Chapter 1

Hey guys. So this is my first Fairy Tail fanfiction. I have fallen in love with this anime and wanted to take a shot of writing my own story. This story is going to put Natsu and Lucy in fairy tales, but they are the fairy tales based on the Disney movies, so I will not write any fairy tales in their original forms, unless I find a fairy tale that Disney doesn't do that I like.

Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail (if I did, NaLu would be canon) or any of the Disney movies that these stories will be based off of.

In a land, far, far away, lies the Kingdom of Fiore, a small peaceful nation of 17 million, and a place filled with magic, found in every home, bought and sold in every marketplace. For most, magic is merely a tool, a mundane part of everyday life. For some, however, magic is an art, and they devoted their lives to its practice. These are the wizards.

Banded together into magical guilds, they apply their skills in search of fame and fortune. Many such guilds dot the landscape of Fiore, but there is a certain guild, in a certain town, that sores high above the rest, one from which countless legends have been born. A guild that will no doubt continue to create legends well into the future. It's name is Fairy Tail, and it lies in the heart of the town of Magnolia.

The wizards in this guild are often rambunctious, always causing trouble, however, this particular day was different. The guild was almost empty due to the pouring rain outside, and the few that were there were lazing about at some of the tables that littered the large room. One wizard in particular was a pink, spiky haired, young man named Natsu Dragneel. He wore a simple outfit of white baggy pants that stopped mid-calf because they were tied with string, and a black wrap that opened in the front with yellow trimming, the same length as his pants. On his top he only wore a black sleeveless vest, which also had yellow trimming, and opened in the front to show his bare, well-toned chest, and a white scaly looking scarf around his neck. A little off his right shoulder sat his red Fairy Tail symbol, and on his left wrist was a black sweatband. Black sandals completed his look.

Sitting across from him, on the other side of the table, was a blond haired wizard named Lucy Heartfilia. Her hair was shoulder length with a small ponytail pulled to the side of her head on the right side, tied in a blue ribbon, and a few strands hanging down to frame her face. She wore a white, collared, sleeveless blouse that zipped up the front, and had blue trimming, with a thick, blue line that wrapped around the top of it across her full chest. A blue mini skirt hugged her hips with a brown leather belt draped around it to hold her Celestial Spirit keys, that were tucked away in a brown leather pouch, on her right hip, and a black whip with a heart shaped tip on her left hip. Long black boots that went up to just below her knees, and her pink Fairy Tail symbol on the back of her left hand completed her outfit.

"I'm so bored," Natsu groaned out. He had his head face down on the table with his hands in his lap.

Lucy looked up from the book she was reading to look at him. "You could always find a book to read from the library."

Natsu raised his head so his chin was the only thing left resting on the table and gave her a look that screamed, "you can't be serious."

Lucy chuckled. "Ok, never mind then."

Natsu looked at the grey, hard covered book in her hands. "What you reading?"

Lucy looked down at the book then back at him and smiled. "It's a book of fairy tales by the author Walt Disney. I came across it the other day when I was helping Levy find some books for the research she was doing. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but when I saw that it was raining and that it didn't look like it was going to stop for a while, I figured now would be a good time to do so."

Natsu lifted his head the rest of the way off the table and sat back. "Fairy tales? Are they stories about our guild?"

Lucy chuckled. "No. They're children's stories about princes and princesses in far away kingdoms."

"Do they have dragons in them?" Natsu asked excitedly.

"No, not in these anyway... Oh, well, Sleeping Beauty does, but it only shows up at the end when the prince is trying to save the princess who's in a tower, and it's actually an evil queen, not a real dragon."

"Oh," Natsu said as he slumped his shoulders a bit. "They sound boring."

"Well, they are pretty much romance stories geared toward children," she replied looking back at her book to continue reading.

Natsu sighed, crossed his arms over his chest, and looked around the room. His eyes landed on the request board on the other side of the room. He grinned, dropped his arms, and turned back to Lucy. "Hey! Let's go on a job!" he said a little to loudly, which made Lucy jump a little.

"Natsu, it's pouring down rain outside. I'm not going out on a job in this weather."

"What if I found one that's inside?" he asked a bit pleadingly.

Lucy looked down for a moment. "Well, I guess if it's inside it wouldn't be bad, and I do still need a few jewels for rent..."

