at it wildly, grabbing something from inside it and swimming back to the surface as fast as he could. He broke the surface and gasped desperately. I froze again. He held me in his arms, yelling out my name over and over again.
"ALEX!"
Oh god.
"ALEX WAKE UP!"
Oh god.
"PLEASE ALEXANDER!"
I'm dead. I'm dead. I'm dead.

John held the real me in his arms, towing me to the pool's edge in a fit of desperation. As his hand hit the edge Lafayette and Hercules ran through me, much like John had not much earlier. I suppose I hadn't noticed them come in, I was so focused on my dead body lying limp in John's arms.

I dropped to my knees in horror, tears streaming down my face as I watched Lafayette scream and Hercules begin to helplessly cry as they carefully removed my lifeless body from the water. I slumped to the ground, water dripping from my mouth as Lafayette untied my hands and checked for a pulse.

"J-John, there's no pulse!" Lafayette yelped, holding my wrist tight.
"Stay calm! It's okay!" Hercules tried to assure us. "I'm calling the ambulance!"

John nodded, taking off his shirt and placing it next to my head, he still wore a loose fitting tank top from underneath his shirt. With Lafayette's help he rolled me into the recovery position, my head resting on his shirt, water spilled from my mouth. I couldn't watch this.

"I'm doing 30 compressions and 2 breaths, you check for any signs of him waking up," John ordered as they rolled me back over. Lafayette nodded, holding my hand firmly.
"W-what if he doesn't-" Lafayette began to mutter, tears welling in his eyes.
"HE WILL!" John yelled, his eyes flashed with anger before softening to helplessness and sorrow. "He has to,"

John placed his hands over my sternum, beginning his compressions.
"Wake up wake up wake up come on mon ami we need you," Lafayette mumbled, his accent thick and his hands shaking as he held mine. After 30 compressions John leaned down, held my nose and tilted my head back to open my airways, sealing his lips over mine.

My cheeks flushed red as I watched him perform CPR. He had made it through 3 rounds when Lafayette took over compressions and he only did breaths.

Was I going to wake up? I don't think so. I was already a ghost, right? No going back from here.

So what would happen now? I'm dead. Jesus, I'm dead. Do I go to heaven? Or what if- god no.
I cried helplessly where I stood, watching John and Lafayette try desperately to revive me, not that anyone could hear me. I was about to continue contemplating my life as a ghost when paramedics burst through the door led by Hercules. I stepped out of the way before they could run through me, it was a weird feeling having people run through you.
I suppose I'd have to get used to being invisible and intangible, since I was a ghost now.

Paramedics moved Lafayette from the scene but allowed John to finish his breaths. He did one, my chest rising slowly. He did another, and suddenly my throat felt like it was quite literally on fire. I fell backwards, my head throbbing excruciatingly.

My eyes shot open and I gasped, air filling my lungs. My eyes met John's and John fell on top of me, bawling his eyes out. I threw my head back, sucking air into my system like a vacuum, breathing heavily. I shakily moved a hand over John's back and rest it on him. I was touching him. He could see me. I was alive! I survived!

The paramedics managed to pry John off of me and transfer me onto a stretcher. John sat on the floor, sobbing in relief as Lafayette and Hercules cocooned around him, crying out in joy. I tried to smile, or even tell them it was going to be okay, but I couldn't seem to derive the energy for it, my limbs aching and my throat more shredded than a cat's scratching pole.

An oxygen mask was slipped over my mouth & nose and I closed my eyes, breathing deeply, before opening them again to meet the kind eyes of an all too familiar face. The paramedic hovered over me, holding the tube extending off my mask in one hand and the edge of my stretcher in her other.
"Alezander, just stay awake," She breathed in relief, trying to lighten the mood with a good memory.
"Eliza," I managed to splutter under the mask.
"Shh, I know, I know," she whispered with sincere eyes, "Just stay alive and that'll be enough,"

John's POV

I paced back and forth in the waiting room, nerves getting the best of me now. Lafayette sat, leaning on Hercules tiredly. Beside them Angelica, Peggy and Maria all huddled together. I just needed Eliza to let us in. It was amazingly lucky that the day of Eliza's 'in the force' assessment was today (as she was studying medical sciences to be a paramedic) because if he had been alone in that ambulance I wouldn't have been able to cope.
"John, take a seat, Alex is fine, we- you saved him," Hercules smiled supportively. I sighed, both with relief and frustration. If Alex was fine, why couldn't we see him?
I was preparing to continue another round of pacing up the room when I saw Eliza through the glass wall, walking by with a clipboard snug under her arm. She stopped and swung the waiting room's glass door open, meeting my eyes.
"John," she said softly, ushering me to follow her. Finally. I shared hopeful glances with the rest of the group before following Eliza out into the hall. She led me down, past a long desk and into what I assumed was Alex's hallway.

