Chapter 12 - Enter Annoying New Student #2
Beep! Beep!
"Kristina, honey! Your husband's here!" Lizzy called in a happy tune. Kristina dragged her feet down the stairs and groaned at her mom. "Do. Not. Call. Him. My. Husband."
She grabbed her backpack hanging on the coat rack and before going out, she eyed her mom. "Ever." She sighed as Lizzy let out an annoying, girly squeal. When Kristina went out of the house, she found Daniel, as usual, lazily laying his back against the wall beside the door.
"Why, good morning, my wonderful fiancee who attempted to murder me last night." He smirked.
Kristina hissed angrily at him and quickened her steps toward his car. "Do me a favor and don't talk to me at school," she sat on the front seat and slammed the car door close. Daniel laughed, and then entered the car as well. As he turned the engine on, he saw Kristina looking out of the window, trying hard not to make eye-contact with him. "Hey," he said.
"What." Kristina coldly replied.
Daniel just laughed again and stepped on the gas. "Nothing."
When they arrived at school, they noticed a huge crowd outside the school gates. Reporters, camera men, spectators and paparazzi. "What's going on around here?" Kristina quickly stepped outside the car.
"Dunno. Maybe someone famous entered the school," Daniel put his hands inside his pockets and began to walk beside Kristina.
"Why would someone famous come here? Ah. Hurry up, we're gonna be late."
Both of them went through the stampede of people, trying to get themselves through the gate. "Excuse me! Student coming through!" Kristina pushed her way in, but no one seemed to notice her. She squeezed in between two large men and tried to swim her way out of the crowd. "I'm really starting to hate crowds," she groaned.
"That's 'cause you're short," Daniel easily slipped in and got through within a blink of an eye.
"Go away," Kristina mumbled. At the exact same moment, the school bell rang and the crowd of people began to push harder, dragging her away like a tidal wave. "H-Hey!" she cried out when she found herself suffocating in the middle of the crowd. "Ow!" she yelped as someone's heel stepped on her foot.
She turned her head left and right, searching for Daniel. "Ugh. He left me here to die..." she said. Just then, she noticed someone hold her hand.Kristina looked up and saw Daniel pulling her wrist and leading her away from the crowd. "Didn't you hear the bell? Move it, shorty." He joked.
"Don't call me shorty!" she retorted, and then accidentally got hit by a large camera on her arm. "Oops. Didn't see you there kid!" A guy wearing a red cap and gladiator sunglasses said.
"I'm not that short," she furiously muttered to herself. Suddenly, Daniel put his arm around her shoulder and covered her head with his hand. "Huh?" Kristina was shocked. He pushed their way through the large amount of people and later managed to get inside the school gates. Daniel let go of her at once and then casually put his hands inside his pockets.
"T-Thanks..." Kristina stammered.
"No problem," he replied.
Kristina began to make haste with her steps as she and Daniel slid across the empty corridors. Their footsteps even echoed. They were late. Too late.
When they entered the classroom, Ms. Stanford immediately stopped discussing as soon as she saw the two tardy students. The middle-aged woman looked at Kristina disapprovingly. "How nice of you two to join us. Kristina, you're the council president, being late yourself is setting a bad example."
Kristina lowered her head. "It won't happen again, ma'am."
"Miss Stanford!" Ella raised her hand and stood up. "They couldn't help it. There was a huge commotion outside and they couldn't get through the crowd. We saw them from the window."
Ms. Stanford looked convinced and the said, "Oh I see. And about that. Class, there will be another new friend who will be joining our class starting today. You may all know him very well, so please be kind to him. He should be here any minute," she glanced at her wrist watch.
The class murmured. Another new student? He or she must be a celebrity since there was such a huge commotion outside. Excited chatters spread the room, Kristina and Daniel were still standing in front. "At least she let us off," Kristina whispered.
"Yeah but wouldn't she like to sit us down? I'm tired," Daniel yawned.
Just then, somebody knocked the door. "May I come in?" he smiled. A tall, young man stood at the half-open door. He had a dreamy smile, such clear skin, sparkling brown eyes and jet black hair covering most of his forehead. The young man looked dazzling.
Gasps and screams were heard all over the classroom. "OH MY GOD. THAT CANNOT BE KRIS?!"
"NO WAY! SERIOUSLY?!" "KRISTOPHER WALLS TRANSFERRED TO OUR SCHOOL?!"
Kristina couldn't believe her eyes. It was the boy she bumped into! Twice! She elbowed Daniel's arm. "Who's he?"
Daniel's eyes widened, but he acted casual. "I-I think I saw him on TV once. He's a huge celebrity... I think."
He clenched his fist and thought, "Damn. What is he doing here?"
"Celebrity? No way?" Kristina said to herself. She didn't usually watch a lot of TV, so she had no idea who this guy was.
