Chapter one

To dupeadedej i

For her ceaseless love and support.

You are the best dear 🤩

5:30AM.

"BRINNNNNNNNNG" Her alarm rang furiously.

She ran out of bed in a jiffy, almost tripping as she did so.

Letting out a gasp, she hurried to her wardrobe to change from her night robe into her usual work out outfit- a bum short and a faded singlet.

Grabbing  her headphone, she set out for her morning workout.

Matilda Wright was a fair skinned lady  with large brown eyes, arrow shaped nose, full pink lips and lovely dimples.

She could be described as a lady with the  perfect curves...

Curves enough to make a man lose his head...

She ran a hand through her dreadlocks with a small smile on her lips.

She was never girlish from the start. She had always liked football and basketball, unlike other girls who spent time polishing their nails and reading those annoying romance novels.

She's a fitness trainer and she's grateful for her job, it gave her happiness, even if it was temporal.

Matilda could feel sweat oozing out of her body, her legs were shaky and a sudden pain sizzled through her.

She stopped  suddenly.

No sooner had she stopped than her phone buzzed.

She caught her breath and stared at the Caller's I.D.

Cassandra?

Wasn't it too early to receive a call from a sister?. She chuckled.

"Hello?"

Cassandra ignored her greetings" You haven't been picking my calls lately"

Matilda rolled her eyes.
Cassandra was the oldest daughter of the wright family. She was always nagging about Matilda's dress sense, it did no good because Matilda never care, not even once.

"We're back in Nigeria...my husband and I. We had a very romantic honeymoon...

Matilda cut her short."whatever". She mumbled.

"Since you're not interested in the details of the honeymoon, I'll just go straight to the details. We are having a dinner party at the Brigg's Mansion, so pack your things, you'll be staying for the weekend"

"Oh... really?...'. She almost cringed.

She hated parties...

Parties had its way of annoying her.

She sighed. Going to Cassandra's party was going to be a terrible experience, she could tell.

"You should dress nicely because Gray's friends will be coming too. I don't want to see you wearing baggy jeans and sneakers"

"Nothing is wrong with baggy and sneakers".

Cassandra blew out a breath over the phone" kid sis, you're endowed with curves...come on you've got to showcase it.
Call Belinda, she can put you through...but NO JEANS"

Calling Belinda was a bad idea. Not only was she the last of the three sisters, she was also the brain behind changing Matilda's fashion sense.

Cassandra hung up.
She badly hoped that one day her sisters will come to live with the fact that she's a Genderbender.

How life sucks..

*******

She adjusted the dress Belinda had given her, from time to time in the car.

"Belinda, the heels are very uncomfortable for me...my legs are hurting badly". Matilda winced.

"There's nothing wrong with the heels". Belinda snapped.

Matilda was dressed in a strapless royal blue gown that clung tightly to her body.
Of all clothes, what Belinda could give her was a strapless clingy gown.

She roughly adjusted the cup of her dress and grunted.

"I think I'll change into...

"Never!...I spent time doing your makeup.
I can't let you do that". Belinda said .

It was too late to do that now, their car pulled up in cassie's compound.

Belinda patted Matilda's breast " this looks perfect".

Belinda hopped out of the car with a swift stride, making Matilda wonder how possible it was for Belinda to hop out of the car so quickly with her four inches heels.

She blew out a breath.

If only she could wear her baggy pants and t-shirt...

"What are you doing in there, aren't you getting out?". Belinda asked impatiently.

Matilda stared down at her striped heels before reluctantly stepping out of the car.

She looked around in awe.

The Brigg's Mansion was very beautiful. It was her first time visiting the house.

Matilda grimaced " The wig is very uncomfortable, my hair is itching me"

She hit her hair furiously with her palm.

Belinda chuckled " Stop it...it's not ladylike ".

Not able to bear it any longer, she reached for the wig "Belinda, I think I'm going to remove this"

Without waiting for Belinda's reply, she almost pulled it off.

Belinda sighed heavily.

She knew there's no way she could convince this foolish older sister of hers.

Matilda almost pulled off her wig but stopped when she spotted a man standing about fifteen feet's away from them.
He was looking at them with keen interest.