"Before you go in, I need to explain to you, Alex has been diagnosed with PTSD, uh, post traum-" Eliza began to explain.
"I-I know what it is, continue," I waved her off with a concerned glance, knowing all too well what that was.
"He's on some pretty strong meds and was literally just brought back from the dead, so be super gentle, a-and by the way, if you hadn't gotten to him when you did and performed CPR, Alex wouldn't be here right now, so thank you and well done, it was an amazing exhibit of leadership, and bravery and overall very heroic." She smiled with a sigh of relief. Without a second thought I pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her in the hug for a moment before letting her go. "He's all yours," she hummed, slowly stepping to the side of the doorway that led to his room.

I slowly stepped into the room, peeling back the curtain that hung by the entrance. Inside, Alex lay with a steady supply of oxygen being fed to him through a tube hung in front of his nose and his fair share of needles and drips feeding into his left arm. He looked so defenceless, broken, helpless.

"Alex?" I whispered, stepping towards his bed. Alex's eyes fluttered open and his face lit up as his eyes locked with mine. Alex opened his right arm and I quickly slid onto the bed beside him, facing him and embracing him.

I tried to sit up, not wanting to crush Alex, but he held me there, still hugging me. It didn't take long for me to notice Alex had started crying.
"H-hey babe don't cry," I muttered, wiping away the tear that slowly slipped down Alex's cheek. I quickly realised what I had said and I could feel my face flush bright red. "Sorry I-"
"Don't be sorry, why the fuck are you sorry?" Alex laughed, his voice quiet and scratchy, but still music to my ears. "You literally just saved my life, don't you dare say 'sorry'!"

I had to laugh at that, shaking my head, holding Alex's face in my hands. Alex reached up and placed his right hand over my left.
"Thank you, god thank you thank you thank you," Alex began to cry again. "I love you John Laurens,"

"I love you too, Alexander Hamilton," I smiled, meaning every syllable of that phrase with all my heart, tears prickling my eyes. I slowly leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on Alex's lips before pulling away and caressing his cheek. "We need to stop meeting up like this, in hospital rooms," I laughed uneasily, cracking smile from Alex.

"So what exactly, happened?" I asked, tilting my head to the side in concern. If someone had done this to Alex on purpose, the purge would be coming to life tonight, no mercy.
"I don't really want to, uh-" Alex began to mumble before I abruptly cut him off.
"No it's fine it's fine," I assured, remembering Alex's issue and not wanting him to relive the trauma. "I'm just glad you're okay," I sighed, snuggling beside Alex. He smiled, falling asleep with me in his squishy hospital bed.

After a 30 minute power nap everyone else was cleared to come in. We all sat around Alex's bed and kept him company until visiting hours ended, but I decided to stay the night. Hercules was kind enough to bring me a small backpack with a few of my things in it for the over night stay. Essentials, toothbrush and toothpaste, hair brush, and the things that I considered essentials but weren't really, like comfy sweaters and earphones.

We had lasagna for dinner before Alex and I lay in our over-sized Cotton On sweaters listening to the Miranda: An American Musical soundtrack, sharing my earphones until 10pm when a nurse helped set Alex up with a new drip ready for the night ahead.

"Hey John," Alex whispered after the nurse had left the room.
"Yeah babe?" I asked quietly, sitting up a bit more.
"I seem to remember drunk John asking me if he could braid my hair at the bar?" Alex laughed softly, tugging out his hair tie. My eyes lit up in excitement. "Offer still valid?" He asked with a sheepish grin. Before Alex could react I had him sitting between my legs while I carefully braided.

The next morning I woke up with Alex in my arms. I was always the first awake, trained to be after years of waking up and rushing to school before Dad could- yeah. Alex had to sleep on his back so his drip could feed into his arm properly, but I tried to make the awkward experience as comfortable as possible for him. I reached to the side and checked my phone, 8:30. My first class had just started, but Alex needed me here. It couldn't hurt to miss a lecture or two?

I lay with him until he woke up, yawning a little. I think he was a bit scared at first, until he remembered where we were and what had happened the day before. I hugged Alex, letting him calm down for a moment before he spoke up.

"H-hey John," He stuttered, tugging at the sheets on his hospital bed nervously.
"What's up," I asked casually, slinking an arm around his waist.
"I, I uh, I saw y-you," he tried to explain. "Sorry I'm never this bad with my words, it's just, I just, ugh this is hard to explain." Alex sighed in defeat.
"No no take your time, I'm here and I'm listening," I assured him, interested in what was so hard for Alex to get out, coming from the boy who never had a problem speaking or writing his mind.

