Chapter 3: Farewell Party

"Where's your girl?" Hobi asked puzzled as Jungkook and him headed together to the venue where the farewell party was going to be held.

"Ah, she's parking. She'll be here in a minute" the maknae replied and he nodded.

Just then they saw a biker park right in front of them, puffy windbreaker, pants and leather gloves.

"Wow, that's so cool. Is that a Daelim Daystar*?" Jungkook asked Hobi, but the biker answered before his hyung could.

"Indeed, my friend" they replied as they loosened their helmet and pulled it over their head. Shaking it, they let their ponytail fall and offered them a friendly smile.

They both raised their eyebrows at the unexpected reveal. She removed her hairtie and fluffed up her hair. Then took off her gear and put it away in a bag.

"Are you coming to the venue as well?" the youngest asked excitedly as she headed towards the door they were approaching.

"I'm here with Park Miyoung-ssi" she told the man at the door and he searched for her name on the list, motioning for her to go in once he ticked her off.

"Oh! From Marketing & Promotion?" Jungkook recognized the name and she nodded smiling again. Miyoung was a good few years older than him, but then again this woman wasn't as old, maybe a younger sister?

"So are you into bikes?" she asked curious about his enthusiasm.

Hoseok walked ahead leaving them to their conversation as he made his way to the bar to get a drink with them following closely behind. After ordering, they stood to a side and he leaned on the bar as he waited for his cocktail.

The bartender handed both their drinks to the two talking and then placed Hobi's in front of him with a little side smile.

"Looks like those two are too busy, aren't they?" she started a conversation as he seemed to have been left out. He simply chuckled and agreed.

"Can I get you another drink for someone?" Hoseok found the question odd. Was she trying to see if he was on his own or had company? He blushed and shook his head with an amused smile on his lips.

"No, that's alright, thank you" offering a polite smile, he took his drink and bowed his head to thank her.

He made his way towards the sitting area where he could see the rest of the band sitting in a booth from afar. Namjoon bumped into him as he headed in the opposite direction.

"Namjoon-ah! Hey, are you going to get a drink?" Hobi turned back around and walked with him. The server welcomed them both cheerfully once more.

"Looks like you've got an admirer" Joon commented amused as he saw the way she looked back at his friend before she turned to scoop some ice into a tall glass.

"You think? I guess so" Hoseok laughed softly and side-glanced at his friend as he took a sip of his drink. He tried to change topics right away.

"Ah, Jin hyung would sure love to be here, always asking us to go out for drinks" he was here to enjoy the night with his friends and acquaintances. Nothing more, nothing less.

Since he opted to drop the whole thing after the fiasco with Seoyeon, his focus had been on anything but women and he was going to stick to it until the day they left. He was quiet content with all that being on hold, it was rather stressful and tiring.

Maybe this was what he had to do all along, redirect his attention to more important matters and not let it get to him.

When they finally made their way to the booths. The one where Yoongi, Taehyung and Jimin were sitting with their girlfriends had no more room for the two.

Next to it, at another table, Jungkook, his girlfriend and the woman from earlier were now sitting with Miyoung.

"And thanks to Miyoung's help and her registry of the ARMY membership, I was able to find you and go to your apartment that day" Kook explained to his girl and all the ladies smiled endeared just as the two hyungs slid in the seats.

"Namjoon-ssi, Hoseok-ssi, this is my girlfriend" Miyoung quietly introduced them to the woman and he tried to hide his surprise this time.

"Oh, so you are BTS. I knew you looked familiar" Miyoung's partner said in a moment of realization and she blushed embarrassed.

"Of course. I told you this was a goodbye party for three of them, casually two of those are in front of you" the marketing employee whispered a little too loudly and Hobi felt the need to reassure them it was okay to avoid the awkward moment.

"We are BTS" he replied with an airy laugh before he continued, "it's completely fine though."

"No, we are not celebrities or anything, please" Namjoon added and now it was the couple's turn to laugh. The casual chat continued for a while until Jimin showed up.

"Do you guys want to dance? It's getting boring thirdwheeling with Yoongi hyung and Taehyung-ah's girlfriends back there" he explained awkwardly and Hoseok instantly stood up feeling similarly.

"Jimin-ah! I was waiting for someone to ask, let's go" Hobi was so ready to relax and have a good time, let his worries go as he became one with the flow.

"Come on, guys, join us!" he encouraged the rest.

Jungkook and his girl got up without hesitation and so did Miyoung's partner, but it took a bit of convincing before they all were at the dance floor.

The dancing was carefree, synchronization didn't matter, neither did the flow or the moves themselves. Hoseok let himself enjoy the rhythm. His body instinctively followed the beat.

His friends around him were smiling widely, it didn't matter how they were enjoying themselves. There was no right or wrong way to feel the music. That's what this was all about to him. What music inspired people to do.

The girl from the Marketing department and her girlfriend danced close to him, one of them stood out for being particularly ungraceful, the other wasn't bad at all. Yet the one dancing silly was the one that seemed to be having the most fun.

For a moment he made eye contact as he turned to them and he couldn't help but offer one of his bright hearty grins just going with the flow. That incited one in return from the girl who was suddenly pulled away by her arm by her girlfriend. And then they were gone.

A little confused, Hobi turned to his members and continued to dance minding his own business. It didn't take long until he got caught up watching the couples with a little sad smile, but thankfully Jimin pulled him out of his thoughts soon enough.

"Hyung!" he called his attention yelling over the loud music and he went all out with his dongsaeng. Exaggerating their moves for the fun of it.

