David Nolan- Sickness (c)
44. "I'd like it if you stayed."
Being ill was the worst. Your head was spinning, your temperature was peaking and your throat was rough and raw. Luckily you'd stopped being sick now, but it did also mean you weren't leaving the bed, partially due to the ache that filled your body, and partially because your husband refused to let you get up, rather waiting on your hand and foot.
Granted it was annoying not being able to do anything for yourself, but you loved him dearly and you were glad he cared enough to help you get better.
David sat on the edge of the bed, running a hand through your hair, as you lay curled up in the covers of your bed.
"How are you feeling Love?" David asked softly, looking down at you concerned.
You were pretty sure he hadn't grasped the fact that you had a simple virus. It would stew for a few days, make you feel like crap, but it'd be gone soon and you'd be up and about in no time. He seemed to act as though you were knocking at deaths door and would be taken from him at any moment.
"I'm fine David. It's just a bug. I'll be better in no time. You don't need to act as if I'm dying," you laughed softly.
He furrowed his eyebrows not believing what you had said. All he wanted was to see you get better, he didn't like you being in pain or troubled as you were.
"I love you Y/N. You know that right," he said in a mere whisper.
You frowned at him. "Don't act as though I'm about to die and that's the last time you're saying it to me."
"I know Y/N. I just wanted you to know. It makes me upset to see you like this. You just look so rough."
You let out a laugh, but it quickly slipped into a coughing fit. He helped you lean forward a little so he could rub your back to settle your coughing.
"I love you too David. But don't worry. I just need to rest and I'll be good as new," you smiled softly falling back onto your pillow.
He gave your arm a gentle squeeze as he got up to his feet.
"I'll come check on you later," he said. "Is that okay?"
"I'd like it if you stayed," you whispered.
"Are you sure? I don't want to bother you."
You patted his side of the bed. He did as he was told, laying down under the covers next to you.
"You could never bother me. Just lay with me until I go to sleep. Then you can either stay or go I don't mind," you smiled.
He moved closer to you, wrapping his arms around you. David leaned in pressing a kiss to your hair.
"I love you," you whispered as you let yourself fall to sleep.
