"Your uncle is very nice" the boy said, lying back down onto the grass.

Lui scoffed under his breath while glancing at his uncle who was sitting on a bench, talking away on the phone. He looked away and sighed, running his hand over the soft grass. He curled his hand into a fist. Nice? He wouldn't call him nice..but he isn't mean all the time either.

"How is he nice?" Lui blurted out. He bit his lip. He didn't mean to say it like that.

The ruby eyed boy sat up. He gave Lui a questioning look, thoughtfully tilting his head to the right. Lui waited for him to speak.

"Don't you think he's nice?" He asked finally.

That was a tricky question. Lui chewed on his lip and glanced at his uncle again. He seemed to be done talking on his phone, since his uncle looked to be in deep thought as he stared at the sky. Lui's eyes flickered to the sky aswell. It was painted with soft pastel shades of orange, pink and purple. The evening was seeping into the night pretty fast. Lui gulped and faced his friend again. Why was that question so hard to answer?

"I..well, I guess he's okay" Lui muttered at last.

"Okay?"

Lui let out a sigh. "I just don't like him much, I mean he's not bad or anything"

The boy nodded and looked towards the sky.

"Why is he here anyways? I mean...usually he just visits but..?"

"My parents are away, they went to America" there was slight bitterness laced with Lui's voice.

"Is it for their company?"

Lui nodded, not trusting his voice. The boy smiled softly and he reached out towards Lui. Lui stayed still as he felt his friend's arm wrap around his shoulder. The ruby eyed boy sat closer beside Lui, tightening his arm.

"Lui, you know you can tell me anything, you do know that right?"

Lui's heart immediately rushed with warmth. His violet eyes fell to the ground, they were watery. He nodded his head and he could feel the boy beside him smiling. Lui's head fell onto the boy's shoulder and he closed his eyes. He needed someone to hold him.

"I could tell you're not entirely happy. But things do get better, you know? You don't have to tell me anything, but everything will be okay"

Lui hummed in response. The thing is, things won't get better. He just knows it. His eyes travelled back to Hajime again. Not with him around, bitter thoughts circled Lui's head like a vulture. His fingers twiddling with blades of grass and his head still resting on the boy's shoulder. He closed his eyes. If he's this young and feels like this already, how will he act or feel in the future. Will I even be a good person...

Even if he might not be a good person. He'll never hurt anyone, or at the least, try not to. He won't hurt people like his uncle does to him. He won't be Hajime. He'll be Lui. But, Hajime deserves pain, right? He did horrible things to me, he deserves pain..everyone does! Lui's eyes filled with horror. He inwardly groaned at his horrible thought. No, no, no! Not everyone, only him! You idiot!

He held in his shudder as his mind wandered back to the voice he heard during the other day. It can't be real, it's just his imagination, nothing more. Lui swallowed, he won't be a coward. He'll be strong and powerful. Some how, he will. He didn't realise it, but a small burning flame of determination, anger and ambition was slowly growing in him. Soon to be a roaring wildfire.

For a little while, they both basked in the silence. The silence was something they both appreciated. Lui let his worries and bitter thoughts settle down for now and just let himself enjoy this moment with his friend. Who knows what might happen in the future, maybe cherishing moments like this won't happen again. Like the ones he used to cherish with his parents, but not anymore.

"I just don't like how my parents are away, I feel like they..they find me annoying" Lui's voice was wavering ever so slightly, his gaze on the ground.

After a uncomfortably long moment of silence, Lui looked up, only to have ruby red eyes locked onto his violet eyes. The ruby eyed boy had his face set straight, a serious glint in his eyes that Lui had never seen before. Lui could tell that mild surprise was evident on his face.

"Lui, don't ever say that. No matter what you do or think, don't ever say that! Or even think like that. Your parents love you-

"But they left!" Lui snapped.

The ruby eyed boy let out a sigh and pulled away from Lui to look at him. "They didn't leave you silly, they need to do work. They'll never abandon you, they don't find you annoying, 'cuz you're not annoying," The boy pulled Lui into a hug. "Don't ever think like that, okay?"

Lui swallowed back his tears and nodded. His fear of abandonment will forever grow and no words of reassurance will ever reassure him. His anger bubbled inside of him, but the faucet behind his eyes were working away aswell. He hates it when he's angry but he wants to bawl his eyes out at the same time. Cold, emotionless anger is much better than this. Maybe caring too much has lead to this. Maybe I should push people away...no that's selfish!

Lui pulled away from the boy and stood up. His friend stood up aswell, giving Lui another questioning look. It was remotely dark by now. A few stars dotted the sky but faded away into the bright purple horizon.

"I think we should go home now" Lui said and then peered over at the boy. "Are you staying?"

The ruby eyed boy nodded and smiled. "You don't mind do you?"

Lui grumbled. "I already told you I don't!"

His friend just smiled.

They both walked over to Hajime. Lui tapped Hajime's knee, for he didn't seem to notice the two boys standing in front of him. Hajime raised and eyebrow at Lui.

"I'm assuming you want to go home?"

Lui nodded.

"And I'm assuming your friend is staying with you?"

"If it's okay with you sir" the ruby eyed boy butted in.

Hajime laughed. "Yes, it is okay, I don't see any problem"

"Atleast you didn't make an ass out of yourself this time" Lui whispered under his breath.

Hajime glanced at his nephew. "Manners Lui"

The ruby eyed boy looked confusingly from Hajime to Lui. Lui shrugged at his friend and looked down the side walk. How did he hear me? Lui cursed underneath his breath, only to have Hajime sharp gaze fall onto him again.

Lui's eyes were trained on the darkening sky as his footsteps fell into pace with the two people beside him. Lui cursed the weather under his breath as he began shivering. He felt a heavy material drape around his shoulders. Lui scowled up at Hajime and fought the urge to throw the jacket off his shoulders. Hajime smiled nonchalantly at him.

"You should remember to bring your jacket, Lui,"

Lui grunted and moved his shoulders a bit. The jacket was warm. But he'd much rather freeze to death than be confused. His uncle was being nice yet again. Does this mean he'll stop doing bad things? Will things actually get better like his friend said? Lui shook his head and shuddered. He shouldn't believe that.

Things won't get better, I should be able to deal with that.

A coward like you? Dealing with things? What a joke

Lui's hands flew to his head before he let out an ear-splitting scream.