"Okay, this is going to be the craziest thing I have ever said, but, when I was..." Alex paused. "Dead,"
That word sent shivers down my spine. I nodded for him to continue.
"I, I was, I saw you," Alex sighed, using his hands a lot more than his words to try and get his point across.
"You, saw me? As in I was dead too?" I asked, a little confused.
"No no, I was like a ghost, and you ran through me, a-and I saw everything. I saw you dive into the pool after me, and I-I saw Lafayette and Hercules pulling me out of the pool, and I saw you d-do-" Alex began to tear up. I hugged him tightly and ran my fingers through his hair, calming him down.
"It's okay, it's amazing that you're coming out and telling me this okay, don't feel scared or pressured," I smiled warmly, holding his hands in mine.
"Thanks, John," Alex smiled down at our hands intertwined.

"So as I was saying, I, I watched you and Lafayette doing, performing that uh CPR, if it wasn't for such horrific circumstances having your lips on mine was nice," Alex attempted to joke, leaving me to chuckle a little.
"It's always nice having your lips on mine," I smirked, pecking him on the lips softly. Alex blushed softly before continuing.

"I-I just, after being there, seeing that, experiencing being on the other side, I tried to talk to you but you saw right through me, literally, you, Laf and Herc ran through me! I just feel like they're always watching," Alex attempted to summarise.
"They?" I queried quietly.
"Our loved ones that we've lost, our ancestors, history, they're always watching over us from the other side," Alex smiled. I was intrigued by what Alex was explaining, even if I struggled to comprehend it. It was amazing that Alex seemed to have seen everything that had happened while he was... dead, though.
"In a way, history has it's eyes on us," I muttered quietly, earning a grin from Alex. I had hit the nail of the head.
"Exactly," He beamed. Even if I saw it every day I would never get tired of Alexander's smile. It always sent the butterflies in my stomach into a frenzy.

"Well how about we get you out of this chemical-infested hospital and back where you belong, in our bed?" I laughed, pulling Alex up with me as I sat up.
"Our bed?" Alex smirked in response.
"Do you honestly believe we would be sleeping in seperate beds if we shared a room?" I asked with a small chuckle, Alex joining in.
"Good point, babe," Alex laughed, leaving a soft kiss on my cheek before I left to get a nurse to unhook Alex from his drips and oxygen. My stomach flipped at the nickname I had accidentally started as I made my way out of the room. God damn was Alex cute.

Third Person

It was now 5:30pm.

John had Alex released from the hospital around lunch time, after doing so then deciding to skip the rest of his classes for the day. And most surprising thing of all? Alex didn't even want to go to class. That shocked John immensely. He would've expected Alex to be on his knees begging to be sent to class, but instead he was quite happy to miss as much as possible.

"Who is this intruder? Is your name even Alexander 'Non-Stop' Hamilton?" John teased. Alex rolled his eyes and closed turned back to his laptop.
"I'm getting work done, just not surrounded by annoying brats who aren't even interested in the subject." Alex shrugged, tapping away at his worn keyboard. The keys were so over-used the letters were beginning to completely fade away, so anyone who wasn't experienced with the placement of letters on a keyboard wouldn't be able to type.
"Of course you are." John muttered sarcastically before a text came through from the massive group chat with everyone in their group.

AndpeggY: We're going to the beach tonighttt bonfire time as we come into cold weather who's in??!!! Xx
Middlechild: Yas!!
Angellicker: ofc ;)
Horsefucker: Laf and I will be there :))
Burrsir: Theo is coming down with a cold so we'll have to skip, sorry guys, have fun though!
AndpeggY: Boo you whore, best wishes tho hope Theo feels better sooooon xx

"Are you up for the beach tonight? I know a lot has been going on but it might be nice to just spend some time with our friends you know? If not though, be honest, you don't have to come if you don't want to." John finalised. Alex thought for a second before replying himself.

Ham: John and I can come - might be a little late tho

John checked his phone and saw the reply.
"Why would we be la-" John began to ask before Alex sauntered towards him and pulled him into a slow and passionate kiss.
"I still need to say thank you for that time you actually saved my life," Alex whispered with a smirk.
"You don't need to say thank you-" John began to reason as Alex's lips trailed down his jaw.
"But you want me to say thank you, don't deny it," Alex laughed against John's skin. John gave in, laughing as well and falling backwards onto their bed while Alex crawled over him and kissed him fiercely.
"Thank you," Alex whispered between kisses.
"Don't mention it," John moaned quietly, snaking his arms around Alex's waist.

