Chapter 14: Teenage Dream
“Hello ARMY!” Hobi smiled a big lip smile, poking his dimples with the tips of his index fingers and shutting his eyes for extra cuteness.
His phone was propped up on the glass table of his balcony at the hotel. They had just finished their last concert in Las Vegas and, after showering, he decided to turn on VLive.
“How did you like the concert?” he was comfortably laying back on a deckchair with the table over his lap for a decent angle.
He brushed back his damp hair, trying to keep it off his eyes. Shaking it with his hand a bit to give it some volume as he checked himself on the camera. In the meantime the fans answered his question.
Many were admiring his bare face and exposed forehead and he chuckled, they got sidetracked so easily.
“I had a great time, but it’s time to go to our next stop” Hoseok said pouting endearingly and they answered enthusiastically.
People from all over the world were eager to see the band and were looking forward to their country’s dates.
“I’ve missed touring, performing for the army is just different. Performing for ARMY though, that’s a different story” he added with a little smirk and started humming a little song as he read the comments that relentlessly popped up on the screen.
The number of marriage proposals made him smile sadly. They were so common, yet he couldn’t help but think about how easy they all made it seem. For idealized images of them, they’d do anything, they knew that well.
It’s like there was no ‘ugly’ to the fans and, while that was reassuring at times, their love unconditional, it also added tons of pressure on them. They had to work hard to be up to their expectations, they claimed they’d be happy with anything, but that was not true.
They were entertainers, performers, people expected grand things from them. Fans would be happy with anything they worked hard on, maybe, but not with the bare minimum, not with disappointing results after a long wait between comebacks.
Some rustling was heard and Hobi looked around with furrowed eyebrows, cocking his head. There was nothing off, but it made him feel uneasy.
When he looked back down at the screen, ARMY was bombing him with questions, wondering what was up with the fearful expression on his face.
Damnit.
“Everything’s fine. I’m out here on my balcony. It must have been some bird, I hope so” he chuckled a little nervously.
Their floor was too high up for them to fly up, but he didn’t want to think it could be bats. He shuddered at the thought.
‘Have you got some company?’ a curious fan asked and he smirked. Now that multiple members were open about their relationships, they seemed to be eager for the rest to find their significant others.
The idea wasn't as upsetting as it once had been with only three of the guys seemingly single. Jin's relationship was too new still, but it seemed to be serious.
It was starting to feel like ARMY was teaming up with their families. His mother asked him if he was thinking about settling down every time he visited. Whether he had met a woman or if he’d been neglecting his personal life, being too absorbed by work.
Always playing it cool, he didn’t let his parents see how uneasy it all made him feel. It’s not that he didn’t care, but they pushed him as if he didn't because he chose not to share his intimacy with them. What would be the purpose of having them worry?
His sister, Mejiwoo, knew a little bit more, not the whole story either. She had offered to introduce him to someone multiple times and he went with it the first few times. It didn’t work out, so he stopped trying.
He didn’t want to embarrass himself, women surely talked amongst themselves about how things had not bloomed between them.
Better be off-limits than have a reputation of being Jiwoo’s picky brother who went through friends and acquaintances and couldn’t seem to keep any around.
A little giggle was heard and Hobi stretched his neck to look over the table and squinted.
‘Someone’s there with you, isn’t there?’ ARMY teased him and he ignored them once again pursing his lips as he held his chin on his hand trying to pretend.
“Hey neighbor!”
Hoseok jumped in his seat taken off guard and his knee knocked down his phone on the small table.
“Aish, shit” he muttered when he noticed.
His eyes scanned every corner of his supposedly private balcony trying to find the source of the sound. Was he losing his mind and becoming paranoid?
He propped his phone back up sideglancing suspiciously.
“Oop...sie” Hobi tried to fix his cursing, it looked like the people watching had heard it even if it was nothing but a startled whisper. He smiled exaggeratedly knowing he’d screwed up.
There were always underaged viewers and he didn’t entertain anything that was more mature if he could help it.
Holding onto the railing of your balcony, you leaned forward just enough to peek over at Hoseok from behind the tinted glass that separated his balcony from yours. Your grin was cheeky and naughty as you swung back and forth.
Hobi’s eyes widened and he looked down at the screen. He forced a yawn and stretched, it wasn’t hard to convince everyone he was tired after having performed a little over two hours ago.
His strange attitude, however, didn't go unnoticed. The messages made it known, but his focus was on someone else.
“I should probably get going, ARMY. I love you!” he made it extra cute prolonging their name. Lastly he sent everyone a flying kiss and a few finger hearts and ended the live.
As soon as he put his phone down on its screen his expression morphed into a scowl.
