(Short story written for a challenge in morale)

She was walking through a field with her friend when she spotted a small fragrant flower and picked it up...

Story:

She was walking through a field with her friends when she spotted a small fragrant flower and picked it up, staring at it adoringly.

A recollection of memories that this flower meant swept her away from her weary state. She recalled the day she was low and decided to check the garden when she spotted a new batch of flowers.

They were so pretty she just wanted to take care of one so she did.

That midnight, she brought a mini pot and quickly transferred a flower.

"This is surprising." I jumped backwards and faced the man who spoke. "A girl went out late at night to get a single flower even there's a no picking sign."

He pointed at the rectangular wood. I widened my eyes. He wore the jacket of the young night watcher volunteers!

"I'll r-return it back! Just please don't report me! I-I just wanted to take care of one at home!"

"You wanted to take care of a flower?"

I jerked my head.

"Why?"

"It's just too pretty, and cute. It smells really good too."

He chuckled before glancing left and right. "I'll tell you what. I'll let you slide this one time."

"You will?"

He gave me a short nod.

"Only if you promise me you'll grow another patch of this flower."

"That's a weird condition."

"Sneaking out to steal a flower is weird."

"Touché."

It wasn't too long after that when they admitted they liked each other. It was like they were both living in a fairytale but they should have known they were living in reality. A year after he was diagnosed with Cancer that sadly took him away from her.

"You okay back there?"

Her friend stood a few feet from her. And with a genuine smile, she looked up the sky before saying, "Yes, I am."

This time she meant it.
