Chapter 16: The Alcohol Ban
When you woke up the next morning, you felt mortified. Your neighbor had heard you touching yourself and you cursed at that one drink you had in an effort to relax.
So much for trying to fix things between you two. He was clearly disturbed by the noise and there was no going back now.
The worst part was that he was your client, you worked for him. How were you going to look at him in the eye now?
You groaned, kicking and hitting the bed beneath you. The only reason why you didn't scream to vent out your frustration was because you were afraid Hoseok would hear.
You had wanted to feel a little buzzed, not go all the way to horny drunk. You'd make sure to let the receptionist know at check out that this was unacceptable for a 5-star hotel.
Last night had been stressful, you were feeling the pressure of working for such important people, so you decided to order room service and chill.
You sat at your private balcony, which you'd specially requested to your employer knowing you needed your quota of fresh air, and sipped on your martini.
That's when you heard a squeaky voice cooing and you smiled to yourself. The person continued to talk, their voice deeper and manlier and you were shocked.
Was that really your neighbor being all cutesy? Who was he talking to? When you figured out it had to be his fanbase, you leaned on the railing and waved your glass to greet him with a huge smile.
He looked up at you confused, it was hard to believe he could be this adorable. And he looked so handsome tonight too.
Fresh out of the shower, with his wet hair, comfortable pants and a plain t-shirt, he was the embodiment of what they called boyfriend material.
It made you feel specially lonely, but you tried to push the sad feeling to the back of your head. Stable partners? You couldn't have that luxury.
It was probably the alcohol getting to your head, but why was he so incredibly attractive when he adopted that stern attitude? He was supposed to be annoyed, but it was so sexy.
His eyes went back to the screen and he smiled like he never did around you. A real smile. He brought his hand to his lips, sent a noisy kiss and kissed his pointer fingers and thumbs held together in the shape of a heart.
It was the cutest thing you'd ever seen and you couldn't hold back the smile that tugged at your lips or the soft giggles.
The moment he was done with his video, he gave you a hateful look and you wondered why he was so mean.
What had you ever done to him?
Right then, you had to open your big mouth and question him, but he still refused to tell you what was wrong.
Like the dumb idiot you became after drinking, pretending not to be hurt and bothered sounded like the best option.
Plus flirting? That was a sensible course of action apparently. You never seemed to learn.
Without a doubt that had him hastily picking up his things and walking back into his suite only a minute later.
You were likeable, weren't you?
Usually befriending new people was easy for you, you hardly had to try. But he couldn’t stand you and you were fed up with him pretending everything was just fine.
It was getting late so you went to bed right away, you were going to be flying early next morning and you wanted to be well-rested.
Feeling hurt, lonely and hot was definitely a bad combination as you laid in bed. One thing lead to another and you got lost in the moment.
You wanted to feel better, you wanted to relax, to have a good sleep and instead you were more stressed.
It seemed to be helping until a loud thud on the wall brought you back to reality.
“Hoseok” you gasped realizing he'd heard you come, at the very least. His room was right on the other side too?
You tried to catch your breath quietly, not knowing exactly how much he had heard. This was so embarrassing.
So much for trying to relax, your every attempt was destined to fail. You popped a pill to help you sleep and stopped trying to take the holistic approach.
Hoseok didn't seem to mention a thing to anyone else. You were grateful because that was supposed to be your private and alone time.
It shouldn't have to interfere with your job, but he was one out of seven men that had the power to boot you if they deemed it necessary.
Or if they simply didn't like you. It wouldn't be the first time. Sometimes clients just don't click with you or they are difficult to deal with. It happens.
You'd never been hired for such a long period of time though and this was an important opportunity for you.
The band was as nice and welcoming as you remembered them. At least the other six had had nothing but good things to say about their first flight with you.
Hoseok being the last to give his opinion and bringing down your team hadn't helped you feel at ease in the slightest.
For the sake of your dignity and your livelihood you decided to interact as little as possible with him from then on.
With time, hopefully the air between you two would clear and you would be able to leave this feeling of shame behind.
You took pride in your services and professionalism, yet no matter what, you always seemed to screw up when this guy was around.
Week after week you turned down offers from your colleagues to go out for drinks. You were afraid you might do something stupid in front of the wrong people.
You didn't even accept invitations from your own team. What if you ran into your neighbor on the way back to your room?
It was making you miserable to be locked up inside at night even if you tried to make the most out of your days out. After all, it was the time of the day when you struggled the most in general.
Keeping your distance seemed to be doing the trick though. Hoseok was visibly more relaxed around you. Not that he paid attention to you, he was no longer concerned by your presence.
This couldn't go on forever, you were going to lose your mind and your employers were going to have a different reason to worry about you*.

* Drinking culture in South Korea is very important. Employers and employees usually go out for drinks after work to help the team bond. Some bosses are very rigid and will judge if you skip these invitations. This is why “you” are concerned.