---
A/N can we just pretend there's a really nice beach near by ik it's New York but it's fiction pls thanks, btw Summer is just ending, it's coming into Autumn :)

Alex and John arrived at the beach, towels thrown over their shoulders and a cooler bag strung across John's body.
"Guess who finally made it!" Angelica yelled as they approached the site where the other young adults were setting up a bonfire.
"Surprise," Alex laughed. John threw down his towel and left the cooler bag with the picnic basket. As Angelica greeted Alex with a hug she ripped away his towel to throw it on one of the logs they had to sit on, quickly realising why Alex had kept it around his neck.

"So that's why you were late," Angelica smirked, motioning towards the hickeys scattered along the back of Alex's neck. Alex's cheeks flushed red and he snatched the towel back and threw it around his neck again, much to Angelica's amusement.

The group sat down and passed a few beers and cans of soft drink around. After a small snack people began to head out to the water. Alex and John stayed back both for their own problems and to keep each other company. John didn't want to go topless in front of everyone since Alex and Peggy were the only people who knew about the scars, and Alex didn't want to be in the water for obvious reasons. They sat against the sunset, holding each other tightly. Soon the group decided to come out of the water again, drying off and preparing the bonfire.

Hercules lit the fire while Eliza retrieved her guitar once more, slowly beginning to play Hold Back the River by James Bay. Everything was serene, peaceful and perfect.

"I'm just gonna run to the bathroom," Alex said quietly, standing from his seat on the log beside John and walking to the bathroom shack down the back of the beach.
"I'll come, I need to go too," Maria agreed quietly, jogging to catch up with Alex.

Alex and Maria walked to the shack together, Alex turning the corner to enter the boy's end when Maria grabbed him by the shoulder. Alex spun around to meet her worried and scared eyes. She looked down at her feet before meeting Alex's gaze again.

"Maria," Alex asked quietly, placing one hand on her shoulder supportively as tears welled in her large eyes. "What's wrong?"

She shook, her thick hair falling over one of her eyes before she grabbed Alex's face. He had no warning as she tugged his face towards hers, kissing him aggressively. It was an angry kiss. Alex pulled back quickly, completely shocked. He tried to speak but Maria pushed her lips on his again. Alex finally broke away, pushing Maria off of him and backing up into the wall of the shack.
"Sh-she cheated on me," Maria sobbed quietly, brushing her hair back behind her ear.

"Peggy?" He asked quietly, trying to forget those kisses happened for the time being. Maria nodded solemnly.

She advanced towards Alex again, pushing him up against the shack's wall.
"Maria stop, n-no," Alex quickly muttered, confused as to what she was doing.
"Don't say no to me! Don't say no to this! P-peggy she, she cheated with John!" Maria cried into Alex's shoulder. "Please Alex," she whispered, drying her tears on her forearm and leaning up to him again, her chest pressed against his. John... cheated on him?

You said no to me. Nobody says no to me.

Maria leaned up and pulled Alex into a slow kiss, grinding up against him. Alex didn't act, he didn't kiss back but he didn't push her away either.

This should teach you never to say no

Alex shook his head in denial as Maria tugged at his shorts.
"W-When?" Alex muttered as Maria's lips left his. John wouldn't cheat on him, with Peggy? They were both 'gay as fuck' as he had said.
But he did lose his virginity to her. What if he went back?

Maria dropped down to her knees and looked up at him.
"I-I don't know, I just read a text message, a-and John was saying he was going to tell you about when they screwed, and Peggy just replied with a text message laughing about it!" Maria cried, her hands clutching the edge of Alex's shorts.

Suddenly a switch flicked in Alex's head and he pulled Maria back up to her feet.
"Maria Peggy didn't cheat on you!" Alex yelped, shaking her shoulders.
"Yes she did! It said in the text message! Peggy and John fucked Alex! I know it's hard to believe bu-" She began to cry.
"No, well yes, they fucked but in highschool before they even knew us!" Alex interrupted her desperately. Maria shut up and froze. It was so quiet the two of them could hear Eliza's strumming down on the beach.
"N-no," she whispered under her breath. "No, if Peggy and John didn't, oh god Alex I'm cheating on Peggy right now." She cried in horror, stepping away from Alex, her hands shaking.

"Maria don't freak out, you just misunderstood, Maria calm down," Alex reasoned, walking towards her.
"No Alex what've I done! I cheated on Peggy!" Maria sobbed, backing away from him.
"Maria! It was an accident, I won't say anything," Alex said quietly, grabbing her and hugging her tightly.
"You won't say anything?" Maria hiccuped, crying into his shoulder.

"Nobody needs to know..."