"Oh Kristopher! You're finally here. Yes, yes. Come in. Come introduce yourself to the class," Ms. Stanford smiled her sweetest smile ever.
Kristopher gently closed the door behind him and before he went in front, he noticed two other students standing there. He recognized Kristina immediately. He smiled up to his ears as he made his way through the class, all eyes staring at him. Instead of heading towards the middle, he walked directly to Kristina and unexpectedly--hugged her. "Tinz! I missed you!"
"HUUUUH?!" the whole class was in commotion.
"They know each other?!"
"No way!"
"Could he be another one of the pres' childhood friends?!"
"HUH?!" Kristina herself was shocked. She pushed Kristopher away and glared at him. "Who the heck are you?! Don't call me Tinz! Suddenly hugging me--"
"You don't remember me? Tsk too bad! I've never forgotten about you, not a single day!!" He said cheerfully. Kristina wrinkled her forehead. She really had no idea who this guy was, the only thing she knew was that she bumped in to him twice this week. Daniel kept eyeing the him, but the new student just erased his presence and acted as if nobody was there beside Kristina.
"So sorry. But I don't recognize you. Excuse us," she told Kristopher, then politely nodded at the teacher and went to her seat. Daniel silently followed her from behind and sat on his seat beside Kristina as well. Kristopher looked at Daniel and then a crooked smile crossed his face.
"Um... So Kristopher? Do you mind introducing yourself to the class now?" Ms. Stanford sighed. "It seems that Kristina is involved with every new, good-looking student eh?" she thought to herself.
Kristopher flashed a bright smile and jokingly bowed down like a gentleman. "I am most sorry for my rudeness, monsieurs and mademoiselles. Allow me to introduce myself; My name is Kristopher Walls, age seventeen, and, forever young," he winked as he flapped his expensive-looking cashmere coat.
The girls of the classroom dreamily sighed and squealed. "Kyaaa he's sooo cute!" "He's just like a prince!" "More like prince charming!"
"More like retarded," Kristina mumbled to herself. Daniel just glanced at her.
Ms. Stanford nodded and blinked fast. "Alright, alright. Silence class. Now, where are you from, my dear?"
"Well," he scratched the back of his head like a little boy and then laughed. "I moved here in America because of my work as an actor, but I actually used to live in Europe."
Whispers spread across the room as soon as he mentioned "Europe."
"I didn't know he lived in Europe."
"Did they mention that info in the media?"
"Maybe you just haven't read all the magazines and interviews yet, miss know-it-all."
"I thought he lived in Canada?"
Kristina faced Daniel and found him in his usual, laid-back position, with his disinterested eyes blinking slow and his head resting on his palm. She had no idea what was going on inside his head.
"I was home-schooled until I was a middle-schooler before, so this is actually my first time attending a real school. I want to try and live a normal life. I just hope that we'll all get along well and have fun!" he raised his arm and made a peace sign.
"Of course!" Ella herself yelled.
"We'll be happy to be your friend!" Sarah second.
"Welcome to our class!" Sean loudly greeted.
Both girls and boys began yelling. The fact of having a famous celebrity in their class made them excited. Only Daniel and Kristina didn't react. Kristopher looked at Kristina's direction and then winked at her.
"Heh," she scoffed. "Brat."
After a little while, the class quieted down and Ms. Stanford looked for an open seat. "Over there, please make yourself comfortable," she pointed at an empty seat, two chairs behind Kristina and Daniel. As he walked his way towards his chair, he stopped at Kristina's desk and smiled at her. "Hi again."
"Yeah." She said.
"Oh," Ms. Stanford called out. "You two may already know each other. Kristina is this school's council president. If you have any problems or questions, you can ask her. And if you want to tour the school as well, she can be your guide. Kristina?"
She secretly groaned. "Great. Now I have two idiots to tame." Daniel just stared at the new guy with his doe-like eyes and then glanced at Kristina again. She reluctantly smiled and said, "Yes ma'am. Nice to meet you Kristopher." After that, Kristopher went to his new seat and his new seatmates shyly greeted him.
Daniel turned his head and looked over his shoulder. Kristopher was happily chatting with the girls. When he noticed Daniel looking at him, he smirked evilly and then turned back to talking with the girls.
Daniel scoffed and faced front. "That guy... What did he come here for?" he thought.
Kristopher looked at both Kristina and Daniel and then chuckled in his head. "Danny, Danny, Danny. I'll make you pay for what you did--through that interesting girl of yours."
Author's Note:Yoo! So how was it? lololol. Please tell me your thoughts about the new antagonist. I knooow. It's a bit cliche. -____- And again, I apologize for any errors, or any lack of info. This one's rushed. AGAIN. Hohoho. To be honest, every chapter I make are "on-the-spot." Yes yes. I don't have a "plan" yet and I'm still thinking about what conflict I should make. Hihihi~
