Shooting Stars
(I've been writing this goddamn chapter for two hours.)
"Poor Baby"
Ryuko was startled by the sudden person. She didn't recognize the voice. What if it was a burgalar? She could die right then. Maybe they had a gun. But then again, the woman had a deep but elegant voice. She sounded like she was of Royal decent, which she most likely wasn't if she was up here.
"Rumi Chan! Rumi Chan! Aren't you excited?"
Wait what.
Ryuko knew this voice. She knew it very well.
But... but she was gone. She had died a while ago. She was dead.
"No, not really. This is my hundredth wish."
Ryuko turned around and began wiping her tears. She wiped her tears and tried to get up. Tried. She stepped on the skirt of her dress and fell. She could hardly see because of how many tears were in her eyes. Her vision was blurry.
Her vision was still pretty ok. She could see the colors of everything around her but she didn't see the people talking.
Ryuko rubbed her eyes and looked into the sky at the same two stars. Except... they weren't there anymore. Instead, two shooting stars were falling from the sky. Ryuko gasped as she looked at them. The light blue star was behind the white one. The streams of color behind them both should've been blue like all the other shooting stars she had seen. The white star had a trail of light pink following it. The blue one had a yellow trail.
"Who's there?" She asked. She looked around once more, looking all over just to find the voices she had heard. Did they leave?
When she saw the sky again, or at least searched for the stars, they weren't there. Two animals she hadn't seen were there though. A butterfly and a bunny were circling around her. The bunny was albino. Red eyes and Snow White fur. The butterfly resembled a monarch butterfly. Ryuko held her finger out and just let the butterfly sit on her finger. It looked gorgeous but it soon flew to the ground next to the bunny. She thought the bunny would eat the butterfly so she began walking up to separate it until she saw the glitter.
"Wait-"
"Hey~" It was the deep elegant voice. She wasn't sure who this lady was but she was very pretty. She had long white hair that fell to her thighs. It was silky. Her skin was a beautiful brown that looked welcoming and warm. Her eyes were ruby red and she had long eyelashes. Every time she blinked, her hair would move. She wore a dark green dress that looked above their time. It was made of tulle, flowers, and lace. Lots of fine material on the dark green. Pink, purple, and yellow flowers decorated the dress. The sleeves were see through but the cuffs resembled leaves with flowers. The neckline was quite scandalous and left little to the imagination. At her waist, there was a ribbon separating the skirt from the bodice. The skirt was made up from dark green fabric and tulle. There was a large slit that revealed her leg as well. She wasn't wearing any shoes either.
(Jesus Christ I was describing a dress and took so many words-)
The butterfly girl...
"Nejire!" Ryuko cried. She ran up to Nejire and hugged her.
"Ah you know one another?" The bunny woman, Rumi asked.
"We were best friends! She's an angel!" Nejire smiled.
Ryuko began crying again as she took the strands of Nejire's hair into her hands. She needed to make sure she was real. She was glowing. She was just shimmering and covered in glitter. Her dress reached her knees and was a pretty teal color. It was backless so her butterfly wings would be free. The dress was a again, above their time. The neckline was a sweetheart one, it was covered in jewels, and it looked amazing on her.
"What happened here?" Rumi asked. "You kinda look like shit." Ryuko laughed at what Rumi said. She wiped her tears.
"My step sister and step mother hate me for some reason. They made a deal with me and broke it."
"Ooh! So you want me to curse them? Nejire's magic isn't strong enough, that's why she's a fairy in training." Rumi explained, pointing at Nejire's dress. Ryuko cocker her head. She didn't know what that meant.
"What's her dress got to do with her power?"
"Ah. So... it's complicated. When humans die and leave people behind, we become fairies or fairy godmothers! I've been gone for a year. Our dresses show how powerful we are. She died recently and all, so..." Rumi explained. Nejire nodded. Ryuko gasped. "Anyways, you want me to curse your family of assholes?"
"I- no! Of course not! I just wanted to go to this event but... as you can see, my dress is ruined, I don't have a ride, and I-I... it would be a waste of time."