"Great!" Natsu exclaimed as he stood up, cutting off the rest of Lucy's thought and making her look up at him. "I'll go find one." Before she could say another word, he ran off to the request board.

When he got over to it, he scanned over the flyers that described the job requested. He put his right elbow in his hand and raised his other hand to his chin. 'Ok. I got to find a good one that's inside and still pays well.'

He saw one that was asking for wizards to take out some monsters that were terrorizing a small village, one from a museum asking for wizards to guard a cart that needed to go to another town, one for someone to help an old lady buy groceries, which Natsu didn't know why they even accepted that request, and one that needed a water wizard to help them with a flooded field.

He sighed and dropped his arms. "Lucy would never agree to go on these." He looked over a few more before one of them caught his eyes. He smiled and grabbed the paper off the board and ran back over to Lucy. "What about this one?" he asked slamming the paper down in front of her, which caused her to jump.

Lucy put the purple bookmark in her book before she closed it and looked at the paper in front of her. It had a picture of a castle on it. "Looking for two Fairy Tail wizards, one male, one female, to help play out some fairy tales. No more than the requested two wizards and can use any kind of magic." She looked at the bottom of the page and her eyes went wide. "They're offering 500,000 jewels?"

"It sounds like it would be inside and it pays well," Natsu said happily. "Plus, it has to do with those fairy tales you were reading."

Lucy looked up at him. "Are you sure you'd be ok with this? I told you fairy tales are pretty much romance stories geared toward children."

"As long as I'm with you, I'll be ok," Natsu said with a huge grin on his face.

Lucy stared up at him a bit shocked, pink starting to spread across her cheeks. 'As long as he's with me?' She stood quickly before her face could get any more red at the idea that Natsu was willing to play out romantic fairy tales with her and headed for the bar at the back of the room. "Guess I'll go let Mira know we're taking the job then."

Natsu watched as she moved away. "I'll go let Happy know we're heading out."

Lucy just raised her hand and stuck out her thumb as a response.

Natsu looked around the room and finally saw the small, blue cat her was looking for sitting at another table with a small, white cat named Carla that wore a small, green dress and a small blue haired girl named Wendy Marvell. The girl's blue hair was tied up in twin ponytails with two red bows that looked like horns and went down to her butt, and a green dress with a criss-cross pattern that made it look like scales on the bottom half that went down to just above her knees, and light blue, green, and yellow strips that were shaped like upside down Vs that gathered up around her neck to connect to a thin, gold necklace like collar that let her shoulders and back show. On both arms, just above her elbows, sat a thick, gold bracelet, with her blue Fairy Tail symbol sitting at the base of her right shoulder like Natsu's. Brown sandals completed her outfit.

"Hey, Happy," Natsu called out as he approached the table.

Happy looked up at the pink haired boy with a fish in his paws. "What's up, Natsu?"

"Me and Lucy are goin' on a job," he said happily.

"In this weather?" Carla asked surprised.

"You guys are going to get soaked," Wendy added.

Natsu waved them off. "It looks like an inside job, so we'll be fine. Plus, it's in another town, so it may not even be raining there."

"Oh yeah, that's true," Wendy replied.

Happy stood up, the fish now gone. "When do we leave?"

"Sorry, Happy, but the request specifically says no more than the two requested wizards are to come," Lucy said as she walked up to the group.

"Wha? So I can't come?" Happy said dejectedly as he sat back down on the table.

Natsu turned to Lucy. "He could always tag along and just not help us on the job," he tried to reason with the blond, feeling sorry for his little blue companion.

Lucy shook her head. "Sorry, but I don't want the client to get mad at us because we can't follow directions. They might even send us away if we brought him along."

"He can stay with us," Wendy offered.

"Really?" Happy asked liking the idea.

"If he must," Carla said crossing her arms and turning her head away from the blue cat, pink dusting her cheeks a bit.

"How long will you two be gone?" Wendy asked.

"Well, the flyer didn't really say, but I don't think it should be more than a day or two," Lucy replied.

"Thanks for letting Happy stay with you guys," Natsu said.

"No problem," Wendy said giving him a big grin. "Good luck on your job."

"Don't go causing any trouble for Wendy and Carla, Happy," Lucy said sternly.

"Aye, sir!" Happy said saluting with a paw.

"Well, we should get going, Natsu. We still have to stop and grab our travel bags," Lucy said turning to the boy.

