Belle French- Cat (c)
By the number of books in your home, it was as though you hadn't left the library. Both you and your girlfriend Belle were avid readers, so running the local library seemed like a perfect job. You had spent the whole day working at organizing the books, still trying to recover the building from the previous life it led and wanting to bring back the magic that all libraries should have. After a long day, you were rather tired and wanted to rest, your brain not wanting to work properly.
As you made your way through the hallway, past the various piles of books, one of them fell down, making a loud bang on the floor. With a jump and a loud scream, you panicked, not knowing what caused it. Within seconds you had calmed down, seeing your cat sat on top of the pile next to it, a smug expression on his face having clearly batted the book down. You didn't know how it managed to move something so weighty, but you wouldn't put it past the creature.
"What happened?" Belle asked, rushing to your aide but seeing that you were perfectly fine.
You let out a sigh, feeling rather stupid for becoming so worried and worrying your girlfriend. "I forgot we had a cat."
Belle cocked an eyebrow at you, not sure what you were talking about. You made your way over to pick up the cat, ignoring its grumpy expression from having its behavior stopped.
"A book fell, and it made me jump," you shrugged. "Guess who was sat right next to it, having clearly made me jump?"
She laughed, taking the cat from you. "That wasn't very nice now was it?"
Belle told off the cat but seen as she was cuddling it to her, you doubted it took any interest in thinking about what it had done wrong. She lent down to put the cat back down on the floor, letting it scamper off into the many piles of books, likely to cause more mischief.
"Do cats only cause destruction?" You asked, picking up the book to put it back where it had come from.
"Not only," she assured you. "Just mainly. They like to see their mark on the world and the easiest way is by knocking things down."
You shook your head. "If that thing gives me a heart attack, then it'll be on your head."
Belle rolled her eyes. "I doubt that is going to happen, but I'll try to get it to behave."
"Good."