"Goddamn it! Nejire, you can do this one. Turn her into a frog and I'll turn you into one too."
"No you wont, you adore me!"
Ryuko was confused as they went back and forth for a second more. "Wait, what are you going to do?"
"Ah! Well, look at this! You're dress is ruined, you have no ride. We're giving you what you need!" Nejire pulled out a large stick. It was white and a silver vine wrapped around the stick. She began rolling her wrist and the stick began producing glitter and smoke.
"Wait wait wait!" Ryuko gasped, backing away. "Before you do anything, can you promise me you'll keep my mother's dress? I don't want to lose it forever. It's repairable."
"Oh... Um... sure?" She said. Nejire began jumping up and down. "Ok so, you're my first client so if this hurts, tell me!" Nejire giggled, preparing to use her magic wand.
"Wait wha-" she shouted. She was interrupted by Nejire saying some spell. It was in a different language so Ryuko couldn't tell what she said.
Her mother's green dress turned into a work of art. It became a beautiful shade of cobalt blue. The sleeves were hanging on her shoulders, butterflies decorating them. Oh! Butterflies like Nejire's... oh~ The skirt was so large, she thought she could faint and the skirt would prevent her from getting hurt. The tulle was a bit itchy though. She twirled around, looking at herself. She looked amazing.
The bodice was nice but then she realized why she felt a bit compressed in her own outfit.
Her mouth opened wide as she realized.
She was wearing a corset. She hadn't worn a corset since she was young. Her waist was already quite small so she didn't really think she needed it, but it felt weird and nice to wear one at the same time. The bodice dipped like a funnel into the skirt. She almost cried because of how pretty she looked.
"You look so pretty!"
"Alright, hurry the hell up, we both know your magic won't last all night. We gotta get her to the dumb ball."
"The prince won't be able to resist you in that Ryuko!" Nejire complimented her as she began picking up all of Ryuko's animal friends. Rumi's already wide eyes opened more at the mention of the prince.
"Hey! Hey! Hey! Everybody, calm down. They won't hurt you!" Ryuko reassures her friends who were in Nejire's arms.
Nejire put them down by species. The bird were all going to become horses, Hagakure and Ochako would become Drivers, Tsu would become a footman, and everyone else would exist. She needed a carriage first though.
"Hey, can you be a doll and get me something? I need a pumpkin and you're strong. I'd ask Rumi but she's weird about lifting things. Something about her past life."
"Ah." She said. Ryuko quickly found a pumpkin in the garden. It was heavy.
When she put it down with the animals, Nejire squealed a bit more. She said the same spell. Tsuyu turned into a young girl with green hair and large eyes, the birds turned into Andalusian horses, and the mice turned into two young girls .
(I hate the word ball-)
"Cmon!" Nejire gasped. When Ryuko went to get in and Rumi saw her shoes.
"Excuse me. What the hell are those? You're meeting the prince with shoes like those? I was his friend in my past life, he probably wouldn't care but, cmon! Dress to impress girl!" Rumi laughed and used her own magic for the first time that night.
Her black flats became heels. Not ordinary heels, glass ones. With butterflies to match the rest of the dress. With an extra bit of glitter magic, Nejire brought Ryuko's hair piece back and kept it back with a small tiara. Both of her eyes were visible and she looked as beautiful as ever.
"Thank you so much!" Ryuko gushed. She was so thankful for their kindness. Tsuyu helped Ryuko inside the carriage. Then she helped Nejire and Rumi.
"No problem but here's the deal. Nejire's magic will only last until 12am. She is a fairy godmother-in- training, not a full blown one. So all of this will disappear at 12. So be mindful of the time." Rumi explained. Nejire looked shocked herself. Like she didn't know.
"Wait really?"
"Yes."
"Wait why are you two coming?"
"Oh, no big reason. I just wanna say hi to someone and Nejire has to come with me. We'll be gone before your curfew so don't bother looking for us."
Ryuko was having her dreams come true now.
(Y'all I hate myself for this chapter. It took me three hours for 1630 words. Bruh-)