"Right!" Natsu said as he saluted her and turned to head to the entrance.

Lucy shook her head and sighed before turning back to the others. "See you guys later." She then followed her partner toward the door.

"Aww, who took that fairy tale job?" Natsu heard in the distance before he reached the door. He turned toward the request board and saw a short girl named Levy McGarden, who had short blue hair wearing an orange sundress. "I really wanted to go on it with Gajeel. It would have been the perfect job to tell him how I feel about him."

Natsu blinked at that then his face turned red as he realized what he had gotten himself in to. 'Confess?' He looked toward Lucy who was walking toward him. 'Could this be a job that will make us...' He shook his head. 'No. Lucy's my best friend. I won't let this job ruin that.' He looked back at Lucy again. 'But if we're playing out these romantic fairy tales...'

"You ok, Natsu?" Lucy asked stopping in front of him.

Natsu blushed again and turned toward the door. "Yeah. Let's go!" he replied and grabbed her wrist, dragging her out the door. 'There's no way she even feels that way about me. I won't let this job ruin what we have.' He looked back at her. 'I can't loose her.'

A couple hours later, Lucy and Natsu slowly made their way off the train. Because Natsu's a dragon slayer, he has trouble with motion sickness, so the entire train ride, he was complaining about getting sick and how much he hated the train. Now that he was off the moving death box, he was slowly starting to feel better. The rain, however, that they were hoping to escape was still pouring all around them.

After Natsu finally felt better, they made their way to the client's house, which ended up being a little ways outside of the town. They stepped onto the covered porch, Lucy sighing in relief as she collapsed the umbrella she had and shook it to get the water off. "Finally. Why did I agree to this again?" she asked as a shiver wracked her body from the chill the rain caused.

Natsu walked up to her after he saw her shiver and wrapped his arm around her, heating his body so that he could heat her up with his fire, causing Lucy to blush. "Come on, Luce. It'll be fine once we get inside."

Lucy moved closer to the heat of Natsu's body and felt the chill slowly leave her body. "Then let's get inside already." She reluctantly stepped away from him and stood in front of the large wooden door. She fisted her hand and knocked loudly. When no one came after a minute of waiting, she knocked again. "Hello? We're the wizards from Fairy Tail here about your job request."

Suddenly, the door creaked open. Natsu and Lucy walked through the door and sat their travel bags down by the door which closed on its own, causing Lucy to jump. Natsu lit his hand on fire because there were no lights present in the room except the dim sunlight that came through the window. "Well, this isn't creepy at all," Lucy said sarcastically. "Hello?"

A door off to the side opened, the light from the room spilling into the dark entrance way. "Guess we're supposed to go in there," Natsu said as he put out his flame.

They made their way over to the open door and stepped into a medium sized room. The walls were covered in book filled shelves, with a small table sitting in the middle of the room. "This is incredible," Lucy said, her eyes wide in amazement.

"Yeah, but where's the client?" Natsu asked looking around the empty room. He wasn't as impressed with the room like Lucy was because he wasn't much of a reader.

Lucy walked up to the closest bookshelf and looked at the books, completely forgetting they were here on a job. Natsu walked over to the table in the middle of the room and looked down at the book that was sitting on top. It was a large grey book that looked familiar to him. "Hey, Luce, isn't this that book you were reading earlier?"

Lucy put the book she was looking at back on the shelf and walked over to the table. She took the book from Natsu and looked it over. "It is a book about fairy tales, like the one I was reading, but this one doesn't have an author."

"But it looks just like the one you were reading," Natsu said.

Lucy flipped the book over to quickly glance at the blank back cover, then turned it back around. "Yeah, you're right. Other than the author's name missing, it is just like it." She opened the cover and turned a few pages, but suddenly a bright white light emitted from the book, engulfing both wizards which caused both Natsu and Lucy to cry out.

When the light dissipated, the only thing in the room were the shelves full of books, the table, the book on top of it, and a set of gold and silver keys.

Well, what did you guys think? Let me know in a comment what you thought. The first fairy tale that I am going to be putting Natsu and Lucy through is Beauty and the Beast. If you have a request on which fairy tale I should put them through next, leave that in the comment as well. Remember, suggest fairy tales that are based off of Disney movies, or suggest a fairy tale that is not a Disney movie. I hope you all enjoyed it.

See you in the next chapter :)