Composing herself was the best thing to do, she decided.
She figured she was more in need of lessons in graceful comportment.

Maintain composure, Matilda...

You can't afford to disgrace yourself here...

She caught the man staring at them again.

Matilda cleared her throat before taking her hand off her wig.

Belinda chuckled" pull it off... aren't you pulling it off?"

"Nevermind"

Belinda smiled widely before turning around swiftly.

Belinda seemed to be a professional in walking with heels. She was about three feet away from her sister already.

"Belinda wait!"

She turned back to see Matilda walking unsteadily. She was almost tripping on her gown, her legs trembled as she took her first step.

She suddenly heard a loud laughter from a distance. The man she spotted earlier was the one laughing.

She lowered her lashes in embarrassment.
Biting her lips, she took another and almost fell in the process.

"I'm sorry, Belinda. I can't do this anymore".
With that she pulled off her heels.

"I'll get my flip-flop in the car"

Belinda shook her head, hissed and walked off.

Not caring anymore, she walked angrily to the car and brought out her flip-flop.

She was very furious. No one wanted to see her for who she was.

No one cared about what she really wanted to appreciate her dress sense.

She walked away with chuckles from a strange man filling her ears.

*******

RORY BROWN STOOD right at the front of the Brigg's Mansion. He bit his lips nervously, receiving a business call out of the blues was getting him nervous.

He had a feeling that something was wrong

"Mr Brown...I understand it's past work time but I have something to discuss with you". His personal assistant said over the phone.

"What is it?...I hope it's no cause for alarm"

He looked around as a car pulled up in the spacious compound. A lady came out and finally a fair skinned lady in blue dress came out.

Oh boy....

She's damn sexy...

" We might have to reschedule...but there's no cause for alarm...

He watched her, his lazy eyes lit up with interest. He could see her lips moving, she was talking to the other a lady.

A gentle smile tugged at his lips.

He was so worked out today. He would have cancelled today's dinner party but he had decided against it. He couldn't disappoint his Best friend -Rory. And besides, this was a way of clearing off his mind.

He glanced at the lady once more...

She saw her trying to walk with heels and an uncontrollable laughter escaped his lips.

She casted a furious glance at him before heading to the car to pick her flip-flop.

She passed by him as he chuckled.

"Mr Brown..are you there?"

"I'll get back to you'"

He hunged up with a grin.

It seems coming to the Brigg's Mansion wasn't a bad idea after all......

SHE WALKED TO the entrance of the Brigg's Mansion to see Cassandra and her best friend- Lily, grinning from ears to ears. Cassandra and lily were inseparable, sometimes it irked Matilda simply because they both team up to criticize her dress sense.... including Belinda- the little witch.

Cassandra was dressed in a peach flowing gown and lovely silver jewelries that complemented her outfit.

She is glowing.... Matilda thought

Married life suited her....

Matilda wasn't really surprised, because her sister was married to a billionaire.

Linda exchanged surprised glances with Cassandra when they saw Matilda.

"Belinda..what did you do to the Tomboy?". Lily asked in astonishment.

Matilda clenched to her fist when she heard this.

Would everyone just leave her alone?....if only that could happen.

Without a word, she stomped into the house.

"Lily...you ruined my special welcome. I wanted to welcome my sisters specially but you've gotten Matilda upset"

She walked straight to the bar where she gulped down a glass of champagne. Without a pause, she poured herself another glass and gulped it. It was her usual habit whenever she's upset .

Dropping her glass, she poured herself another glass of champagne. She was about raising it when someone took it and gulped it.

Angrier than ever, she turned to the uninvited visitor.

Her eyes darkened when she recognized the intruder.

The silly man that laughed at her some minutes ago.

"That's my glass". She told him hoarsely.

He said nothing and continued drinking.

She hissed and pulled back her chair before standing to leave.

Idiots like this were meant to be ignored.

Suddenly,he pulled her by the waist and held her to him.

She was too stunned to speak. Wordlessly, she stared at him like a tongue-tied schoolgirl. Her full lips parted.

And then, he finally spoke.

"Let's dance".