Hobi danced until his feet hurt, not wanting to go back to reality just yet. Wiping the sweat off his forehead, he headed to the restrooms to wash his face when he had no other choice.

"Hob-ah! Wait up" Yoongi called trotting up to him as he saw him walking away.

"How's your night going?" the younger one asked with a playful smile.

Yoongi was feeling rather gloomy having to leave everything behind, he felt uneasy about change, about distance from his loved ones.

"It's okay" the older one replied hesitating a little. "That was fun, I think I'll go sit down now though. I'm tired and my girlfriend is such a lightweight" he chuckled as he turned to the dance floor to look at her with Jimin looking after her.

Even if he didn't talk all that much about it, Hoseok could relate to what he was feeling to a certain extent. The thought that he had no one to leave behind and no one to come back to crossed his mind briefly and he instantly shut it down.

This night had him feeling emotional.

That wasn't true either, he had a whole lot of people that loved him and were sad about seeing him go. People who would be awaiting his return.

He also had fears, about how they'd be treated for being idols. For being men in the industry who challenged stereotypes and masculinity in the traditional sense.

Going into military training was hard enough being a regular citizen, he'd heard stories about bullying, about people not being the same before and after.

What if he lost himself there? His life was much too precious, he did indeed feel a little lost already. What would he do without his dance routines, without his long hours at the studio and carefully planned choreographies filling his mind.

"Ooop-" Hobi stopped in his tracks as they both turned the corner into the hallway and bumped into a couple making out leaning against the wall.

His hyung cleared his throat awkwardly and pulled the frozen guy towards the men's restroom at the end of the hall.

"Was that the woman from Marketing?"

"I don't know, I don't care, but you were staring" Yoongi looked at him puzzled, the younger one was flustered. His smile grew wider as he saw the opportunity to tease him, "had you never seen women kissing?"

Hoseok felt the heat creeping up to his face and started giggling embarrassed, "it just caught me by surprise, that's all."

"Are you okay? You didn't answer me."

"Come again?" Hobi was unaware of the fact that he had said anything at all before.

"How's your night going?" his hyung's eyebrows were knitted together with concern. He seemed to be lost in his thoughts, he was always about living in the moment. It was unlike him.

"Yes, I'm just a little nervous about being away for so long. What are we if not performers?"

"It's going to be okay, Hob-ah. We'll be there together and the kids will be fine" Yoongi said patting his back trying to offer some comfort.

After washing their face, they returned to the booth where everyone had gathered, bringing chairs to sit together around the table. Hobi offered to get some drinks to sit back and chat for a bit.

"Hey there, how are you doing? What can I do for you?" the bartender asked leaning forward, arms crossed on the bar and a little smirk on her face as she shamelessly looked him in the eye.

"I'm alright, thanks" he answered with a friendly smile and promptly ordered, "four beers, please."

The girl turned around and opened a fridge to pull out the bottles, then opened them right in front of him and pushed them forward.

"Here you go" she said smiling bright and again he offered a tight smile in return. It actually made him a little uncomfortable.

She seemed to be staring at the dimples that formed on his face and he pressed his lips together awkwardly holding back a little nervous laugh.

"Thank you. I'll go now" he hurriedly grabbed all the bottles by the neck with both hands and, with a quick nod to thank her, turned around and left.

Hoseok took a seat once again looking like he was deep in thought, he wasn't sure if it was the alcohol that had him feeling down or just the uncertainty of it all.

Namjoon took one of the bottles, then Jimin, Yoongi's girlfriend and he kept the last one. He gulped down a generous sip and looked down at the table with wide eyes.

"Maybe you shouldn't drink anymore" Joon said with a sympathetic smile wondering if that had him looking deflated.

"Why? Let him, you are going off to the military in a week. I'd drink too" Yoongi turned to his girlfriend wide-eyed and took the bottle away from her to drink the last of it so she wouldn't, then glared at her for what she said despite her protests.

They got it, they all did and suddenly they were dead silent.

"It's been hard without Jin hyung and now..." Jungkook said with glassy eyes and they were all shocked, he usually kept his feelings to himself, but he was really affected. His girl laid on his shoulder trying to comfort him as she took his hand in hers.

"You guys will be okay" Namjoon said with a reassuring smile, squeezing Jimin's shoulder next to him and then looking over at Jungkook and Taehyung. They nodded with small smiles, but looked down at their laps right after.

"First it was us six, now we'll be just three. It was already difficult" Jimin said clasping his hands on the table and pouting looking particularly sad. There was a lot of pressure on him as he'd be the oldest of the three left.

"We'll videocall whenever necessary and once a month we can come back to Seoul if anything needs to be taken care of. It'll be okay, Jimin-ah. It'll just be different, we need to adapt to change" Yoongi answered as his girlfriend curled up next to him, laying her cheek on his shoulder and facing to the back of the seat, making him smile to himself amused.

"And we have each other here, we'll lean on one another" Taehyung added looking at both members that were staying behind with him. Now Jimin's eyes were teary too. "Don't cry or I'll cry" he added with a little laugh to lighten the mood.

"No one's crying" Hobi let out a little giggle and smiled widely.

If they kept talking he might end up crying too, but they didn't need to know that. They continued to talk more light-heartedly for bit before they all went their separate ways for the night.

The party had only taken his mind off things briefly and he felt dispirited as the reality of everything started to dawn on him.

He was too busy and clueless to even imagine that the events of the night were more relevant to him than they seemed.