“Cheers!” you chirped, your voice laced with amusement as you held up your martini in the air.
Great, she has to be my neighbor in every freaking country.
“What’s wrong with you?” he exclaimed worried you'd just fall off. Half your body was hanging off the railing, there was no other way to be able to see him.
“You were acting so cute just now, bursting with aegyo. So what bit you?” you questioned as you laid on your middle and the neckline of your robe was forced open a little further.
Hoseok blinked as his eyes were drawn to your breasts nearly spilling out of silky garment. It slid way too easily on your skin.
His cheeks flushed as he felt inappropriate, but his knitted eyebrows made it easy to blame it on his anger as he looked back up hurriedly.
“Aren’t you afraid of falling off?!” he was anxious for you. Hobi most definitely didn’t want to witness that, your live presence was disturbing enough.
“I’m not afraid of heights, in case you haven’t figured it out” you smirked swirling your drink in its glass and crossing your arms over the metal bars, pushing your bosom together and making it even more distracting.
Hoseok’s ears burned and he nervously looked away simultaneously annoyed and enticed by the view.
He was smarter than to fall for your tricks, he knew alcohol easily got to your head and your sweetness turned into your true form.
“That’s sweet of you, worrying about me” when he didn’t answer to your last words, you continued talking yourself.
Hobi scoffed as he moved the small table aside and sat up on the deckchair intending to go back inside his room.
“Tell me, what’s the beef with me? What’s your problem?” you were tired of being treated this passive-aggressively.
“What do you mean? I’m tired and I’m going to bed. We had a concert tonight, if you didn’t know” he offered an ingenuine smile as he turned to grab his things from another chair to make his way to bed.
“I do know, my friend, I’m flying you out tomorrow. It’s so unfair that you look this good after all that” you commented naturally admiring his flawless complexion and he growled irritated.
Sighing loudly, he brushed his hair back from his forehead with both hands with a groan. His plain t-shirt hiking up and revealing just enough skin between the hem and the elastic of his underwear that could be seen thanks to his oversized joggers hanging low on his hips.
“Have you no shame?” Hobi sneered sideglancing with a raised eyebrow, clenching his jaw in frustration and grinding his teeth.
“Well, I’m sorry that even the strip’s lights aren’t the best view tonight” you commented with a small smile as you quickly glanced at the bustling city below you.
“Unbelievable” he muttered shaking his head disapprovingly. Replying to your teasing only made it worse so he’d just ignore you like his hot face. He was extremely uncomfortable.
Your audacity was driving him crazy and he wished you’d stop pushing for him to like you.
“Good night, Hoseok-ssi” you offered with a loud kissy sound imitating him ending his vlive and a low displeased rumble crawled up his throat.
“Was that supposed to be a deterrent?” you snickered and he sighed sliding the window door closed behind him at last.
🔞Half an hour later and Hobi was laying in his bed taking deep breaths, his eyes were closed, yet he couldn’t sleep as the thin walls let him hear absolutely everything that was going on on the other side.
You were loud. He swallowed hard as his heart boomed in his chest listening without wanting to. Once again he had been forced into a situation he didn’t want to be in.
Hoseok rubbed his thighs together instinctively and a low moan escaped his lips making him flush in shame.
While he didn’t like what was going on, he couldn’t help but find all of this arousing even if he wouldn’t admit it.
You didn’t care, you really didn’t, and that was sending him for a loop.
Without even knowing how, you were pushing his buttons and making him think too much about things he most definitely didn’t want to do with you.
An ungodly sound came out of your mouth and his eyes shot open wide, his chest agitated, he felt like his whole body had broken in a cold sweat.
He clawed at the bedsheets on his bed and closed his other hand in a fist, nails digging into his palm.
With all his anger-fueled strength, he slammed the side of his fist back on the wall behind his bed, hoping you’d get the message and either keep it down or be done with it.
How long could you possibly take?
Hoseok could even hear you humming and the ruffling of your sheets as you shifted in bed. At your muffled voice, he felt his stomach drop and himself twitch. He stared down at his now taut sweats and was barking mad.
Your forehead was pressed against the pillow, lips parted and brushing against it as you breathed heavily. His name fell out of your mouth when you heard a bang on the wall and you groaned in frustration.
Knowing better than to answer in any way, Hoseok flung the comforter open and headed to the bathroom to wash off the sweat. He couldn’t stand the stickiness.🔞
Hobi couldn’t understand why you wouldn’t leave him alone. This was preposterous. Did you enjoy making him suffer?
He couldn't have the hots for his pesky neighbor. Absolutely not. He wasn’t a dumb hormonal teenager even if he felt as awkward right about now.
